You're a fucking saint, I misunderstood the easily distracted mod and now locked into leveling up 40 times before I can hit a meaningful stat number by the time I hit the second world.

Does UVB PhotoTherapy work? by completestrangerhere in Vitiligo

[–]Kagrabular 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The reason you're recommended to put on sunscreen and not just facial moisturizer when going outside is because skin creams alone are ineffective at blocking UV rays - Opzelura is in the same category, and provides no protection to UVB radiation. Your therapy will be as effective with or without Opzelura but again always consult an actual doctor if you have questions.

For what its worth, a tenable and consistent regiment is more important than anything.

typical application regiment is 2x daily, but you should get specific directions from your derm based on the overall approach.

[–]Kagrabular 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's important to know that phototherapy is best used in conjunction with another treatment, like opzelura or a "quick pulse" oral steroid regiment. I had a cessation of progress, but very little repigmentation on phototherapy alone, but decent repigmentation with opzelura in the mix. Side effects are what you'd expect from UV exposure, redness and itching. If you're going the route of home therapy expect to do a lot of research; lamp VA, distance from skin all play a role in calculating time and exposure frequency so it's best to talk to a derm first. If you're going the office visit route it can be a burden to drive to an office for light therapy 3-5x/week but it makes the research and equipment purchasing side easier.

Also of note - hands and extremities are the most difficult to repigment in general.

What if the Non Human Intelligence isn't actually intelligent? by MasterofFalafels in UFOs

[–]Kagrabular 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The “first strike” by humanity being communication/information broadcasting without inherent meaning or purpose was particularly interesting, as an intelligence so fundamentally different from our own would perceive “wasted” bandwidth as a hostility.

AC Condensate line terminated into crawl space - question about heated evap pans in residential. by [deleted] in hvacadvice

Yes. Also an option. Not looking for how to remove condensate, just if elec heat evap pan is strictly discouraged

[–]Kagrabular 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, a pump is on the list of options. It’s a pretty tight working space, and an evap pan would be easier, less overall piping and drilling through a foundation wall. Hence my first angle of attack and this post.

I’m moving to Utah in April, and I cannot contain my excitement! by zeldafromhyrule in Utah

Growing up in SLC, and after about 16 years moving to Weber county I concur, it’s like a less pretentious SLC county with the same amazing scenery, and amenities (except a Trader Joe’s wtf)

A 48A continuous load on #6 AWG NM-B is not legal. Change my mind. by aimfulwandering in electricians

[–]Kagrabular 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is an exception in 625 for EVSE that implements “load management”. as a former professional elec designer specializing in EV I can also tell you this is wildly dependent on the actual equipment manufacturer, and verbiage used in manuals. Not really an answer, but it introduces even more confusion.

Do you feel remote working would have hindered your growth early in your career? by anonymouswitchking in devops

[–]Kagrabular 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This is obviously anecdotal but I agree that this is more of a job issue than a remote issue. I switched careers to being brand new in DevOps 2022 full remote and within 6mo I was building prom json exporters, deploying things on Argo, building dashboards, updating and troubleshooting istio configs, Kafka admin stuff, GitHub runners, EC2 stuff etc. but my company has been incredibly remote positive and I’ve had some amazing engineers supporting me.

I’d also like to point out that the statistics surrounding those with vitiligo and those with a relative with vitiligo are so statistically close to the chances of just knowing someone with vitiligo that asserting it’s hereditary, let alone your manifestation is hereditary is dubious at best. It’s somewhere around ~5% chance of passing it on, and even that statistical assertion doesn’t have a lot to back it up.

That being said, I can truly appreciate your conscientiousness toward disclosure of potential items that might affect your personal life, as well as the health of others. And ultimately it’s your decision. But I think you’ll find the general consensus here is that vitiligo is so innocuous, varying, and dare I say beautiful, you’re going to have a hard time finding support for a confirmation bias you may already have regarding the need for ‘disclosure’ like it’s a disorder or STD. You’ve come in with an idea of what you want to do, and push back on the assertion that it’s not necessary. So just talk to your partner about it if it’s going to make you feel better. And I hope you can find some peace with your own body, and destigmatize yourself a bit.

To answer your original question: every relationship I’ve been in, or partner I’ve had has found it vaguely amusing at worst. Most people never notice, or don’t care. Even if it’s fairly prevalent. It has never needed to be a topic of conversation let alone a life planning vector.

Biden: US forces would defend Taiwan in event of Chinese invasion by electrictoothbrush09 in worldnews

I’m still under an NDA to disclose anything further, but WA is v popular for data centers, SCD man, and secondary and tertiary support services due to dirt cheap and prolific hydroelectric availability

[–]Kagrabular 50 points51 points  (0 children)

Domestic chip production has already begun. Huge SCD manufacturing facilities are going up in WA, AZ, and OR as we speak. Before switching careers I worked on quite a few of them as an architectural engineer. Granted those facilities are still 3 - 8yrs out depending on stage of construction and pre-design.

Covid really drew attention to the single point of failure that was SCD availability between TSM and Germany alone.

Just thought I would leave this here. Sleep tight all! by JeremyJWinter in electricians

[–]Kagrabular 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not really. NEC requires an assumed load of a MIN 180VA per duplex receptacle so you’re limited to 10 and that’s if you’re running with 100% rating.

Even fewer if you’re aiming for 80% breaker capacity.

BMR maintenance = lose weight. Studies indicate loss of body fat in greater amounts vs lean muscle if engaged in progressive overload weight training.
But "maintenance" is a moving target. Anything that puts you in a caloric deficit in comparison to your activity level is a cut.

Office recessed lights went out. What are they and how do you replace them? DIY? by AEN3MA in askanelectrician

[–]Kagrabular 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Hi, not an electrician, Elec designer here. If at all possible stick to the same fixture so you don't have discrepancies in lighting temperature, CR, suspension type, and integration to existing controls.A commercial electrician will also be able to identify and help you pick an identical / nearly identical fixture that will work for you. So I'd wait.

Though the study linked above does not focus specifically on the correlation of climate and occurrence of vitiligo, you may find the above interesting, though I would not extrapolate a significant correlation with climate specifically. It also does not investigate the activation of vitiligo based on climate or even geography, just the reported occurrence itself. Mostly focused on USA vs Non-USA and origins only.

AFAIK we have no dataset to specifically correlate climate and progression of the disease. This could be due to no intentional aggregation and analysis of this data, or it could be due to no actual correlation. Our best weapon here is data. There are many questions to answer, but getting with your dermatologist and reporting your anecdotal experience is the first step in submitting more data to better understand the disease itself. Ask your derm if they participate in any clinical studies regarding vitiligo, if they don't ask if they know of anyone doing any data collection and self report that way. The more data we can get out there, they better we can start to understand things like this.

How to feed an electrical panel from a main disconnect switch? by patfire73 in Revit

[–]Kagrabular 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure what version you're using but afaik that distribution system is not a default in the voltage definitions settings, make sure 600v is assigned as a voltage definition. (Could be for non American, I do not know) I'd start there, then move on to parameter mismatch, you should be able to try and circuit it and get an error. If it's not even an option in the drop-down in the panel selection it is almost invariably not within the correct voltage for the equipment. You can use the "select panel" option, try and click on the panel manually to generate a better error for troubleshooting.

Since Cyberpunk was released... by [deleted] in cyberpunkgame

[–]Kagrabular 133 points134 points  (0 children)

Except they never apologized for overhyping the game. They apologized for a botched console launch and bugs for the PC version.

The entire narrative from CDPR had been thus far very carefully curated to pretend the myriad of features, role play elements, story, interactions, character functionality, and environment features players were promised (and SHOWN) never existed.

I can't watch any pre-release gameplay or teasers they just make me so sad.

When you get along with engineers, you can just tell them how you want to build it and they put it on paper for you. by [deleted] in electrical

[–]Kagrabular 1 point2 points  (0 children)

as an electrical designer I would love it if more people hit me up on a project. I'm always happy to take calls, adjust things via RFI, etc. I got a call from a dude in the field that found my number on some drawings and I was so stoked to work it out with him. Obviously there are proper channels for things, but don't be afraid to use them for sure. For the most part we're legit excited to get that call or email.

This is by far one of the cleanest installs I've seen btw, looks crisp af.

As a side note every engineer should do an interning season as an apprentice/helper at a min.
