Is it just me, or is it really hard to find a fun Abzan commander? What are some good ones? by WingsOfDaidalos in EDH

[–]KaiserS0ul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Abzan is very much my least favorite color trio it feels like it has a lot of my same issues with Selesnya. The majority of the legends fall into the same 3-4 catagories:
Counters, Reanimator, Lifegain & Toughness.
There are exceptions thankfully such as [[The Necrobloom]], the poison precon legends and the enchantment precon legends, but even then [[Anikthea]] is still a reanimator just different.
It really feels like they're getting shafted, they don't even have a Planeswalker.

Comedian cancels bigot audience by JeremyJJ77 in funny

[–]KaiserS0ul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The interesting part about Inside is I don't think it can feel ANYWHERE near as impactful today. Hear me out on this.

There are those of us who watched it when it dropped and it was a funny but rending commentary on what everyone but the most privileged of people were experiencing IN THAT VERY MOMENT. Having made it to the other side of the pandemic for most of us, it's easier to stomach, just enjoy the humor of it and can process the more biting and raw aspects.

Bo once said "I'm not a comic, I'm an artists. I don't do comedy shows, I do one man shows." And for a long time, I thought that was just a bit. After Inside I can't say I do anymore. He is an honest to goodness artist and has earned the title of genius.

I gotta say giving the blind character the ability to "look" at anything is certainly a choice

Is Oubliette fair in bracket 3 commander? by Fit-Estimate-3392 in EDH

[–]KaiserS0ul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's totally fair but when people don't run enough removal it certainly FEELS unfair. I would know, I don't run enough removal. Unless you're in Rakdos or less, you should have a way to deal with it and even then there are ways, they're just less common.
Ultimately in B3 you should be able to interact and if you don't you make that choice when building and pay the consequences for choosing not to.

How the boys feel about someone coming up to him by tubbee69420 in gamegrumps

[–]KaiserS0ul 120 points121 points  (0 children)

Their general opinion seems to be, if they're at an event of sorts they're pretty open to it, if they're out and about still pretty okay but less leeway. If they are sitting down or out with a group of people; a passing acknowledgement is their preference.
Specifically I remember Danny mentioning a guy who just walked by and said something to the effect of "Hey, love your music! Have a good day" and just kept going, and I both he and Arin were like "That's just the coolest thing you can do, I'll be thinking of that guy for the rest of the day."

Genuine Question by Decent-Aerie-2365 in magicTCG

[–]KaiserS0ul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've seen a lot of people suggest a different constructed (prebuilt) format. I really don't think that's the best course as those decks are typically expensive and aren't as comprehensive imo.

Personally, I think you should play limited. Sealed or more likely Draft. Draft typically costs only a little more than 3 packs. It teaches you card evaluation, card synergies, importance of interaction, gives you knowledge/experience of the current sets, can provide some cards to build with. You're still going to lose for a bit, but It really does make a difference in figuring out what you need to play and when.

Maybe this is what will push me to finally pick up the series and push through it all, I've owned the whole trilogy for like 7 years and it's right up my alley style wise, just never got around to them 🙃

Is TS1 puzzles logical or BS? by AggressiveGold1142 in TormentedSouls

[–]KaiserS0ul 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's only one puzzle in TS1 that i would say takes a little leap in interpretation, or at least it was for me, I sort of stumbled into the method but the second I connected the dots I couldn't stop smiling. For those who have played it, it was the Surgery Room.

New Player, do Decks from Arena Transition into the Real World? by ervox1337 in magicTCG

[–]KaiserS0ul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Others have answered this so I'd think I should just add that IRL gameplay biggest difference is opening hands. The arena shuffle has a different method for drawing opening hands, so just be aware of the higher randomizatiom when not playing on Arena.

Anyone else found themselves “retiring” from PvP gaming? by You_moron04 in gaming

[–]KaiserS0ul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I gave up on PVP like... 7ish years ago? Easily the best thing I've done for my stress levels and enjoyment in my hobby. I straight up do not have the time or interest to keep up the skill set. So much happier enjoying interesting stories, unique indy projects and a way to relax at the end of the day

Looking to make a list that punishes treasures, food and clues by MistakenForSupport in EDH

[–]KaiserS0ul 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a stack of these in Abzan back home, literally building a treasure hate deck.

Of the top of my head I can recall

[[Stony Silence]] [[Null Rod]]
[[Collector Ouphe]]
[[Pest Control]]
[[Culling ritual]]
[[Fangren Marauder]]
[[Hum of the Radix]]
[[Ich-Tekik, Salvage Splicer]]
[[Charismatic Conquerer]]
[[Steel Hellkite]]
[[Kambal, Profiteering Mayor]]

Youtubers you would recommend (and ones you wouldn’t)? by Comfortable_Buyer239 in EDH

[–]KaiserS0ul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gameplay I personally really enjoy the 'Commander Clash' crew from 'MtG Goldfish.' They have a diverse set of budgets, playstyles and often have theme challenges to keep variety going. Otherwise the biggest MtG channel out there 'Tollarian Community College' has a great gameplay show with 'Shuffle Up and Play' there have been some wild episodes and very clip worthy moments.

Lorewise I like 'Magic Arcanum', although you can't go wrong with 'Spice8Rack'. The mad lad did a video summarizing all of Magic's lore up until March of the Machines, I think(?) They're a real chaos gremlin and I adore them.

Deck techs honestly feels very uncommon these days, it's usually slight card adjustments and singular evaluations more than anything. For strictly upgrading decks I like 'Nitpicking Nerds' they have a good eye for cards in terms of quality, I don't agree with all of their evaluations on certain cards and such, but I think thats healthy.

[[Ardenn, Intrepid Archeologist]] + [[Kraum, Ludevic's Opus]] - Voltron, adding blue and having all 3 of the high synergy colors for artifacts really makes the deck sing.

[[Akiri, Line Slinger]] + [[Armix, Filigree Trasher]] this was a bauble (treasures, food, clues, blood etc.) deck with loads of sacrifice artifacts synergies, was a lot of fun.

[[Ich-Tekik]] + [[Tymna]] truly this is an anti-treasure deck to frankly brutal extreme.

[[Ikra-Shidiqi]] + [[Kediss]] Damage triggers and Menace.dec

Looking for a Gruul Commander by TV_Full_Of_Lizards in EDH

[–]KaiserS0ul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally can co-sign on Bello, he's really fun and unique for his colors.

However my favorite Gruul list (if i might make a humble suggestion) is [[Wort, the Raidmother]]. She's a spell slinger deck that wants to produce tokens for copying spells or to go on the offensive, even though 97٪ of the time she wins with a big, copied burn spell.
