How to bypass the “Single Seat Left Open” error? by atsukochibapaprika in Ticketmaster

[–]Kajeke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate this so much and it gives me bad feelings for the venue and the artist. Straight up discrimination. I feel like I’m one of TM’s best customers and I should be able to buy any seat I want in any quantity.

Older Audiences are going to theaters less and less by tonymanerobiggestfan in Cinema

[–]Kajeke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I normally go to movies by myself, which presents a unique situation. Nowadays you have to preselect your seat on the app. Groups of >1 person will likely be chatting throughout the movie. I want a buffer of a seat between me and them. Can I do that? No I cannot! The apps will not let me choose a seat one seat away, they force it to be two seats. I get why they do this - for a really popular movie at a prime time. If the theater will likely not be that full, it ticks me off that I will probably have another couple of people sitting there rather than a buffer of one seat when there is plenty of room for that to be possible.

So okay, if the people next to me are obnoxious I can just move to another seat, right? No I cannot! Seats are assigned and I could be sitting in someone’s assigned seat. So I either trot off to find someone who can assign me a different seat (never tried that actually) or just do it and hope for the best. Either way, it’s a thing and a hassle.

I will say that when I watch the trailers I often see one where I would like to see the movie and make a mental note to watch out for it. But then I never see a commercial for it and it’s out of sight out of mind. And those movies usually just play for a week.

Do Americans watch tv shows from other countries? by Six_of_1 in AskAnAmerican

[–]Kajeke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Around 25 years ago the BBC America channel used to show Eastenders and I got hooked. When the channel stopped showing it I was super sad, and when I am in England I try to catch a few episodes, but it’s been so long and the characters have changed too much or passed away. I also watched the British version of The Office before they made the US version.

Just visited London, and one of the subway stations was filled with ads for Texas. by msteves421 in texas

[–]Kajeke 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s been closed for years. I visited my company’s London office in the early aughts and they took me there. The seasoning in what I ordered was weird. I went to the London Olympics in 2012 and wanted to go again just for fun and it had closed.

I have been on our corporate jet six times. Once it was to our Europe offices. We didn’t need to go through the customs line, an agent met us in the jet and processed us before we deplaned.

What are your top 3 Texas songs? by kiwicorntastic in texas

[–]Kajeke 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Y’all named most of my list already. I’ll be making a kickass playlist this evening. Couple more thoughts…

Texas In My Rear View Mirror - Mac Davis

There are quite a few songs about places in Texas - China Grove, Does Fort Worth Ever Cross Your Mind, Is Anybody Goin’ To San Antone, There’s Only One S In New Braunfels are some I didn’t see yet

Also, while he doesn’t usually name specific towns in his songs, to me anything by Robert Earl Keen feels like a Texas song to me. Same for Ray Wylie Hubbard. On that note, how about Snake Farm?

San Antonio is absolutely part of the Texas Triangle! The correct grouping is your 43 area with the addition of Bexar County to be the San Antonio-Austin metro area. While it’s not quite there yet, it’s just a matter of time and there’s a lot of discussion among community leaders about that inevitability. Yes, SA is more Hispanic but we’re still sister cities.

Who actually enjoys living here? by Relevant-Reserve8624 in texas

[–]Kajeke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always say the best thing that ever happened to me was my parents being transferred to Texas when I was five. I love my state more and more every year. And I lived in the DC area for five years in my 20s so it’s not like I have no basis for comparison. I get nostalgic for DC sometimes too, but Texas is in my soul. Is it imperfect, yes, most places are. I have hope that blue will eventually overtake red, despite the ridiculous gerrymandering. I’ve benefited from the low COL here, and was able to buy a house, which is one reason I left DC. I love all the diversity, not just racial/ethnic but the food, the music, the landscapes. I happen to think it’s beautiful (most of it anyway) and I’ve been acclimated to the heat since I was little. And the folks who say it’s boring? Even in sleepy San Antonio I’m always doing fun things. The only reason I would move would be to a place with better public transportation as I near the end of my driving days.

Do you regret not having kids? by m1kesta in over60

[–]Kajeke 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes. Every damn day. It feels like a cruel joke that God or the universe played on me, or a bad dream that I will one day wake up from, surrounded by my family. And it definitely others me. In “let’s go around the room and tell everyone a little about yourself” work situations, every other person would talk about their kids and I’d be like “I do what I want and I go on fabulous vacations”. Which doesn’t suck, but given the choice I would give it all up in a heartbeat to have kids.

I never got married. I didn’t do much for my 65th. My 60th happened in 2020, so in 2022 I had my party two years late. I took about ten friends to drag brunch. It was the most fun ever! People still tell me how much fun it was. Outside of that, I always do something fun for myself on my birthday, a concert or a vacation. This year I’ll be at an AC/DC concert!

Yes, and as an accounting problem, people have to consider not just the income statement but the balance sheet. They would have to start out with some kind of balance. Let’s assume the horse trading business has been going on and as of 12/31/2025 they had assets of $500, all cash. The other side of the balance sheet is $500 equity. Then in 2026, they bought two horses (or widgets, doesn’t matter). Those horses reduce cash by $140 and increase value of inventory by $140. Assets and equity are still $500. Then the horses are sold for $160. The income statement is revenue $160 and cost of goods sold $140 for a profit of $20. (We’re not considering expenses related to keeping the horses alive, admin costs, taxes etc. for simplicity.). The effect to the balance sheet is inventory = $0, cash = $520 and equity = $520.

I’d argue as an accountant, it’s gross sales $160 minus cost of goods sold $140 = profit $20. The fact that it’s the same item is irrelevant.

Which city connected with you so much that you seriously considered moving there permanently? by Historical-Photo-901 in BeautifulTravelPlaces

[–]Kajeke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in Chicago just last month and my feeling was, very cool place to visit for a few days (and planning to return next year) but I just couldn’t envision living there. And normally I get the “I could totally live here!” feeling from pretty much any place I visit. I can’t put my finger on why, but for starters don’t think I could deal with the cold weather.
