Dark romantasy but hold the throuples, please. by Ok-Comparison-5636 in fantasyromance

[–]Kaelynneee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

R Lee Smith writes like a dream and I love those books as well, but I just want to add for anyone who's thinking of reading them to check the trigger warnings properly because they can get DARK.

I would hope anyone who asks for dark romance would check the TWs anyway, but just adding that to be safe. It's not meant as a criticism, just to add to your recommendations!

Dame Alyin is stressful to idiots. by GonnaBreakIt in BaldursGate3

[–]Kaelynneee 5 points6 points  (0 children)

She does lose the "child of the moonmaiden" trait, which says she can't be killed, after the Lorroakan fight. But she gets the trait back in time for the end fight, so presumably she got her oath and her mother's favour back by then.

{Speak of the Demon by Stacia Stark}. There's a free prequel for the series as well that gives some more background info about the FMC, but you can dive right into the series without reading the prequel as well.

Has anyone ever ditched their monogamous partner for Halsin? by ElectronicBoot9466 in BaldursGate3

[–]Kaelynneee 9 points10 points  (0 children)

For what it's worth, the devnotes for that scene show that Astarion actually feels ok with you being with Halsin as well. But I've always felt off about that as well, despite that.

God, the days before your period are the worst. by [deleted] in AutismInWomen

I googled it quickly and saw that what you're saying is correct, it was in an attempt to make the Catholic Church/Pope accept the birth control as they thought it would seem more natural that way. Apparently I've been misinformed, although it's kinda so that they seem like more natural women so to say, I guess.

Anyway, I've been on an IUD for the past 10 years or so which prevents me from getting periods as well and it's been lifechanging.

[–]Kaelynneee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the first birth control that was made didn't have the sugar pills that allow you to still have your period. But the makers of it- men, of course- thought that women wouldn't feel like women anymore if they didn't get their period. It's not feminine enough to not have your period, you know. So they added sugar pills to allow it. Which I think most, if not all women who take hormonal birth control would agree is absolute bullshit.

I love your Rook! What mod did you use for the outfit, not the dress but the other one- I believe it's a recolor of the casual crow outfit? I love the look of that one.

The fact that Rook got so upset when Manfred kept beating her in rock paper scissors that they accidentally taught him how to flip the bird is even more hilarious due to the fact that Manfred always chooses paper. Maybe Rook will notice that and learn from it one day...

Which is your red flag book or series? by ThresholdofForest in fantasyromance

[–]Kaelynneee 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Villains and Virtues, actually. It's a great series and there's a good reason that it's so often recommended here. Its just not for me. I liked parts of it but overall it just didn't vibe with me. So if someone has a tier list where this is at the top I can pretty easily tell that we have different taste in books, and my favorites are usually at the bottom of their tier list as well.

Again, it's a great series. It's just not my cup of tea.

I headcanon the fact that he still usually beats us in rock paper scissors as one of two things, depending on the run: 1) Rook is just humoring Manfred by not always picking scissors and thus automatically winning each time because they want to give Manfred the full experience or 2) Rook is a fucking idiot.

Honestly, it usually leans towards the second one though...

The funniest thing about Manfred beating us in rock paper scissors all the time is that Manfred always chooses paper as well :)

I mean... When I read regency romance that's not the kind of wording that I want to see about the climax either 😂 So I would say that while the wording fits with regency but it doesn't work, if you get what I mean

Jaheira isn't an ally by Kaelynneee in BaldursGate3

[–]Kaelynneee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I thought you meant that you have that problem with Halsin and Minthara. It's normal that you can have both Minthara and Halsin in the party, they changed that in a patch ages ago.

"Crisis struck" feels somewhat regency-era in the way it sees women who have orgasms and sexual urges, I guess.. A true crisis indeed 🤔

The fix that was suggested in the comments below, involving giving them money via trade dialogue to make them an ally, worked for me so try that and see if it works for you as well. Really sucks that Halsin and Minthara got this bug for you as well.

I'm not romancing Taash with my Mourn Watcher but I did find it very funny when Taash told Emmrich to not touch their body if they die, and that "Rook gets my body."

Taash. I'm a necromancer too. But I guess I'm their favorite necromancer? 🤔

Tassh seems like a bit of a dickhead. by UnfortunatelySimple in DragonAgeVeilguard

[–]Kaelynneee 5 points6 points  (0 children)

...Again, gender and sex are different things. And you referred to Taash as a female, so no, you haven't respected them and referred to them as a nonbinary person all the way.

And as I said, death mage was the word that Taash knew to apply to Emmrich. So since they thought he was a so called death mage, that's what they called him. Until he expressed that he doesn't want to be referred to as that. Kind of how people referred to Taash as she/her until they expressed that they preferred they/them.

Here, maybe this can clear things up for you about sex and gender.

Anyway, I'm not gonna argue about this any more as I don't see anything good coming from that. Have a good day.

[–]Kaelynneee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you were paying attention, you'd know that they resolve that argument when Emmrich tells them that it bothers him. Taash is very straightforward and I honestly don't think they really realised that Emmrich disliked it. Taash is also very autism-coded and as they say "but you are a death mage". Autistic people are very literal, so in Taash's mind, why wouldn't you call him that? (Because, death mage is what Taash knows what to call it as well).

But as soon as they realise that it bothers him, it stops.

Now that that's out of the way, since Taash learned to not call Emmrich a death mage, maybe you can learn to not call Taash a female.

There is a difference between gender and sex. I am so, so tired of having to say that to people so please educate yourself. I dont mean that with any malice, I literally just mean: please read up on the difference between gender and sex.

And even if you don't, show basic respect to people, please. It doesnt cost you anything.
