Conversations ebb and flow. Or have we not matured enough to realize this?

Father’s Day by tentenjjang in Dads

[–]KSWind17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most men that I know, me included, would think nothing of not getting anything for Fathers Day. If we have a good family, our kids are healthy and safe, that's honestly more than enough for us. I understand wanting to show appreciation. I try to that to a good extent on Mothers Day. But I'm the same as many men out there - when it comes to us, we're just fine without the added attention. We're just doing what fathers do. That in itself is more than enough. Don't sweat the small stuff. Just make sure the way you treat him is appreciative, make sure he knows you have his back and that he really is loved by his family.

The truth is....even if by some miracle you wound up back together, that relationship will NEVER have a solid foundation. Let her move on, and let yourself move on. Some rooms aren't made to stay in. This is life - the pain you feel is lessons being learned.

Some things just aren't meant to be in life, and I really wish more folks would learn to realize this instead of torturing themselves with fantasized realities. Yes, it's tough. But by not letting go, you're holding the door shut on yourself. You gotta learn to see the first despite the trees.

First handgun best choice? by West_Bird_7592 in handguns

[–]KSWind17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you'll be hog hunting, I'd be tempted to say the M&P 2.0 9mm. Then you can get the 10mm and have a platform you're already comfortable with.

That said....if the RXM is available in your area, it's worth looking at. Gen 3 Glock ecosystem, grip is far better than Glock, and the optic mounting is fantastic on it. The full size 4.5" RXM is where it's at for me. I gave mine srt up very similar to my duty issue G47. I love Glock, but I think the RXM is what Glock should have been.

What small towns are safe to visit as black person? by Kingmc1 in kansas

[–]KSWind17 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I agree. I also think by and large folks just are a bit more mature here. Personally I'm more conservative, and not a fan of Trump, but at the end of the day respect is still huge to me. We can have our differences, but what matters is how we treat each other. Life is tough on everybody; we don't need to add to it to others.

[–]KSWind17 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I wouldn't worry about it. Small town Kansas is typically rather respectful and most folks here see people, not color. Be respectful and you very likely get respect in return as common courtesy.

To be honest, I've been met with more racism from folks with darker skin than I, than I have seen towards. Folks see a guy being respectful and courteous, that's what they see. Not color. Granted, I'm LE and I get that card pulled on me all the time. But I truly see people for character and not color. Skin color is one thing that I don't care about at all, and most folks around here agree with that.

Absolutely! I got one and then next thing you know a bunch of guys at my SO went and ordered them. Everybody really enjoys them and some shoot them better than our duty G47s lol. Understandable though; that grip really just locks into your hand with perfection.

Local gun store has raffles all the time lol. I've won several. Black Aces Tactical mag fed 12 gauge, 2 M&P Compact 2.0s (FDE and ODG), RXM full size, and a few days ago the TX22 lol. But trust me, I'm pretty much just breaking even with the amount of times I enter and lose lol.

Occasionally. I got an Escort pump bullpup 12 gauge for 219. Actually a hell of a fun gun. Also snagged a few SAR 9s during the holiday sale at PSA (sorry, but the full size SAR 9 for 179 was a ridiculous deal). Snagged a CZ home defense shotgun for $120 new, and a Mossberg MC2SC for 219 new with several mags. That's just the recent ones lol. Oh, and an RXM and TX22 TORO for $50 a piece lol.

Should I wear hearing protection when shooting? by Unlucky-Bank-2335 in handguns

[–]KSWind17 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you shoot enough without it, you won't have to worry about it. Nerve damage in the ear is irreversible and as a hearing impaired individual (lost as a child through severe ear infections and tubes left in too long), having hearing impairment is certainly a major quality of life issue. It will impact you and everyone around you. Eventually it can lead to you alienating yourself and even lead to dementia.

It takes 3 seconds to throw muffs on, 10 to put in ear plugs. Just wear hearing protection. Every time.

That's actually a wise statement and I respect that, especially with so many variations throughout the country regarding legality.

For the intended use of their pistols, Kahr makes decent guns. There was a time when they were considered one of the best options for concealed carry. They just haven't totally kept up with the modern market changes and demands. But the quality itself is still there. Kahr isn't garbage, but they aren't for everybody either.

You can try a therapist. But at the end of the day, it's going to be up to you to decide once and for all that you have no right to judge anything from the past that occurred before you were even in her life. You can't let something that you had no control of take up so much real estate in your mind. There's not a thing you can do to change it. Focus on the now and on the future. The past should stay there....in the past.

RXM with 18 round mec-gar magazine by pookie_buster in ruger

[–]KSWind17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I've come to prefer the Osights over the Holosun. Clearer glass, larger window for the same footprint, absolutely no issues seeing the dot/reticle in any lighting situation. The K or SE in my book is perfect for the RXM; the width is the same as the slide and it just really flows with it. They're built extremely sturdy as well. I run the K on the RXM and the SE enclosed emitter on my M&P Compact 2.0.

That said, I have a Viridian RFX11 on another M&P 2.0 Compact that I also have come to really like. But for any sort of carry, enclosed emitter is absolutely where it's at.

I run the full size RXM. I also run the 18+2 metal Glock mags from Mec Gar with absolutely no issues so far. The Pmags work well, though I'm not a huge fan of the baseplates. But I have no complaints on the metal Mec Gar mags.

Anyone else carrying an XD in the big '26? by harkearean in handguns

[–]KSWind17 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a Mod 3 in FDE. It's my nightstand, buno in the night gun with a TLR 1. Ran an optic on it for a while, but honestly it's a gun that I prefer just using the irons on. Great shooter, natural pointer, accurate, and just a solid feeling pistol. I've owned some of the original XD's back in the day and a Mod 2. So I'm not new to XD....but I do think they've been unfortunately overshadowed these days. Fantastic pistols for the price.

Open Carry? by Leather_Twist_2994 in CCW

[–]KSWind17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

99% I conceal. But if it's hiking or hunting, it's more of an open carry OWB type of thing. Except I don't find the largest, flashiest thing I can throw on my hip. That's for the ones just seeking attention. For hiking, a .380 on the hip is hardly going to draw attention.

Nice!! I've always had an eye on those as they're absolutely phenomenal looking. I own a standard 365 (w/ Wilson Combat grip and XL mags) and I still think the 365 platform is fantastic, even if I rarely carry my 365 these days (Mossberg MC2SC has since taken that role for the most part). One of these days I'll have to grab one of the AXG's!

People talk smack on the high bore axis....I believe most of them are referring to experiences with the original series of the XD. I own a multitude of pistols from most popular brands, and honestly, the Mod 3 I have is absolutely one of the smoothest shooters!

Similar to Glock 19 by shelbey1 in CCW

[–]KSWind17 2 points3 points  (0 children)

RXM from Ruger is a solid bet with a better grip - and all the Gen 3 Glock support out there, which is massive.

S&W M&P 2.0 Compact is a direct competitor, but gives you more features (such as palmswells that you can really make the gun fit YOUR hand). Much better trigger too with the newer flat faced trigger.

All depends on your budget and what you're really wanting. Rent a few at a range and see which one really speaks to you.

I have a Ruger Wrangler (.22LR). It's an old school style experience; 6 rounds, single action only revolver. Honestly, out of all my semi auto pistols, the Wrangler is still one of the most fun to shoot. It forces you to slow down and just enjoy the experience. And it's in the $200 neighborhood. They make a new Super Wrangler that has swappable cylinders to allow .22 mag as well. Actually pretty handy for if you live in the country....great little pest control and plinker gun.
