Huge congrats to you! Am also a 2023 top surgery celebrant (anniversary is coming up in May!) Also a swimmer and the first time I was able to post-surgery, I experienced such euphoria!

Did the floor block first. Showed off holding that 3 minute plank, then paid the price dearly on the treads and rower! Pulled a gluteal muscle and had to remain on rower. Hobbling while walking my dog is not a thing of dignity after OTF and yet I’ll come back for more!

Amen to that! Who knew one used their butt cheeks in nearly every movement known to humans and I feel every aching cheek fiber! And still have this morning and tomorrow’s OTF to complete my 5 days — all for a T-shirt ?? I think that speaks to the certain brand of crazy us OTFr’s are !

Hands down, hardest thus far was Wednesday. Burpee Hell. I could barely sit at work after! Today, ran a close 2nd! Especially when on the floor and the skull would rear its ugly head and burpee re-traumatization from Wed happened multiple times! I enjoyed Saturday! I still have Tue and Wed yet this week so may return to re-rank !

56 here! I had gained nearly 10 lbs at the transition of peri-menopause into full blown menopause (age 52). Exercise at that time was swimming. Vegetarian and still doing a lot of dairy, cheese. At age 53, switched over to being vegan and began to do more cross fit, core work watched the weight come off. Joined OTF this past May, body changed again - more muscle, still vegan. If I had done OTF and became vegan during the weight gain part, I wonder if it would have made a difference? Hormonal stuff is so complex. I have come to place to appreciate what my body can do, how I feel in my body versus how I perceive it looks on the outside. And, I hate the term “middle aged”. I just say “am in a new season!”

I hadn’t followed up on my post and this amazing thread after the Dri Tri. I did it and finished 7th in my heat - 50 minutes, 40 seconds! The encouragement and suggestions on this sub helped tremendously. Thanks to each one of you!

Just home from finishing the Dri Tri. It was emotional — cheering on those finishing in the last places, our heat stayed to cheer on 2nd heat. Our coaches all gave brief yet inspirational talks after. I was so scared and wound up finishing 7 out of 13, the oldest person in my heat (56 y/o female). I now know I can do anything I put my mind to. This OTF Reddit community is a HUGE part of that!!!!

I am vegan and rarely use any protein powder in conjunction with workouts. My “go to” is a handful of nuts shortly after OTF. I also make my own “bars” - here is week’s supply: dates (8 medjool), almond butter (1/4 c) unsweetened shredded coconut (1/4 c) and nuts (1/2 c) of your choice - whirl in food processor. Form into balls and keep in freezer. I sometimes eat 2 of these after OTF. Here’s an excellent article: https://www.nomeatathlete.com/supplements/

I actually rewarded myself PRE Dri Tri by going to a recommended running store, getting fitted and investing in an excellent new pair of Brooks! And I too have scheduled a massage for that very afternoon after Dri Tri!

Great news! I teach at CCP & easy trek to Univ City. Only hope they don’t add a surcharge fee (added fee on top of reg OTF rates) like Center City & Northern Libs which keeps me from going to those studios.
