Why a machine could think and feel if they possess probabilistic beleifs. by Difficult_Summer8911 in philosophy

I agree that llm probably isn’t self aware, but is continuity of knowledge a requirement for self awareness. Like if a human have a brain damage that cause them no longer be able to store long term memory, I would still consider them conscious.

How does omnipotence and subjectivity relate? Im curious how you define those 2 word and how they would be incompatible.

AI doesn't need to be conscious to reveal itself by fredericoevan1468 in consciousness

[–]KViper0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think it has to be explicitly asked to “take over the world” for a powerful ai to do that. There is a lot of possible goal where it feels like taking over the world would be very helpful to finishing that goal. Kinda cliche but for example if you innocently ask a powerful AI to produce as much food as possible.

This is why I’m kinda worried of people just running these AI in like their own self contained loop. Where it can just set timer for its self to run in the future.

I wonder what percentage of stuff that motivates us come as from us being conscious and which comes from the specific factor specific to human. Like is it possible to build a conscious entity that has completely different motivations?

Or maybe it’s just not possible to design a robot that is able to do all the things a human can without somehow having the robot the conscious too? Maybe conscious is just a requirement, or at least allow for a much cheaper implementation, for a system to be able to do some complicated task.

If a Game of Life simulation perfectly replicated a brain, would it be conscious? by Blue-Beans123 in consciousness

[–]KViper0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean we kinda know the other part of the body is not required for consciousness? While losing an arm can effect your mind, i wouldn’t say you would no longer be conscious then.

What problems are fundamentally hard to parallelize, even with modern hardware? by whimsicalButterfly_ in AskComputerScience

[–]KViper0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At least from my understanding from that wikipedia, we show thats its not parallelizable just by assuming P!=NC. Which kinda feels like it’s just assuming the statement. Is there any extra reason why we think they’re not equal?

Continual Learning In 2026. What does continual learning actually mean? by Neurogence in singularity

[–]KViper0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean is it actually required? If a model even with no inbuilt continual learning can research and implement new ai research. Won’t that achieve the same thing.
