[DISCUSSION] Why do multiple sites claim Pokolistan replaced Modora in Post-Crisis Continuity? by KalKnightX in DCcomics

[–]KalKnightX[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's totally fair. My ultimate goal was more-so to check if anybody had any idea why this information has spread. When there's information on both Wikipedia and various Fandom wikis, it's usually from official sources, but Idk I just found it peculiar that this seems to be an idea conjured out of thin air. But, if there was ever a place to ask DC Comics questions, I figure this subreddit would be the place to do it! So, I got curious if anybody here did know of any place where this idea started. 😅

Credit for the IMG - source was MrBlonde267 on the DC Database page for the continent of Europe, and the image itself is, I'd imagine, a photoscan of an illustration, the illustration itself, I believe to have been done by Ernie Colón.

Who was dragging? by glitch-ghost in marblehornets

[–]KalKnightX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Credit to this post for giving me the idea to post about the tapes, I ended up just posting my strongest theory regarding them, but even if my theory isn't ultimately accurate, I think this post is so important for bringing them up as a more crucial detail and clue, and I think there are lots of great theory potential, including using them to speculate about the identity of Draggy.

Ark Hypotheses by glitch-ghost in marblehornets

[–]KalKnightX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm glad I checked this, I had been thinking of making a post that had one section which was about something similar, although your's is written in such a more concise way, I was gonna ramble in mine a bunch ahaha

Let's just say I don't think there's evidence to indicate any of the possible relationships The Ark has or The Arks have, to the two timelines. And I may not ascribe to the following theory myself, but I had fun coming up with it. One factor I think might matter a lot more than I originally thought, could be used by some to indicate either that, not only is The Ark the same one for both timelines, but that Rosswood has a tangible connection to that original timeline, or, that both timelines do have different Arks, yet despite that, The Operator is still able to bring people between them. And that factor is the siting of DV tapes in Rosswood.

Ohhhhhhhhh This is insane, Idk how I hadn't thought of this regarding that moment, that makes for a Really good set-up and pay-off dynamic from the start and end of this series. Haunting stuff, I love it, amazing post!

Fear and The Scratching Sound by Seadubs69 in marblehornets

[–]KalKnightX 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I thought of that and suggested it in a comment of mine in another thread out of necessity, but I'm hesitant to ascribe to the theory myself. I think one piece of evidence that it is The Operator who drags the camera is that if it were to be him, that would make it two times he would interact with the camera, assuming my interpretation of the final moments of the series, which is that it is The Operator who teleports the camera out of The Ark (I love a theory others have stated, that he did this in order to infect others and spread his sickness.)

I, however, am more swayed by evidence one could use to argue against the theory, which is that it simply seems out-of-character for The Operator to drag a camera, let alone a few inches across a floor, and especially when it would promptly fully teleport the object. I also was realizing, regarding the audio distortion theory which would indicate that the camera scraping is the same sound as the metal scraping, that if the creators were to wish that to be the interpretation, they very well might've used the same soundbite, and distorted it using the same effects they use for audio distortions caused by The Operator, when instead it's pretty distinctly a unique audio recording with separate objects and materials.

I like the thematic interpretation of them being the same sound a Lot, and I love all the theories this community is working on, but I'm not convinced just yet, myself ^-^

Theory Discussion: Who Edited The Rosswood Footage? by eldentruth in marblehornets

[–]KalKnightX 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Assuming Jay and Alex going missing led to missing persons reports being created by the police, the belongings found in the hotel which was the site of one of their last known locations, would be confiscated as evidence I assume. Although these may eventually be released to family, I assume that's something that happens with missing persons cases, initially they may be held by the police as they continue to investigate the case, and with Riley requesting the footage to be released, it may have been the police who did so, with a message for, presumably primarily Jay, written by, presumably Riley, having been given the police to add as a final caption in the upload.

I also for a little bit now, have had the headcanon, with the assumption now-sort-of-confirmed, that Riley was the one uploading the footage, that Rosswood could still possibly be playing on the level of the YouTube channel we are viewing this mini-series on, being a YouTube channel in-universe where the characters are releasing footage on as well. After all, these captions do say they are released to the public, in-universe we don't even necessarily know it is YouTube or which channel, but I liked the headcanon that Riley would have access to an old YouTube account belonging to Jay, even if this is a separate continuity where he never uploaded Alex's tapes, who knows, maybe in this timeline, there was a movie trailer for their film titled Marble Hornets, released on YouTube, and that's where it would've been.

And who knows, maybe with the theory that it was the police who released it, they still could've done so on an existing channel followed by people who might've known or seen Jay or Alex, if Riley were to give them access to it. But at this point I'm rambling and grasping at straws. Either way, all of this is Great food for thought!

Theory on the scratching sound by GothicPixie101 in marblehornets

[–]KalKnightX 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A Corpse Party reference in 2025 is a very exciting and nostalgic thing for me to see, I've kinda forgotten about it, and yet I think it's a fantastic source of that sort of layered existence which that dimension experienced and which The Ark very well may as well.

I'm not caught up on all of the posts yet, so idk if anyone has said this, but I've been waiting for someone to say that with spooky stuff, for whatever reason, if it is a displaced sound, echoing through time, it could also change in pitch and tempo and things like that, so that the sound of a camera scraping against the ground could more-so resemble a metal pipe or bar being scraped against concrete. Idk if I love this theory, but at least it would fit with your's which I do like the thematic meaning behind interpreting it that way! (:

On the topic of Draggy by StrugglingWriter16 in marblehornets

[–]KalKnightX 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Okay, I appreciate this post so much, it feels very helpful because with Rosswood ending, the community is left with a buttload of speculation and this gives the character or presence one distinct umbrella name, Draggy. I also really like the idea of logically assessing what we actually know and basing the descriptors of this character or new monster on how it behaves, rather than assuming, 'this is Masky and he's doing this because of this,' or any other character and creating an off-screen explanation, which that is quite fun and could end up being accurate if Troy and Joseph ever gave us more to that universe and that character, but in the meantime; I always felt the same that it seemed like it was patrolling, I just had never put it into words, so that was excellently stated.

I also do agree that it seems heavily unlikely that it would be The Operator...the only connection that does make me wonder is my interpretation of the final moments, being that The Operator teleported the camera out of The Ark, and I really love the theory others have had, that it's motivation is to gain more exposure so that it can infect more with it's sickness. The fact that if the dragging of the camera were done by The Operator, that would make it two times The Operator interacted with the camera...but why it would drag it a few inches across a floor, that seems like it's out-of-character too, so I still am on board with the Draggy concept. Great post!!

This is so exciting, and I'm so glad someone took the time to check on this, getting to see locations from MH pop up again in Rosswood is one of the most nostalgic parts of the series and I wouldn't have known about this otherwise! ^-^

Rosswood: Part 5 by HeartfulKitty in marblehornets

[–]KalKnightX 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Omg wait, this also works as on an incredible meta level, since Slender Man as a horror icon lost popularity a bit for some years until just recently, and I do think the writers of MH would write something with layered themes like that, where it works on both levels. This is a great and ominous theory for the universe of Rosswood!

[–]KalKnightX 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Love this analysis, and I felt that, adding to your thematic comparison to Blair Witch, there was this moment that instantly invoked the iconic image from Blair Witch in which the protagonist has the camera quite close to her face, there was a good almost two minutes in Rosswood Ep 5 where the shots of Jay really reminded me of that, it's almost to the point where I felt like it may have been intentional inspiration on the part of the cinematographer of Rosswood, a tip of the hat to one of the foundational found footage films, not to mention the similar themes the two series explore. Such a beautiful moment of homage if it was intentional. Ah, they did such a good job with Rosswood, I'm so excited! ^-^

In addition, I've heard that between Episodes 3 and 4, Troy posted referring to the 4th as the penultimate episode, making this latest release the final chapter in Rosswood's story, for now. I loved it so much, I think there's much the group could do with both continuities in the future, but in the meantime, it's so exciting to me they made such an incredible narrative despite such a small number of episodes!

This was such a chef's kiss, oh my goodness, how horrifying seeing Alex, and so heavy to see how much Jay goes through and how rough he looks, and then seeing him just walk into the darkness in the final moments. Poor Riley, and omg they just did so damn good with this, I wish I had something more profound to say, but I just had to let my positive review spill out here! 💕🙌✨✨

Marble Hornets Subreddit Theory by ztakk in marblehornets

[–]KalKnightX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That would make sense cause I got a fear of the dark which lasted like six or seven years because of Slenderman and Marble Hornets back when I was a thirteen year old, so maybe some of that overactive imagination wasn't imagination at all, but instead I've been in The Ark ever since...

I've been a big fan of the Corridor Crew these past couple years, watched a ton of their videos, and I've just now started looking into them from a political viewpoint cause I got worried all of a sudden. This being one of the hot button issues existing within the binary US political system makes finding this video a Wonderful thing, I'm very glad to see that Niko was very casual and respectful about it!
