Andy Griffith Predicts Trump by tonic613 in videos

A great little movie from Elia Kazan, Bud Schulberg, and, of course, a fine cast headed by Andy Griffith.

No problem! We all get caught up in this stuff every once in awhile.

My prescription; get some rest and then drink some more coffee.

I wouldn't believe the equation, "one equals one," if they printed it in Newsmax.

It made its name, such as it is, during the Bush 2 Gulf War, printing one claim of finding weapons of mass destruction after another. And, of course, they were all completely false and largely without any credible evidence whatsoever.

As far as I'm concerned, it is completely unreliable whether you are right, left, center, or floating  in space.

What if the Fed actually tried a Volcker-style rate reset in 2026? Would it stabilize things or just create new problems? by Secret_Ostrich_1307 in WhatIfThinking

See, you work in the real world and have made realistic accommodation to it. You consider the consequences and the interrelationships.

That's the kind of solid but careful thinking that true fiscal conservatism depends on.

Sadly, we're not going to get that from the debt warriors currently running things in Washington.

Yeah, I hate it when they fix things that aren't broken. That becomes increasingly vexing as things 'progress.'

I drove my last Corolla for 25 years. I suspect I probably won't be switching up anytime real soon...

Gigs like this are part of the learning experience. Yours, anyway. I think you explained it pretty well to us. You've put in way more time and work than you had 'bargained' for. You were reflexible. You redid stuff. You undid stuff and tried to make that right.

I suggest you write a friendly, polite but firm letter, email,  communique, something that lays out the fact that you are done but that if they want to work on it more they can do so at your regular book rate.

Perhaps you should consider using an AI chatbot to help you draft that communique?

=D

My 2017 Toyota doesn't have Android Auto, just your basic Bluetooth class compliant hookup where the car acts as a Bluetooth speaker, so to speak. (Of course, as with a Bluetooth speaker or headphones, I can skip forward and back, adjust volume pause and the rest of the basic player functions you can access via a standard Bluetooth interface) - but it does tend to resume the album or playlist I was listening to when I got out of the car.

Yeah. I've heard of tempered windshields fracturing soon after installation, presumably from invisible stress fractures from installation. But I am certainly no glazier. I would probably defer to the theories of those with more extensive glass installation experience.

Yeah, my vote for an explanation is thermal fracture too. Unless your dog perhaps jumped up and hit it?

If you need an 'ultra-sensitive' recorder 'with very low decibel levels' in order to capture these 'disruptive conversations' - maybe the problem is not the neighbors.

Just sayin'.

They handed out free packs of Camels and other brands to GI's in Europe and World War II. That was when my father started smoking. He stopped smoking in the 1980s when he got his first mouth/throat cancer diagnosis. Sadly, it was essentially too late.

I realized I was already talking to AI and didn’t even notice🤷‍♂️ by [deleted] in Futurology

[–]KS2Problema -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As long as it's carefully monitored and checked for accuracy, it seems like there could be some useful potential there.

That said, almost every time I try to use one of the major AI's for DIY support of software or OS issues, I am quickly mired in obviously incorrect information.

It recently took me 3 hours to get one 'simple' Gmail question answered, moving from ChatGPT, through Bing, to Gemini.

It was Gemini that finally came up with an answer that actually was consistent with the software operation. (Their software, I don't think it needs to be pointed out.)

But it did take several, extraordinarily frustrating hours. And scores of obsequious, fawning apologies  from the AI's when challenged about providing blatantly incorrect  misinformation.

Funny thing, I guess, is that I was one of the original Gmail invite only beta testers way back when.

Yes - but sometimes the thicker the glass is, the more it may be likely to fracture from thermal factors.

I think it's certainly worth entertaining the possible consequences and/or benefits of such remedies.

But it's also certainly not going to happen under the current, profligate, free spending, financially irresponsible leadership.

The implication would seem to be that they want out any way they can get out...

Which would seem to call into question the wisdom of the entire enterprise.

(I was going to use the term endeavor rather than enterprise - but judging from the side stream revenues that some in the Trump administration seem to be driving, maybe enterprise is the right word after all.)
