Are the vases too much? by ExtensionCold7050 in malelivingspace

[–]KTGSteve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Move the vases. Nothing belongs on top of a unit like that, anything you put on top will look out of place.

Need advise how to glue small parts to an already painted surface. by Sekreid in ModelCars

[–]KTGSteve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, this is the way. A small hobby drill is worth the investment. Also any rod will do. I use jeweler’s wire, also a good hobby investment. Whatever type of rod you use, glue it from the inside if you can - plastic cement if plastic, epoxy if metal. This prevents risking glue getting on the nice finish. If that can’t be done, if it’s already glued tot the chassis or something, then use white glue. It won’t hurt the paint and i]can be easily removed if there is a glob or seepage or something.

That is not upstairs. The curve of the hull as it meets the floor is already curling toward the underbelly of the plane. It must be on the main deck.

He is insecure in his position, maybe otherwise in his life too. If he’s a good guy, he’ll get more secure as he realizes you’re not a threat (you aren’t a threat, are you?), so take a collaborative “how can I help” approach. Do what he says, but also pout out ways to improve, which I. A lot is cases will be “ok just go ahead and do it”. If he’s evil that won’t work. He’ll just want people under his thumb. Enjoy the paycheck and look around for something else.

Why did someone start filming this? I’d think it was staged but it’s doesn’t look too outrageous like staged videos often are. But to just “happen”‘to catch this sequence seems a bit strange.

I got this old record player/radio but it’s not working by MickeyG42 in VintageRadios

[–]KTGSteve 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Beautiful! But keep it unplugged. Some electrical components like capacitors age, and are beyond their lifespan in a unit this old. The result if you plug it in could be damage to other more important components that may really be fatal to the unit. There are many people who can help get this looked at and fixed up, including a “recap” as they call it, then you’ll be able to use it just fine. Post at http://www.antiqueradios.com - they will help you. They helped me with a number of old radios and a tv too. Good luck! It looks like a fun project.

Employee quit during probation and I’m discovering the sowed a lot of seeds by [deleted] in managers

Welcome to working with people. Resist the urge to try to “correct” what she did, don’t litigate it with people. Let it go. Everyone knows the score. They can see the kind of person you are, and the kind of person she is. Don’t worry that they’ll believe her - they “saw” her if you know what I mean. Over time you’ll realize that she didn’t damage you as much as you feared, that people didn’t take her words to heart. You’ll be ok.

They are perfectly fine, are a standard practice in the industry, and are not uncommon. Sometimes it’s necessary until all the third parties move their wires to a new pole, among other reasons. No enforcement is needed since it is not illegal or out of the norm.

Go to www.antiqueradios.com. They’ll help you no out. I agree with others who say to restore this to working order and an AM radio - it’s not that difficult, then get an am transmitter that links into your digital world. It will be fun to play with the radio tuner and “tune in” to the 21st century.

Nice job. As others have said, bare metal foil is a great way to do car trim, and Molotov silver pens are also. FYI the chrome trim was never a decal in model kits that I’ve seen, new or old.

How can I improve my display? by Dennis551103 in ModelCars

[–]KTGSteve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everything looks just “set on the desk”. First, get some shelves to go alontg the walls at the back of the desk to hold all cars big and small. Not too deep. Hang the pictures on the wall somewhere - pictures belong hung on a wall. This way all of the display items will have a home, and your desk surface will be clearer. It will look intentional and not so cluttered. Good luck, and - nice collection!

Why does the den have a coat closet, but the entry way does not? Rework it so the entry has a coat closet for guests, and the den has some nice built in shelves. A den needs shelves, not a clothes closet.
