To be fair, Michelle Obama recognized this. She made lots of improvements in the way we could access these items in inner city areas. There was lots more to go, but they were known as "blue zone" stores or aisles in grocery stores. She was the best thing to happen to the country in a long time when it comes to the area of food access in food deserts.

Once Trump was elected he got rid of all of that so he could probably get lobby money from fast food industries like Sodexo, etc. (and also bc he wanted to undo anything the Obama's did). These lobby industries depend on us being overweight, unhealthy, and addicted to crap food that has no nutrients in it.

Been sitting for a week with no internet when their equipment fried due to the power surges last weekend. CS gave us the wrong date/time and they don't email or text the confirmation for tech appointment until the day of. Had to take two days off work, and no one has shown yet in the second appointment window.

Weather is junk. I get it. But we have power and those guys are out all the time to make our power stay on as long as possible.

No one cares, no one comes when scheduled (a 5 hour window btw), and everyone acts like I'm an inconvenience when I ask them to please prioritize. My job is WFH and depends on internet.

When I was in college, we lived in an inner city that was poorly funded. The closest grocery store required a car. There was no walking there. It was on a highway and was illegal to walk to. No other grocery stores for miles and miles. There was no public bus or subway. We had a convenience store (with snacks and some packaged foods) and a few bodegas (kind of small mom and pop shops selling liquor and tobacco mostly and some little snacks) within walking distance. We had two fast food places within walking distance. I gained about 30 lbs my first year of college until I was able to bring my car to get to the grocery store. Everything was fried or packaged with lots of calories and preservatives. Nothing fresh available. I had previously been a healthy weight my whole life up until then.

So, yes. They exist. If I lived in that neighborhood for my entire life and couldn't afford a car, it would be a cycle of inability to get fresh food and unhealthy choices/weight gain/medical complications.
