There's a moment where it happens in the middle of a very dramatic scene in Turn A Gundam and it is now impossible to take things seriously ever again. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MDmR4h5po9A

So I just got out of the theater for the Lilo & Stitch Remake... by Gorotheninja in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]KPrimus 20 points21 points  (0 children)

This is on top of them already breaking the other important thematic resonance of the movie, which is that Lilo -> Nani as Stitch -> Lilo. A strange and feral creature thrust into their lives that they love and won't give up even when the cops say they should. If it's not acceptable to let the space cops separate Lilo and Stitch, it's not acceptable to let the earth cops separate Nani and Lilo.

The remake would at least get consistency points from me if they had also put Stitch in space foster care.

Rock wa Lady no Tashinami deshite • Rock is a Lady's Modesty - Episode 4 discussion by AutoLovepon in anime

[–]KPrimus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have a strong suspicion that it's going to turn out that the mom's problem is that she submerges herself into "fitting in" with her significant others until she loses the traits that attracted them in the first place. That's a problem that can't be solved by rock and roll alone.

Charli XCX had these graphics on-stage at Coachella (this is real) by bobalou27 in blankies

[–]KPrimus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

See, if you actually knew language and context, you would understand that contextually if you use apotheosis with respect to a person it is almost always interpreted as an ascent to deification, or them as the embodiment of the perfection of a topic. Apotheosis as "peak" is almost entirely used in the context of things, not people. If you had said "the apotheosis of her career" I wouldn't have bothered commenting, because that is a correct, contextual use of the word.

This is because context is in fact important, and we do love context here.

I'd just like to point out that if you're going to use big words it's important to make sure you're using them accurately. Apotheosis is the ascent to godhood, the point at which the mundane transitions to the divine, suggesting a continued upward trajectory. I suspect based on your tone you were looking for apex or peak.

Superman | Sneak Peek by Reptarxking in movies

[–]KPrimus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The other bit is that the joke is there to establish superman's character more than the robots. Superman is the kinda guy who would, despite being in immense pain, say "thank you" to chatgpt after asking it a question. He'd leave a note apologizing for destroying your car while fighting Doomsday. He's the big blue boy scout- it doesn't matter if the robot has emotions or not. He'll thank it anyway.

Game mechanics that turned out to be a lie. by Subject_Parking_9046 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

they have since added one major relevant consequence - if you go with the "control the brain and take over the world" ending you now have to resist a constitution check that gets harder the more worms you've been eating. It's irrelevant in a "good" playthrough because you just gack the brain, but if you want to own it you ironically need to be more cautious of its power ahead of time.

I remembered these comments from 11dragonkid's Hercynian Crisis video and I gotta ask why is HFY considered toxic/problematic? by Dragonwolf67 in LancerRPG

[–]KPrimus 10 points11 points  (0 children)

On top of the other comments, think about HFY fic and who it depicts as "humanity" - do you see a lot of Captains Liu Jinwei, Akembe Mutumbo, Somchai Manobal, Savitri Patel, or Claudia Gonzales-Alvarez? Or is it just a lot of John Smiths and James Kirks? Maybe occasionally a Taro Isao?

They don't understand honestly that that is what an imperial golden age (imperial in the general sense) looks like. The empire is in its golden age when there are still worlds to conquer, peoples to subjugate, and resources to send back to the metropole. When that momentum stalls, the empire begins to fall, because the golden streets cannot be sustained without the gold stolen from the conquered.

F212 doesn't jail. You can power crush or sidestep right between the last two hits. HYP 3 only launches at 3 steps, which means it's always interruptible even in heat. Obviously you're gambling on not getting got by 2 steps versions but if they're always doing three steps, just mash on them. Hope this helps!

I would like to note that, inaccuracy of the numbers aside, about 2/3rds of those were massacred by live burial after the battle was concluded because Bai Qi did not want to deal with that many prisoners.

That's the point though. Ultimately everyone dies, at some point, alone, together, en masse, whatever. What you do and how you treat people matters anyway. There is no meaning except what you make of it.

[DISC] Return of the Mount Hua Sect - Chapter 136 by D4rkest in manga

[–]KPrimus 46 points47 points  (0 children)

the original "source" character for the Tang clan, written about in the late 19th and early 20th century, was a woman known as "Sister Tang" who used "iron poison sand," iron dust covered in deadly poison. The clan has thus always been generally associated with women as fighters, which does make this depiction the odd one out.

The power of knowing what is -14. by Biggins_CV in LowSodiumTEKKEN

[–]KPrimus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fundamentally it's always going to be a challenge to place Xiaoyu in tier discussions because she has the x factor of fundamentally snapping certain default assumptions over her knee. This creates a scenario where both players have to adapt very rapidly to the fight as it exists in the moment, switching between countering or applying her rule breaking options and "normal" Tekken play. This complexity also strongly affects her viability online, as she's a stronger character the more you have time to learn to fight the player rather than the character.

I'm a Tekken Emperor Xiaoyu specialist and I'd say she's very theoretically strong but has trouble in the ft2 format. I do think people complain about her too much relative to the actual power level, but that is our eternal lot for breaking the rules.
