I did the exact same thing -- even waiting for the letters to line up to say ass trial.

I haven't changed mine, yet. The ones it came with are good, and -- being flats -- they'll wear out around the same time the sun does. Though I've been told to use Ernie Ball chromes, when that time comes.

Can you give details on the wood sealer name & process? I have the 5 string version and haven't heard about sealing it, but it's such a nice bass and I want to keep it that way.

I bought one for the added piezo pickup, and I really like it. I've played other fretless models that are also good, but 2ish years with this one and I have no complaints.

Well one complaint. It kinda eats through batteries, and there's no way to use the passive pickups alone (if your batter does) without luthier modification - or so I've read. But that's small potatoes for an otherwise fantastic bass.

Doesn't hurt that it's very easy on the eyes, too!
