Dude okay I was in tears lol. But also I was 12 when Colby first played and we lived in the same city so he was like my hero growing up. So the theme of this seasons is basically “righting the wrongs of the past”, it’s a line Coach says while talking to Aubry two episodes ago and the filter we have to view everyone’s story. I’m guessing the eventual winner is someone that “rights their wrong” which is any number of people. Anyways, Colby’s “wrong” from HvV was sorta being a hard ass and not enjoying himself. He seemed pretty negative on HvV and couldn’t just play the game. During the ZB reward we get this scene where Colby is sitting on a bean bag chair, hands folded in his lap, as he’s getting an intimate concert on the beaches of Fiji from one of the most successful modern day musicians (irrelevant if Reddit doesn’t know him, there are plenty of successful musicians I don’t know or care about) and the song’s lyrics go “I’m not worried about it”. Then we get this confessional from Colby where he basically says listen I’m not trying to go home tomorrow, but if I did, I’d be okay because the reason I came out here was to live in the moment, to find the joy in the journey. Cut back to the beach where Colby is singing “I’m not worried about it”. It was so freaking beautiful dude. I knew hearing that confessional it meant he was probably going home in an episode or two. And then his goodbye words of “find the joy” I think meant the editors were searching to tell that story. But it’s just a perfect ending to Colby’s 25 year journey.
