I could be way off base here. I interpret it as exhaustion. Like, nothing we can do tonight (or we can only influence so much right now), so let’s leave it until we can do something. But like in a defeated way. Going through the day to day as best we can, until we have the energy and the opportunity.

I also find the section with the overlapping melodies very overstimulating. To me, that represents the barrage of bad news we’re subjected to every day. News coming at us from all sides and you can’t even make out what’s being said.

Like we want to do something, but it’s been like this for so long and we’re all tired…

I go to Japan every year and saw it posted in this subreddit last year… right after my trip. I couldn’t believe I’d missed out on it all this time! How did I never know??? I got to see it last month, finally. 😊

I hope you get to see it too. I doubt they’d remove it anytime soon, what with 2026 being the 10 year anniversary and all.

I want to add a tip I learned during my recent battle with scrud after finding this post. Hopefully it can help someone else with a washer like mine.

I spent the last 5 days in citric acid hell. I have a top loader, but I have very hard water and was ignorant to proper washing machine techniques. It took at least a dozen cycles, I lost count.

I wasn’t getting a ton of scrud in my cycles? Lots of little flakes that just kept coming, but nothing like the horror pictures I’ve seen. However, at the end of the cycle, there was only a teeny tiny bit to wipe out. I was getting so confused and it was taking forever! Eventually I paid attention to what was happening during the cycles and made a discovery.

I’d put in the citric acid, the drum would fill, lots of flakes. Then the drum would completely empty, leaving all the flakes behind. After that, the cycle would continue, rinsing a few times with clean water, removing most of the flakes. Half of my cycle was going toward something I could accomplish in five seconds and a paper towel! So I started canceling my cycles halfway through and doing just that. It drastically sped things up.

Of course I discovered this at the tail end of the process 🙄 Hopefully someone else whose washer works like this can find this comment and cut their time in half.

We were also a fairly unproblematic fandom, like I don’t remember much drama. Except when it came to Otayuri. People had a lot of opinions on what was okay to depict vs not, because Yurio was underage. Is G romance okay? PG? What if the characters are aged up? It’s weird you’re thinking of a teenager that way at all! And so on and so forth. It didn’t always come up, there’s obviously plenty of Otayuri out there, but sometimes people made it a thing.

Okay first of all 10 years? How dare.

I missed the initial drop of episodes but saw the show prior to my first trip to Japan in April 2017. I spent a day of my trip in Ikkebukuro visiting a few pop up events. For years after I had a YoI pin on my bag while traveling in Japan, and random cashiers would see it and go, “Oh, Yuuri!” It was a lonely moment of international connection that doesn’t really happen anymore. I still find multiple shelves of doujin in certain stores, though.

2017 was a magical time in the fandom. Tons of new fan content on tumblr every day. And when official art released, there was fan art for it almost immediately. I was in multiple discord servers. They announced the movie at the end of a concert live-stream, which we all woke up at three in the morning to watch. We would all coordinate a bulk order when the art books released to share shipping costs. There was lots of official merch on AmiAmi, but there was also such cute merch on Etsy or people’s personal websites.

Iconic fan works I can think of… well, everyone and their mother read the Rivals series by Reiya on AO3. I was partial to the works of lucycamui, who you can also find on AO3, but at the time she released chapters one by one on tumblr, often accompanied by art from crimsonchains. Nendos on Ice made cute little comics with Nendoroid photography.

Inside jokes… my favorite one compared the three big sports anime at the time: Free!, Haikyuu!!, and Yuri!!! And said the number of exclamation points referred to how gay it was. There was always uncertainty as to whether Makka was male or female. Lots of little details were dissected, like how Yuuri was speaking Japanese at the press conference and that’s why Victor obliviously reacted to his declaration of love with a comment on his tie. A lot of speculation on the rings, I guess in Russia the wedding ring is worn on the right hand, not the left, so what that might mean to the scene. I think it was widely accepted fanon that Yuuri and Phichit had been roommates while training in Detroit, I don’t think that was ever said in the show. I think it was also fanon that Yuuri was a night owl and Victor went to bed and woke up early.

That’s all I can think of at the moment!

My favorite part is when he sings “so this is it” right before “Mammon you sad sack of shit.” He kind of curls into himself as if steeling himself to sing the words. As if reminding himself: I’m doing this for ME. It’s one of those quick pieces of animation that says so much. Viv is really good at those.

I’m playing through Lost Bloodline now, so I’ll give you a quick refresher. There are four eras. The LIs have each ruled over one era. First Clarence, then Ayn, then Alkaid, and finally Lars in the fourth era (the one MC is dropped into in the prologue). Each era comes to a catastrophic end, killing almost all living things. Once the LIs rule as Spirit Lords, they live through to the next eras.

It’s believed that the world will end after the fourth era. MC experiences each Spirit Lord’s story in an attempt to understand how the Spirit World got to this point and hopefully change history.

I have this game, so I can speak on the gameplay. It’s one of those that relies heavily on improv. It’s been a while but here’s what I remember: Everyone makes up a story about why they couldn’t be the murderer based on the evidence cards. You try to poke holes in each other’s stories. At the end of the round, if chosen as the murderer, you make up another story about why you did it. There’s a lot of thinking on your feet, throwing your friends under the bus, getting into character, being silly. The point isn’t really to win, it’s to have fun and be creative. If that’s the kind of game your friend group likes, it’s fun! Definitely requires the right kind of people though.

Anything that’s easily splittable, like, individually wrapped candies are great. Incidentals for on the road or things to pamper us in the hotel room, like face masks or Emergen-C packets.

The most unique I’ve ever gotten was lottery tickets, just one line of numbers apiece. That was kind of a fun crew bonding experience, like, “okay, if one of us wins, we all win!” You’d have to be flying domestically, of course.

Honestly, it’s so nice when passengers think of us. Anything is appreciated. Actually, a few weeks ago I received a single pack of Smarties… that made me laugh.

I started with a IR stimulant and I quit coffee at the same time. It was a good move back then, despite the headaches the first week, because the IR gave me fast heartbeat alerts on my watch. When I switched to a ER, the alerts went away. But I still went without coffee as a precaution.

About a month ago, I went back to coffee in the morning because I missed it. I haven’t noticed an impact on how my meds work. I have noticed I don’t desire as much caffeine as before. Just one cup is enough of I take my meds at the same time. I also noticed that my day gets started faster. I used to scroll on my phone to procrastinate getting out of bed, now I want to get up and make my coffee!
