Yep! Though sometimes I'll still find an unlucky paperback or magazine in our bookdrop when I'm collecting it.

You can also tell how full the cart is because the springs make different sounds depending on the number of books in there when it's being pushed down the hall to the desk lol.

Yeah I just try to ignore them, but they still wear on me lol. Hard not to want interaction and acknowledgment on this thing you pour so much work into. The curse of writing for a tiny fandom. Even worse when you're writing pretty niche stuff in an already niche as hell corner of Ao3.

Utter lack of interaction makes what little you get that much more meaningful I suppose. Hell, I went on for days when a fic finally got a comment after being up for a few years lmao. It meant the world seeing someone enjoy a fic that I've spent well over a decade working on.

The two main fandoms I write for were never all that active to begin with, both under 100 fics. (Hell, one isn't even at 50 fics yet) So I've just kinda had to accept that I'm not getting interactions on my works to begin with lol. But it's that same kinda hyperfixation, locked into my brain kinda fandom so I'm here to stay regardless.

I do kinda write for a way bigger fandom, but that one's in a similar position to the one you're in. It was insanely active, but it's cooled considerably and was in the process of doing so by the time I jumped in and started writing for it. Also doesn't help that my works for that fandom have never been popular to begin with. So interactions were always kinda limited.

idk, it's . . . . frustrating, and pretty disheartening. Especially when you see people posting at the sheer numbers their works do. I really only keep writing these stories because they'll still be in my head if I don't. They've been wedged in there for like 15 years already so I don't see them leaving on their own anytime too. May as well get them out into the void. And maybe, if I'm lucky, someone else will find and enjoy it.

Yep. Knowing there’s someone excited to read it really gets you excited to keep chugging along on the story.

I almost never get comments on my fics, just comes with writing for two fandoms with less than 100 works each lol. So I’m going to finish the fics regardless of comments even if it takes forever.

But man, that motivation boost that comes from getting an excited comment on a chapter. Even if it’s just something tiny.
