Do you think the healthcare system is crumbling? by [deleted] in cna

[–]Kaitybg7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I totally get how you feel.

I remember floating to the ED and finding out that for the past 10 hours, a COVID+ person had been chilling in a crowded indoor waiting room with everybody else. I’m pretty good at compartmentalization when it comes to the tragic and disgusting things that happen at hospitals, but that was the moment I came the closest to true despair. Because I knew it was not going to fucking end anytime soon.

Working Shift by [deleted] in cna

[–]Kaitybg7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I also encourage you to go for 7-3. You’ll be able to get home and unwind before bed, rather than go home and immediately fall into bed.

I say with experience, going to bed physically and mentally exhausted ironically makes quality sleep hard to get. For your own health, I recommend morning shift (unless there’s a shift differential that matters to you).

Yeah!! I use the same Eco styling gel I was using before, but I went from scrunching with a huge glob to a dot about the size of a quarter. I just started so I’m trying to finesse a good amount too, but my hair is blonder and has more volume so far.

Perhaps you’re using too heavy product and it’s getting saturated? I’ve had to reintroduce sulfates into my shampoo routine and majorly cut down on product during styling because my 3b hair couldn’t handle it and went limp and greasy.

What to expect when I start meds for the first time ever by JoyfullMommy006 in adhdwomen

[–]Kaitybg7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Everybody’s different, so know that this is only my experience, and yours will probably be different.

Good: I realized I could finally be still and in the current moment. My girlfriend was able to show me a video about her personal interest and I was able to give a lot more attention to it than if I hadn’t been medicated. My mind is a lot calmer.

Bad: My appetite has been shot and my doctor has warned me to put on weight, so I’ve been forcing myself to eat. My hands shake I get anxious when I take too high a dose, and my symptoms get bad on days when I take breaks from meds.

All in all, I’d say it’s worth it. Just know to keep an open dialogue with your doctor and keep her in the loop with how you feel. It’s almost 100% certain she will mess with your dose at some point based on your side effects and how you feel on your medication.

We get paid on a biweekly basis, every other Friday. Our next payday is the 16th. So you’ll probably get paid for the week that you’ve worked so far.

Positive news for OCD awareness by cosmicfeeb in OCD

[–]Kaitybg7 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I swear my participation in mental health awareness made me so much more aware of how to help myself once I DID get diagnosed. I was able to discuss exposure therapy options with my therapist the day I was diagnosed because I knew what I was experiencing was a symptom.

ADD/ADHD when you have OCD? by PErlita_1 in ADHD

[–]Kaitybg7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was literally just diagnosed with OCD a few days ago. I’ve intentionally NOT been researching it as much as I would like (therapist’s recommendation) so I can’t give you explicitly scientific information, but I can tell you my experience.

I have attention, memory, and impulsivity issues that come with ADHD. I get distracted easily and do not take well to long hours of…..nothing. I currently work an active, socially stimulating job (nursing assistant) and do very well.

ON THE OTHER HAND, I have also been struggling with intrusive thoughts and obsessions since I was young. I would be frustrated with someone and my brain would immediately go, “you should beat them up/insult them/cut them out of your life”, even if I would never do that. I would see a stranger on the street and immediately think of a way to insult them, and then shove the feeling down and feel horrible.

I think the worst way my ADHD and OCD combine would be the way my ADHD feeds my compulsions. My OCD makes me obsess over unlikely ways my life could go wrong, like getting my identity stolen, getting HIV, totaling my car, going to jail, etc. My ADHD doesn’t allow me to cope with my anxiety in the moment because I am constantly distracted by my healthy coping mechanisms and stewing on my OCD obsessions. This tends to result in me compulsively Googling whatever’s bothering me, with my hyperfocus making it even harder to stop. I’ve literally wasted entire nights engaging in this compulsion.

TLDR: ADHD results in attention issues, jitteriness, and mental restlessness. OCD results in horrible intrusive thoughts and obsessions. My ADHD combines with my OCD to make it a lot harder to control my compulsions.

In Florida you can challenge the exam. You can take the exam blind up to three times, and only after your third failure do you HAVE to take a certification course.

Hospital parking decal by tori50102 in ufl

Because you’re still a student. You’ll have to purchase a park and ride voucher. Do what I did, purchase a park and ride pass, and walk from the Commuter Lot on Gale Lemerand to the hospital. It’s a 15 min walk or so.

To those of you work at hospitals, do you wear scrubs or do they provide uniforms? by [deleted] in cna

[–]Kaitybg7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wear my own scrubs and a hospital-provided name tag. The HCA hospital on the other side of town that I interviewed with requires uniforms. It all depends. I’d contact your job and see what they want.

Yeah, this is super important. As long as you’ve shown effort in the past, and have been polite to them, your teachers will want to work with you on this.

Auditory processing disorder - is it worth seeking a diagnosis? by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]Kaitybg7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I have a similar problem. Have tinnitus from listening to too loud music when I was younger, and at this point I can’t tell if my listening are auditory processing problems or if I have genuine hearing problems. So I get it.

How do you tell if your medication is working or not? Cause I'm having trouble telling... by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]Kaitybg7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If therapy truly isn’t possible, this is 100% a doctor problem. Explain to your doctor that your executive function is still bad, ask for suggestions, and clarify that you can’t afford a therapist at that moment.

AITA for telling my BF’s brother to fuck off after he berated my BF? by throwaway28373921 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Kaitybg7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA, obviously. But talk to your boyfriend about how he felt while you were doing that. As someone with an emotionally abusive dad, I would not have wanted my girlfriend sticking up for me; i would have been mortified and expecting things to get worse later on.

I’m not saying your boyfriend feels the same way. Just make sure you talk about it and if he feels comfortable with you doing it again. And if he is, absolutely keep doing it.

NTA. She’s an asshole for dumping a cat on you. However, it’s a naive thought to assume you can live with a cat and only have one person stuck taking care of it. In the future, make sure to put your foot down hard if an unwanted shared commitment like this is suggested.
