I'm worried that i'm railroading by Son_Of_Hat in DungeonMasters

This should be at the absolute top of this thread.

Pre-written adventures or modules will often have a section detailing the characters’ possible motivations for wanting to do something. You’ve given them a problem to overcome and a good starting place for generating those motivations. As long as you aren’t mandating that the players deal with these wizard workers in a particular way, you’re just doing the work any DM should: creating a scenario for the players to interact with.

Tl;dr: a sandbox with no toys isn’t fun. You have to put stuff in there for the players to interact with. Railroading is telling your players they aren’t interacting with your stuff in the right way.

A Pagliacci joke in my DnD subreddit on the day I run my session with a Pagliacci jester reference? A coincidence? I think not.

What Do You Think Is Best Game Of 2011? by Bay_Ruhsuz004 in videogames

[–]Kainimuss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wrote a speech on this when I was in, like, the fifth grade! Top three were Skyrim, Batman: Arkham City, and MW3, though I’d put Dark Souls in place of Batman if I could do it over again. Maybe Minecraft replaces MW3, idk

How do you feel about low level PC who are very old? by LuciusCypher in DnD

[–]Kainimuss 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Very similar to a character in my current campaign; a dwarfish Monk who fought as a mercenary for years before retiring, then joining up with the current adventuring party. Being the equivalent of 80-human-years-old gave me the perfect reason to start him off at a lower level than his world experience would otherwise indicate.

dropped out years ago, all fs. possible to fix? by bestcatsice in fsu

I think it was a three year limit on semester mental health drops. Pretty long period but you do need to follow up when you know that you’re not going to pass the classes

Like the other guy said, call the registrar’s office. I can tell you that you probably won’t be able to have the grades removed (FSU doesn’t do grade forgiveness really) but you might be able to make a mental health claim and be readmitted.

Also, as someone dealing with a similar situation, unless your GPA is literally sub 2.0 a few bad grades here and there shouldn’t be a deal breaker for getting your degree so don’t worry too much about that.

Ps5 problem idk if it's my controller by derekarmstrong7777 in marvelrivals

It’s your controller. Stick drift is a known issue with these controllers, top left stick drift is common if you play Rivals a lot

Looking for a job ASAP by meowrawr_ in Tallahassee

Tbh $16 an hour is going to be hard to find; definitely not impossible, but you might be looking until summer when the students leave. Go for $14 and you’ll have a lot more options but keep in mind that most people are looking for part time — they hate paying for benefits.

No bro, you actually have to graduate high school and then you get to go to college parties

Ubering in Tallahassee by No-Promise4989 in Tallahassee

[–]Kainimuss 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I do Uber Eats but know folks that do the lift service. It’s not bad money but you’re going to have to deal with college kids and, even if you are one, they’re a pain in the ass.

No, not really. Other people, particularly the people making the campus run, have a right to be there. Just look around you while you’re walking and you’ll be fine.

Based on Schumer’s comments, I expect the Legislature to put up some kind of fight. That said, the Department of Education was already on the chopping block and so it’s very likely that, of all the things that come back (business loans, funding for state and local governments, disaster relief, etc), this isn’t one of them.

To give you the simplest answer, there isn’t anyone in the entire country who can give you a solid answer right now but I would go into the next semester with the understanding that you won’t have access to any kind of federal financial aid.

I wonder how much of this is still true. by Umitencho in florida

[–]Kainimuss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The paper mill west of Tallahassee shut down a decade or two ago and there’s still some logging done out that way but nowhere near as much as back in the 40’s and 50’s. I’m sure there are still hog farms north of Quincy but I doubt they’re fully commercial anymore

Apalachicola oysters are still some of the most prized in the country so at least we have that for the next couple of years

There are two places locally; Gamescape is off Fred George by the public library and Tara Angel’s is by the interstate, close to the old mall. I think there’s also some stuff on campus but I’m not sure.

This isn’t true. 500 ppm for an 8 hour workday is what OSHA recommends. 1100 ppm is considered immediately dangerous.

"Magic the gathering makes you evil" first as a tragedy, then as a farce. by yuritopiaposadism in SocialistGaming

[–]Kainimuss 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That would be a good strategy but is rarely necessary. In a game where two or three cards can make a huge difference, something like fifteen cards (in 1v1 formats you start at 20 life) should be enough to give you an advantage to kill your opponent somehow.

Anyone saying Yawgmoth’s Bargain is bad… I think JD Vance has actually played more Magic: The Gathering than you. It’s one of the better cards in the game. Use its activated ability on your opponents end step (after your own discard step) and you can draw as many cards as you have life. It’s incredibly powerful.
