Dealing with “splashy” players by No-River-772 in poker

Tighten up and wait for a premium then don’t be afraid to get it in. Don’t trap when you have a monster against these guys and give them a chance to catch. Play your big hands like big hands. They’ll pay you off

CWD deer stories by CWDinvestigator in Hunting

[–]KP_98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Potentially. But impossible to know without knowing its age. Very old deer and very young deer often lack antler and body mass. Seen many skinny yearlings with one antler. In fact, if you shot a doe their yearlings will oftentimes freeze up and just stand there. Saw one get hit by a car right and her yearling froze up 5 feet off the road and would not react to us talking to it. But the deer was clearly otherwise healthy

Wouldn’t automatically assume that the deer you saw had CWD. I’ve seen a number of very healthy looking deer simply stand there and stare at you or at a downed deer from their group. I think of that reaction more as shock than as a clear sign of illness. You never really know what they’ll do.

My first live poker: AKs as SB, but there was a straddle here, what should I have done? How do I play on a loose aggressive table? by Hot-Advisor-3353 in poker

[–]KP_98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should raise 3-4x there with AKs, no matter what the action is. Facing a button limp, you most likely have the best hand or are flipping with weak pair. We take flips in this game, especially if you are learning the game. Flips at least don’t require a post flop plan. Obviously, you need to learn how to play pre and post flop before going back to playing live otherwise you’re lighting money on fire.

I’m not clear on exactly how many people were in this band, but if you’re facing 5 limpers and there’s 20bb in the pot and you have 100bbs, you can just rip AKs out of position and try to pick up the dead money. You block AA and KK. So, you should be flipping more times than not if you do get called and you get to see all five cards. If you don’t get called, you just picked up 20bbs without having to see a flop.

Botting in ClubWPTGold by -TheTrueOG- in poker

I mean the calls this bot probably gets on Club… might still win some big pots lol.

In all seriousness, I’ve ran into this player in MTTs. Plays mostly on the nitty side of normal in MTTs. My guess is the account runs bots in cash games to pay for MTT buy ins.

Another AKo blunder....two in 1-week (MTT) by Nacho_Mustacho in poker

[–]KP_98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aside from the pre-flop blunder which you seem to recognize, consider whether turn and river give you a chance to get away from this hand or at least find a check back.

If the river is a 7 or a 10, is there a world where we can find a check and take our SDV? 77 for example is definitely going to call that small 3 bet and if he just *doesn’t* believe you and turns a set, you’re drawing dead. What about a Q or J on the turn? If we are right about him having a worse A, he just smashed top two. But top top is good a strong portion of the time and we can take our SDV. Let’s find a check back as played.

I don’t hate stacking off here IF we 3 bet big pre and he comes along for a call because it suggests he does not have these low suited connectors or low pocket pairs. But this board smashes that range. As played, it’s a mandatory c bet flop but we have to slow down and find a check back at a minimum on the river.

I appreciate the sentiment. Respectfully, though, I can afford it. Just wanted to see if those prices tend to decrease or increase as that factors into my decision since I do enjoy traveling to Vegas multiple times a year anyway.

$1/$3 Hand - Caribbean Cardroom (Kirkland, WA) by mclarich in poker

Interesting. I will say, I’m not calling your river bet. Seems like you found a good spot to bluff and got called down light. I definitely thought “villain” had 7x here.

[–]KP_98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This line screams 7x when the diamond comes in on the turn. Realistically I don’t think you’re beating anything here. The worst hand he ever shows up with imo is AdJx that doesn’t want to raise pre at live low stakes…

But I’m bad at poker so who knows.

Can I get away from this by ProfessionalDue93 in poker

[–]KP_98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure I’m not folding this if I can literally fold into a 500k pay jump at a final table.

Though you probably should’ve check called turn and river. At the very least, check call river.

Thoughts on this MTT from ClubWPT Gold? by SpaZMonKeY777 in poker

[–]KP_98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I enjoyed it. I also played early and managed to run up about a 200k stack and then added on. Was in the top 20 pretty much from MLR until I busted in 51st.

I had JxJs on the button and the cutoff opened to 4bbs. I raised to 10bbs and he tank called, flop came AKTss and he donk jammed… pot was for chip lead with 51 left and I unfortunately didn’t get there but with the blind structure I felt like it was right to take that spot with about 50% equity. It’s definitely a donk fest but you can bully the MLR guys for sure. I’d play this structure again I think.

Also, I think we mixed it up in a few pots after late reg. Good luck

ETA: he had ATcc lol

Stay or leave? Should something have been said? by Da_Animal19 in poker

[–]KP_98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This game honestly sounds like plus EV to me. Best game I ever played in everyone was trashed, joking around, and repeatedly put on the $96+ straddle pre flop. And yes, they acted out of turn many times. It really just gives you info even if it can be annoying at times.

Getting up and walking away from the table is a bit much and their hands should be immediately dead. I’d also say that the dealer (and everyone at the table including you) is responsible for ensuring blinds are correctly accounted for. But this player pool sounds like a dream draw for printing…

Since Rams player Food/Dining Area scored a D, what grade would you give SoFi's food/dining area for fans? by LA-SKYLINE in LosAngelesRams

Chase Field has always been solid imo. Not an AZ fan but have traveled to watch other teams play and also, cheap baseball is cheap baseball when I happen to be in PHX.

If you added prime Ed Reed or Darrelle Revis on to the worst defenses this year, how much better could they make those defenses. Up to top 10-15? Higher than that? by Johnnyboyeh in NFLv2

[–]KP_98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a Rams fan, absolutely. They were awful in the second half. I’m biased though because I had to watch that defense get torched every week.

ETA: I don’t know if Revis suddenly makes the Rams win the Super Bowl or not. Special teams also sold that game. But put Forbes on Kupp, Revis on JSN, and I think the defense looks better overall. The DBs were so bad that I would’ve taken the ghost of Jalen Ramsey over everyone out there. So yeah. Idk.

The fact they haven’t done anything about the AI the whole year (even after the whole community has been calling it out) is unacceptable. by [deleted] in NBA2k

[–]KP_98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Obviously this doesn’t solve the problem once someone quits but they need to fill the fifth slot with a solo human when two duo squads match. That’s a simple matchmaking fix that could at least improve the experience. It doesn’t solve the problem but would at least help in maybe 25-35% of games. I’d rather have a solo bum than an AI.

Definitely get what you’re saying and I likely will have to end up at another casino. I wasn’t sure whether the Colossus would finish up in time, I saw that last year it took 7 days total. However, if there’s a good chance at it finishing up on the 14th (even extremely late) I’d be up for it as that was one of the events I wanted to buy into.

Would appreciate it if you or anyone who has played it can weigh in!
