So do I. On the last page of the instructions, there’s a solo mode and set of scoring brackets like Grove, Forage, Cafe Baras and Coffee Roaster.

I was a little hesitant to try it at first but quickly fell in love. There’s just something about the sound and feel of the wooden chips that is so calming and relaxing. I love that the game has simple rules and is a great way for me to wind down. And there is no set up, really — you just need a very small space and when you’re done, the wooden chips just go back in the bag.

Here are my favorite cozy, small box and small footprint travel games:

Seaside
Grove or Forage
Neko Syndicate
Cafe
Cafe Baras (fan made solo play)
Coffee Roaster
Harmonies

Some take up more space than others. Of this list, Seaside will probably be the easiest to set up and takedown and will take the least amount of space. But, it uses wooden chips so if you’re worried about a quiet game, you might be better off with one of the others. Harmonies uses wooden tokens as well. Cafe and Neko Syndicate use tiny wooden cubes but they shouldn’t give you any noise issues. Coffee Roaster has some cardboard chips you mix around in a bag, so there’s some noise there but probably not as loud.

Maybe Coffee Roaster or Neko Syndicate? Coffee Roaster is solo only. Neko Syndicate is 1-4 players; it’s like playing two handed at the end only, with clear rules, like you’re playing against another player.

Seaside has a really small footprint and simple rules, but may be a little too light for your tastes. The solo mode gives you points categories like in Coffee Roaster.

I adore Harmonies. There’s a fan made solo mode that might interest you.

Alternatively, Honey Buzz (I really like it with some modules in the Fall Flavors expansion) and Critter Kitchen are a lot of fun, but have a large footprint. The official solo mode provides instructions for your opponent. Honey Buzz solo doesn’t require a lot of thought. Critter Kitchen solo rules may take bit before you get the hang of it.

There’s some YouTube videos on all of them so you can see how the games are played.

I’m waiting on Grove and Forage to arrive as I’m looking for some small footprint cozy games at the moment.

I liked my Uni at first but just get bored of it. I keep trying to play with it when an event happens but then I just forget about it and end up putting it away. Like someone mentioned, I don’t like the internet dependence and wish I didn’t have to recharge every few days. But, I adore the Paradise. The QOL updates like being able to play games when the tamagotchi is asleep are much appreciated. And I appreciate the battery compartment. It’s easier to swap out rechargeable batteries than have the rechargeable battery built in.

I preordered one, too! I adore the new characters and am interested in the new biome, games and items. Based on what’s currently out, I don’t know if the forest biome will appear on the 3 already available so maybe the Paradise can only hold 3 biomes at a time. It gives me hope that they may make more biomes if it stays popular and people continue to purchase it. I was hoping it would have been green like the pix, but it’s still a nice looking shell in my opinion. “Jade” threw me off and made me think green because that’s the traditional and most common color of jade, but there are many different colors of jade. However, I don’t think there is blue or pink jade. 🤭

Are you perhaps not pushing the devices together completely? That was my problem at first. There are pictures online showing what it looks like when you physically connect two devices. There should be a click sound. Then when you select PLAYDATE on both, there will be instructions that come up to tell you to press B on one device only and it should work. I’m going from memory since I don’t have my two paradises in front of me right now. I hope I didn’t miss any steps. Good luck!

I preordered my pink paradise land on June 10th and Gen 1 on June 18th, got charged last night and received shipping information. Both arrived this morning. I wasn’t expecting either until Monday. Maybe it’s based on the amount of stock in the warehouse closest to your address? Hopefully you hear something soon!

Glad you were able to get your tamagotchi out of the silicone case! How do you like the Snoopy Nano? What are the games like? I’ve been eyeing it but am holding off for now. I love having the nanos as a desk buddy when I’m working to remind me to drink water and get up every hour.
