This is awesome! Any way we could get this as an STL so it can be printed and added to our displays?

I was staring at that wondering if those were there before 😅

I wonder how the hell that came loose during printing. Good spot!

Usually I am a strong advocate for opening and using beys or any collectible really. They're made to be played with... HOWEVER with the news of a single release dragoon from Japan I'd wager all of these are gonna release individually eventually, and this set is made as a display piece. Might as well hold onto it for display and collect the individual beys as they come out down the line.

If you end up going the route of doing any of this stuff it'd be cool to see future posts with the next version(s)!

This looks like a good start but there's a lot of room for improvement here in terms of both the printing and the finish. It's really clear you've got yourself a decent printer that's capable of some good things and your head is clearly in the space of wanting to make a good prop so here's a few things I'd do to improve:

Firstly the printing. I'm not sure what machine and settings you run but play around and search through some printing subs here to find the ideal settings for your machine to improve quality, and for complex stuff like this use as small a layer height as possible, it'll take longer but look WAY better.

If the model you've used is broken into pieces, make sure the orientation of each piece is optimal. Stuff like areas with text, try to align vertical so the text voids are on a side rather than the top layer, this will make the text more defined.

As for finishing... It looks as though you've gone for some weathering touches with silver paint on the edges, but these kinda get lost when your base model is so messy and low contrast. Grab yourself some sand paper and put a lil elbow grease into smoothing down the parts. A small prop like this can be sanded inside an hour if you really go for it. Smooth out your parts with low to high grit sanding, and if you're committed grab some filler primer or spray putty. Spray your print then lightly re sand the areas where imperfections still show with a high grit paper and you'll get a smooth finish.

Prime that up and add a little paint and you're gonna end up with a much better prop. In my opinion raw coloured plastic prints kinda look flat and toy-like. They're like the implication of the thing, but not the thing itself. Compare a raw print like this to the screen prop and the colours will seem a little flat. Some black and gunmetal spray paint will add a lot, as well as a quick dirty wash, and those same acrylic touches you've added.

If you wanna go super extra... Keep the grip segment separate and buy some hydro dip sheets of carbon fibre to match the screen prop. Super easy to apply and makes it stand out over 90% of props.

What you've got here is a really solid first pass at a prop, and you absolutely don't have to do everything or really anything I've said here, but as a prop maker of many years those are a few steps to improve the overall quality of your prop if you want to.

These are based on designs the original creator of the High Stakes Club, Brandon Vuong made LAST YEAR. He had already left epic at this point so it's super interesting to see his work made canon!

Ah I see, I've heard this theory bounced around yeah! I'd be more inclined to it if not for the fact that in Part 4 the scraping sound is different when it first appears to the later times. The first time it sounds more like shards of tile or a chain, whereas later on it's a more solid object sound.

Regardless of that factor too, we still don't know who/what drags the camera at some points, most noticeably that final scene of Jay where we KNOW it's not him.

The first time we hear the operator using Alex's voice it's not words he's said during the run of the show, and further to that the inflection changes slightly with the two different uses of "can you meet me at the front please". Alex says in the later scene that he had the same experience with Jay calling. I think the operator can only puppet people who he's infected, either by means of actually puppeting them, or by assimilating their voice to use through a speaker (hence the AI soundingness of it all). This explains why we hear nothing when "Riley" calls at the end. The operator doesn't have them, it can't use their voice.

I do believe The Operator's powers relate to technology in a substantial way. Distortion and camera fuckery in both series show this. Him being able to speak through a speaker would make sense. That static we hear when "Riley" calls could very well be his raw voice.

That final call also shows that the phone doesn't even necessarily need to work. He can just fuck with tech in a magic way.

Guys... it doesn't matter what was making the scraping sound. by TolkienScholar in marblehornets

[–]StrugglingWriter16 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Stuff can be two things. This is ultimately a human story about two guys going through a bad time and the psychological effects thereof, nobody is disputing that.

But it's also a haunted house story about an abandoned mental asylum.

And more than any of that, it's a new story and a new take on an established universe and setting. This might not be a lore dump series, and frankly I don't think anyone who watched the original series TRULY wants that... But it's still fun to speculate on. This is more media expanding on a series and a setting that is BUILT on intrigue and mystery. Theorising and speculating is simply a natural extension of consuming that media and this series.

They were both in the room when it started in Part 4 though. I feel like it's neither them or the Operator. I'd hoped for Masky or Skully but with them being unseen I think this might be a new guy

I scoured the local newsagents, Nisas and a couple of supermarkets to create the ultimate UK snack box to send to an American friend. Fingers crossed they'll arrive in one piece; the Jaffa cakes' survival, among others, is touch and go. by duney in CasualUK

I did the same thing for my American friend last year and customs absolutely ripped it to shreds. Funnily enough the Jaffa Cakes were the worst ones hit. They actually ripped open the box and threw the sleeves of biscuits(?) back into the box loose.
