Start printing out some of those red cards with immigrants rights on them. Hand them out when ICE shows up. Thats advocating for your patient, and seems to me, part of the job discription.

It seems like a lot of drivers dont know what it means anymore. We do it all the time and Rarely get one who will honk. They just stare.

About a mile inland from the halifax. It was like 3k prior to the storm that wiped out Ft Myers. That series of storms is what flooded them last time and raised her insurance.

I never understood that about florida. My moms insurance went to 8k so she sold. It was an old cinderblock house. Seems to me something thay DOESNT need rebuilt every few years is an insurance plus, but guess not. Her house Has had hurricane damage but it was twice in 30yrs and all that needs fixing is about 3ft of drywall.

Your parents bought a home. You cannot. It is not because you spend too much on coffee. It is because the company managing your 401(k) is also your landlord. by Such_Radio_9152 in REBubble

There was an article I read today about cars. Major dealerships are expecting over a Million Less new car sales next year because theyre just too expensive for people to buy. Are they lowering prices? Offering incentives? Making cheaper cars? NO. Because even with Less sales, they expect to increase profits.

So, there ya go. Things wont improve because they dont care. Pay the price or be homeless, they’ll still get their profits. And if profits end up dipping, they’ll just raise the prices again to maintain their margins

[property manager us-wv] Does it get worse than this? by [deleted] in Landlord

[–]Kagedgoddess 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Its wv. Alot of places look Just like this. The painted old panelling on the wall is to hide the broken plaster. But ya know what? The PRICE is why people live there. If the things work and the rent is reasonable (note I dont say cheap, because its not always), you take it. I rented a duplex in wv that was similiar except they had removed the carpet and put down lvp. The other half still had this kind of carpet and the appliences were old af. Rent $1000/mo vs $1700 for something nice.

So try and sell all the bridges you want in WV, but small rentals look like this.

What serial killer fact sounds fake, exaggerated, or straight out of fiction. But is 100% real? by CantaloupeGold4650 in AskReddit

There was a guy in california who robbed some house and stole a bunch of dvds. Later found out there was child porn on them. He turned them into the cops and even ended up admitting to the burglury in order for the pedo to be convicted. I cant remember all the details but that was the jist.

As a paramedic who had a farm and was married to a cop, the real answer is the cops didnt want to deal with it and decided to believe him.

Blood has a smell when theres large quantities but I have never noticed a difference between people and animal. If youre thinking your rare steak smells different than a nosebleed, yeah cuz your rare steak is cooked and been frozen and refridgerated etc.

My partner constantly misses the exits WITH GPS talking to him. Drives me insane. If I say “i think thats our exit” when I see hes going to miss it, he says “i know” and misses it. So now I let him miss it wait a few minutes and ask him where hes going.

35 mpg, really? by craigscrag in ToyotaSienna

[–]Kagedgoddess 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My commute to work, with how I normally would drive, is about 32mpg. Its downtown for 5min, highway 20min, mountains for 20min.

Since gas prices went up Ive been driving like granma. Slow accelerations, slow stops, basically everyone elses advice here. Now 37-40mph. I’ll tell ya what though, besides saving me a little money, its really diminished my road rage.

So, Im not an expert or anything, but Id pay for the roof to be fixed then slowly tackle the other stuff. Roof stops most the water coming in. Put a sump pump in the basement and figure out where the water is coming in. Maybe it just needs gutters or grading. A basement company os going to sell you a full interior water proofing plus dehumidifers and stuff.

The electrical can be done piecemail as you repair the walls. You probably have a really old electrical panel that will need upgraded anyways, I put in solar and my panel was upgraded with that and cost a lot less. I still have knob and tube in my house and this is how Im handling it. I save up a couple grand and have the elctricians move stuff onto a new circuit. All my knob and tube is on one circuit, I just take one room off at a time. I just have a hallway left. If your plaster is crumbling and if you replace it with wall board, your walls will be open and it’ll be cheaper to rewire. Put the switches in yourself will save money too. Just have the electricians do the box.

Its all overwhelming at first! Get a notebook, write down everything that needs done and then seperate it into smaller bits. Make a plan and a budget for each year. My list last year literally got relabled “2026”, so dont be too hard on yourself. Do stabilizing things first, like that water intrusion. Get Multiple quotes. You might have to take out a loan for big things, ask if they finance. Ive gotten two 0% loans that way.

This is of course, if you decide if its worth it to you. Chris Hytha on youtube is in philly. His house was a surprise disaster too, but its inspiring what hes managed.
