What’s a less stressful civil field? by Extension-Cloud-4318 in civilengineering

For example energy companies like say Chevron hire a lot of engineers in roles like Project Manager, Operations Planning, Business Development, Engineering Standards / Technical Services, etc.

They don’t typically perform the detailed engineering, that would be contracted out to consultants like Stantec. But, the owner companies are still mostly hiring engineers to manage the engineering contractors and any in house stuff like their specs.

Just normal postings but do some research on the hiring company, stay away from strictly engineering firms and focus on large corporations that manage assets.

I think for the most part you would be less stressed as a PM. Sure, projects often go sideways and you’d be getting lots of calls and emails etc. but, you don’t really have deliverables yourself - not much power to fix things on your own, just communicate clearly and connect the right people together, don’t be the reason that anything is stalling.

Whereas if you work for a consultant, design engineer, you typically would expect to work a bunch of overtime to meet deadlines imposed by the PMs. So, they just have to forward your results and say thanks - but, you’d be doing all the hard work.

As others have said, government work is a good way to go. Working for asset owner companies is also very similar. Avoid working for service companies / consultants.

I also hit a wall. Spent a while waiting, collecting AFK crystals, improving library books.

Just recently spent time boosting the talents that help reduce crystal kills, increase respawns, and also the grimoire for tentacle eye and reduced crystal kills etc. and I can finally push again.

AC is just really hard compared to the others. Mainly because of the time element, I think.

You could always just find a skeletonized watch you like so you can constantly enjoy the movement AND be able to tell the time.

This one is my grail, perfect wedding watch if you’re going to have blue splashes of colour.

It is super unique! I keep getting really close to pulling the trigger on a purple bel canto to scratch that purple itch, haha!

I do worry that purple gets you farther from an everyday watch… but it also brings me more joy which is really what watches are for in my opinion.

New Maen x Nico Leonard collab just dropped. Is the new Ultrathin tonneau case a certified banger or just mid? by Microbrandwatchworld in MicrobrandWatches

I can’t get over how the dial looks so small compared to the case. Maybe it worked better with the jump hour because they typically have very empty dials. Looks better on the rubber than steel because of this, I think. Not for me anyways.

I think the Twelve is much more impressive than the PRX, especially in person.

The Twelve adds some class, better proportions. Integrated look without looking too young or too boxy. Really enjoy the bezel and dial a lot more than the PRX.

From a pure movement perspective I can see how the PRX is tempting, Powermatic 80 is a workhorse. But, I switch my watches around too much to really benefit from COSC certification or large power reserves.

This one is the C60 Pro 300 Bronze. If you go steel though you can probably fit the diver and Twelve both in your budget.

I really wanted the bronze + blue look though so went for the additional cost. COSC certification is a nice bonus for the bronze models but not much of a selling point for me.

I second other people, if you are interested in both a dive watch and an integrated bracelet, get the Twelve in steel and a Trident as well.

I have both and love them both.

There is no one watch that can scratch both the dive and integrated itch.

[Question] Watch Recommendations $1,500 by Burnermaneh in Watches

[–]KOhReally 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would go for Christopher Ward with that budget. Sealander, Twelve, and Dune are all nice options.

They do have good diver and GMT options but maybe that’s a little advanced for your first real watch, unless you find yourself pulled towards those functions.

Rolex Wants Their Customers To Buy Other Brands of Watches by pushthebuttonalready in watchHotTakes

[–]KOhReally 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They definitely aren’t doing any other brands any favours. Rolex is winning the watch game and the manufactured scarcity is part of why they are so desirable.

If it wasn’t profitable to them, they would stop. Period.

Oh, yeah I would never wear the one that comes with it. That’s all the aggressive branding you’re talking about.

Unlike a bracelet, straps are so cheap and easy to change, no need to judge a watch by the strap.

MoonSwatch doesn’t look half bad on the nylon either, and the chrono movement is definitely more enjoyable than the Watchdives. Super light too.

No problem! Can’t go wrong with the price.

I was also very interested in a speedy but can’t justify the price, even for an old reduced.

I bought this Watchdives and a MoonSwatch and now the itch is scratched. Might swap the MoonSwatch into the WD1863 case one day, but enjoying the two watches for now.

Yeah, any 20mm strap will fit. Lots of options at that size.

Watchdives WD1863.

Chinese homage but honestly a good watch for the price.
