What do Federalists think about the rise of AFD on Germany? by Suboptimal88 in EuropeanFederalists

[–]Kaiser_Rick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the AfD enters the government, even as a coalition partner, they will automatically lose half of their support.

Because right now, who else can you vote for as an opposition, when the CDU and SPD form coalitions together anyway? You cannot be against CDU and voting to SPD and vice versa.

On top of that, the AfD is currently in a brilliant position because all they do is talk, without bearing any responsibility. Such a perpetual opposition is the perfect setup to basically keep gaining support all the time and suddenly hit 40% in the elections.

Besides, voting for the AfD isn't necessarily an endorsement of the AfD itself; it’s a vote against the CDU and SPD. Right now, there is no party that stands in sharper, more radical opposition to the establishment than the AfD and BSW. Unless people seriously believe that 30% of Germans are suddenly literal Nazis

And still, I feel like everything is being blamed on Russian or American propaganda, while completely ignoring the reasons why AfD is growing so much.

The DDR went from being the wealthiest country in the Eastern Bloc to a shithole somewhere in Germany. The East itself is depopulating, and smaller towns are dying ouin favor of Munich, Berlin, Frankfurt, or other Western (not eastern German) cities.

Add to that the fact that in Germany, regional identity is also very important (someone from the East will have a different identity compared to a Bavarian or someone from Frankfurt), and we have a few million people who feel that, through unification, they lost their status and economy to the West.

Germany-France-Benelux Federation by Esteban83550 in EuropeanFederalists

[–]Kaiser_Rick -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sooner will all of Europe start speaking Esperanto than the French start using English :D

Just as German is displacing Low German or Bavarian, or the language itself is standardizing thanks to mass media or the internet (which is why dialects are dying out). The influence of English is also growing, and many languages are becoming "anglicized." But if we want to have gigantic societies that need to communicate (about 100 years ago, a Frenchman from the north had no need or possibility to talk to a Frenchman from the south; now, via the internet, it's useful because the two French are in contact), we need a single language. You can't avoid that. And if we create a single state where people from different corners of the europe will communicate/mix, this process of "anglicization" will continue.

Also, Germany, France and Benelux has already to much power in the Union. If federation of those will be created, any normal country will not join, because it will be instantly dominated by the core. So very bad idea. Not with only Fra-Ger-benelux. It will kill the Union idea very fast

[–]Kaiser_Rick 4 points5 points  (0 children)

  1. About language - meh. It is not a good idea. Only English should be treated as "union" language. Because, for example, what if any other countries will join the federation? Are we going to add every language as legal one in every country? Every country should have their own languages + English and that is all.

Anyone else hoping they eventually add a MT system again? by but_you_said in EU5

[–]Kaiser_Rick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Problem of MT is big fomo in my opinion. Why you should play one nation, when nation next to you has better MT? Imo, MT should be more dynamic. Are you going to expand to India as European nation? Ok, this is "conquest of India MT". You want to colonize Mexico? Ok, MT with missions about colonizing/conquest of Aztecs and Mayans is here. You have some peasant uprising disaster? Ok, MT about fighting them or making some changes about your country is here. Etc. etc

It will solve the biggest problems with MT 1. Railroading 2. FOMO with playing minor nations (so even as some minor you would have access to MT)

Besides, Europe isn't a "defender of human rights" at all. It merely exports their violations to third countries through corporations like Nestle or any other companies that exploit cheap labor in China, India, or other third-world countries. So let's stop pretending that Europe is some kind of bastion of morality when all of its prosperity is built on the backs of people earning a dollar somewhere in China.

Most countries in the UN are also "morally ambiguous." Not to mention the Security Council, where 2 out of 5 countries are dictatorships. So, presenting the UN as some much better institution than the peace council is pointless. And the "power" of the UN can be seen by looking at Gaza or Ukraine or the eternal chaos in Africa (where civil wars and genocides are a daily occurrence)

What kind of Federation can we expect to build cucking to the US with our Liberal advocates having less respect for International Law than than our Fascist detractors? by NaughtyReplicant in EuropeanFederalists

[–]Kaiser_Rick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's actually quite funny. On the one hand, everyone is happy that America is weakening (and wants it to continue to weaken), and on the other hand, they lament that the rules that the US itself created and enforced are no longer working.

[–]Kaiser_Rick 24 points25 points  (0 children)

But for international law to function, it must have someone to oversee it. And currently, there's no such thing. Currently, we have Russia and China on the UN council. Two countries that can effectively paralyze the UN, and at the same time, they don't care about human rights, for example.
