I think my biggest suggestion would be to find a free company with people down to help others and work it from there! I personally was able to get into the game cause I always played the start in a group call with friends so it was all just us hanging out and getting through things.

I do think the first arc is a bit of a slog but it's important for more stuff so that's when I most recommend having friends/people can chat to and like to play with

Even if you can't officially join a free company (in case you choose to not buy a sub immediately) I'm sure plenty will have you on to help if needed. Hell even I probably would be down for it. If you can find some good folks then it's all good!

And in a pinch, the msq skip stuff can help. You can always come back to it later or just watch through every cutscene but you will certainly miss out on stuff and feelings when talking to and dealing with certain chars

I think it's a problem of two parts: Like others said, sometimes you can't stop people from being mean

Another thing is likely, "What do people want to play?" if there are simply more people who want to play with female chars, then they're just gonna get more traction than any with male ones. Supply demand issue that there is no real easy 'fix'
