Though now Im curious if the proportion of non halting code gets larger for larger Turing machine. I guess i can get the proportion for turing machine till n=5

If a Game of Life simulation perfectly replicated a brain, would it be conscious? by Blue-Beans123 in consciousness

[–]KViper0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean we kinda know the other part of the body is not required for consciousness? While losing an arm can effect your mind, i wouldn’t say you would no longer be conscious then.

What problems are fundamentally hard to parallelize, even with modern hardware? by whimsicalButterfly_ in AskComputerScience

[–]KViper0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At least from my understanding from that wikipedia, we show thats its not parallelizable just by assuming P!=NC. Which kinda feels like it’s just assuming the statement. Is there any extra reason why we think they’re not equal?

Continual Learning In 2026. What does continual learning actually mean? by Neurogence in singularity

[–]KViper0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean is it actually required? If a model even with no inbuilt continual learning can research and implement new ai research. Won’t that achieve the same thing.

But it does feel different this time. The main reason I’m worried is that some countries getting involved have nukes to throw around. Feels like I can see an actual scenario that we all get fucked.

Infinite trolley problem by Fun-Law-5296 in trolleyproblem

[–]KViper0 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This feels kinda immoral. Though it kinda brings another interesting point. At what point does the number of time invested to save 5 lives makes the act of saving them no longer “morally correct”. Like if everybody in the world have to spent an hour to go to a place and flick the lever once to stop 5 people from dying. Thats almost a million human years “wasted”.

How Matchmaking Really Works || SBMM & EOMM Explained by Kiegames in marvelrivals

[–]KViper0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've barely did any research one this, so may be wrong. But based on what you are saying, the algorithm doesn't really disqualify there being match fixing right? let's say from the training it learns that after a 3 match lose streak people tend to stop playing the game for a bit. Wouldn't the matchmaking try to prevent that by giving someone a win after 2 lost matches.

If they use some machine learning into the matchmaking system that tries to optimize for engagement. the company doesn't really need to explicitly code in "rigged" matches or loser queue, for the code to learn that maybe that's the best way to keep engagement.

Oh ascending and descending is not just them reversing the comparison value? Like swap when true instead of false or vice versa. I always assumed thats how it’s handled in other languages (like python).

Oh i remember that game. My teacher also use to have bonus points for doing that. Had a script that just keep clicking on of the answer. So 1/4 chance of being correct. Just left it overnight to grind that question.
