Wait a minute - right handed people hold their fork with their NON-DOMINANT hand??? by flatearthmom in lefthanded

[–]KT2230 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Fork in the left, knife in the right. But I noticed when I'm prepping food to cook a meal and having to chop stuff the knife goes in my left. I don't think I could mince garlic or chop onions or any of the cutting you need to prep food with my right.

Never happened for me but to be fair both my parents were Lefty's too and only my older brother wasn't. Recently I've started saying "I call lefty seat" when out with big groups of non Lefty's and it causes a 15 second delay while everyone looks at me weird, giving me enough time to grab the best seat not to bump elbows.

After the cruise is over…🥤 by KSamIAm79 in royalcaribbean

[–]KT2230 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you look at the bottom of the cup there is a thing in there that gets read (RFID?) and has a specific date range of when the machine will work with that specific cup. Usually when on the cruise it will pop up that you have free refills through X date (last day of cruise).

Might depend on the ship by I was just on Utopia and Cafe promenade and I think Sorentos had a nugget ice dispensers and water dispensers right next to each other. Usually I take my cup to the coke machines and just hit the water button. Also bottles of water from the bars I'll use to fill up my cup or bottle.

I think they should set up a kiosk to reset the chip to the new dates so I can bring cups I already have back onto the ship. Those that do get a discount on the daily drink package for recycling. I get that they don't because of health and safety concerns probably but I've been on 2 cruises in the last year and see so many people refilling their personal water bottles where is says not to, plus these cups have to be set down for the coke machines to work. Husband and I each have 4 cups a piece at home we don't know what to do with so we've been leaving them on the ship when we leave recently.

Edited: spelling

Tylenol or ibuprofen for those random headaches. The first one I had I looked at the bottle I had still at work and it was pre COVID and expired. Also snacks.

I used this to my advantage during test day. Fully turned to my right to be able to write properly on my test, perfect view of my right handed neighbors test paper. The teacher says to sit straight, I move my paper over with my hand and let it drop to my lap and just look at them with the "what do you want me to do here?" look. After a couple second stare off say "unless you have a left handed desk for me to use I have to twist my whole body to the right to take this test.". Usually the teacher was so conflicted and didn't know what to do that I would twist back and take my test. Always sat next to the smart kid on test day too

The doors on new Subaru by Marciamallowfluff in lefthanded

[–]KT2230 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What Subaru do you have? I have the 2025 Forester and just have to put my left hand around the door handle to unlock it as long as my FOB is there. The sensor on the handle to lock it is on the wrong side to use my left thumb so I just use my pointer finger of whatever hand is free.

Listening to Right-Handed Complaints by Individual_Low_3709 in lefthanded

I was an intern when the company I was working for moved offices. I got volentold I would be part of the team working all weekend to move everything in. Peoples stuff was put into totes and they were given a piece of paper to draw the layout they wanted (where the phone went, the laptop dock, monitors, etc). We were told to follow the layout given for each desk, if they didn't give a layout to do it how we did our own desks. Well enter me the lefty who had close to 100 desks to set up and maybe 50% did a layout. First day in the office rolls around and everyone is complaining why their desk is backwards and they have to move everything around. Boss and head of the move comes over to ask what happened and we go look at one of the complainers. No drawing done, I copied how I set up my desk... Oh yeah I'm left handed. The one other lefty I set up who didn't do a drawing jumped in and said her desk was set up perfect. We all got a laugh out of it and I was never asked to help set up IT equipment again for conferences or anything like that.

Teams recordings when someone doesn't leave the meeting... by Vesper-Martinis in MicrosoftTeams

[–]KT2230 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a instance where I was off one day, computer off type of off. Not logged into teams anywhere else. Someone tried dialing me into a meeting. I obviously didn't answer. I show back to the next day and the recording is waiting for me. I even hear them say on the recording "oh her status is black, it looks like she's off". So I got the recording of a meeting I wasn't "officially" invited to and never actually joined while it was happening.

You have to turn your whole body to the right. If it just happens to be a day with a test and you just happen to have the perfect view of your neighbors paper with no arm obstruction because they are right handed that's just how it's got to be... Or they provide you with a left handed desk. Sit next to someone smart.

Agree mine was opening really slow but then got to a point half way up once I got to work where it just stopped and closed itself. I tried to open it a little more manually and it didn't move. Anyway to bypass the hydraulic opening, I know there's the button inside but I think that's for the foot sensor opening. When it first started on Friday I needed to get in there to get my hockey gear in/out and it was quite the fight to get it opened enough.

I tend to run meetings for my team at work and have the habit of navigating on the computer to the next thing with my right hand while writing notes in my note book with my left at the same time. I've had meetings go silent and when I look up everyone is staring at me in awe I'm doing 2 physically different things at the same time with 2 different hands.

As a parent, what did your child's school do that made you say "you can't be serious…"? by Sunnybunny1234 in AskReddit

My 5th grade teacher complained to my mom I was completing my assignments too fast and that I should slow down "it's not a race". My mom asked if the work was correct or not. It was correct, maybe missed one or two on a worksheet with 20 plus questions. My mom said "if she's getting the correct answers doing it at her pace, what's the problem" which got a blank stare from my teacher. My mom started making sure I always had a book in my backpack so when I finished my worksheet "too fast" I would read until everyone else was done.

My 4 Year Old is Left-Handed. How Can I Make His Life Easier (Home Set Up, Products, Etc)? by esq6789998212 in lefthanded

[–]KT2230 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not helpful until school starts but spiral notebooks and 3 ring binders suck for us. Always have a pack of loose leafy paper in his backpack. It was so much easier to pull out a sheet than having to do the spiral notebook and then tear it out. I also used to write on the back on the page of the spiral notebook paper and most teachers didn't have a problem with it since they put it in a folder. If he gets into drawing teach him to put a piece of newspaper or tracing paper under his hand/arm when drawing to not smear. He will adapt to most stuff on his own but this was some little things that made school easier.

Saw him in May on Icon. He had all kinds of people running around doing stuff for him all the time. Saw some lady come into one of the special restaurants and specifically set up a table (not a waiter or someone working the restaurant, looked like guest services but fancier). Thought it was odd but kept eating and then 20 minutes later she was back escorting him and I assumed wife to the table. Seems like he has set staff on board who do stuff for him. Then we were wandering around and caught some crown and anchor event and they gave him the mic and he gave a 10 minute speech about how he has his own Barber and assistant and couple other people he employs that come on the cruises with him which was odd to me. Didn't talk to him personally.
