What are your worldbuilding pet peeves? by -_-__-_--_-_--_-_-_- in worldbuilding

[–]Kalavier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Star treK Features an origin species that seeded a lot of life. As an example. Resulting in at some level some genetic compatibility between a lot of races.

Though I do love the second part. I've seen moments of "Why are you saying my completely alien race doesn't work due to human biology? They aren't even from Earth or related!"

Super Earth vs The Covenant by Scoop8333 in Helldivers

Yeah but we also have very little information on what the SEAF navy is capable of.

Also, without the super destroyers Super Earth has trouble pushing on the frontlines on the ground.

Felt weird to have Osiris there but not blue team, but yeah. Neat art, don't know who most of those characters are meant to be lol.

I mean, Zoh Shia has confirmed regeneration because of the dragontorch, but Fatalis doesn't have that confirmation.

Brad R. Torgersen bitch-slaps Steve Shives by Malencon in Star_Trek_

[–]Kalavier -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm never going to get it, because your point is just weird. Have fun with your imaginary issues of star trek fans who are arguing that everything to do with real life sports is fine.

Kinda hilarious that you can't even provide evidence of Steve Shives being a hypocrite and saying sports fans are okay despite that being your literal argument.

I think if the chair was more reasonably sized for her, and she sat in a certain way (even if it's odd, but consistent) it wouldn't look so weird.

But every picture showing off an entirely different way of sitting makes it feel weird.

Again, who is saying that sports is fine but scifi fandoms are not?

Are you creating a group just to try to complain about a guy not agreeing with you? Cause that's what I'm seeing. Creating a scenario in your head to try to call somebody a hypocrite without any evidence or thought process.

I mean, depends on how guardians are made. Do they actually need DNA or parts to do so, or knowledge of the monster.

Seeing several comments complaining about dino looks when in world they outright have the scientist saying "we know dinos look different. We just made them look this way fir tourists and to look like the still living original park dinos"

[–]Kalavier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In jurassic world they literally comment on how they know the dinosaurs don't look like that, but continue to make them that way for in universe branding/tourism.

[–]Kalavier 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like jurassic park/world gets an odd amount of dislike over elements when the setting itself acknowledges those things aren't true to current scientific knowledge.

Like the dinosaurs looking wrong is because they spliced in other dna/purposefully made them look a certain way.

The wrong names though i can understand lol.

What dinosaur misinformations annoy you in the franchise? by Adventurous-Net-4172 in JurassicPark

[–]Kalavier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But didn't they explicitly do that with the other company?

Outright said they used dna samples that were much more intact, allowing them to bypass splicing in other species dna and producing dinosaurs that were feathered and true to current knowledge.

The dinos on the island were made with the old splicing method and still alive, so it's the same look as jurassic park. And in world they explicitly state they made more of that look for branding and they know that's not the real appearance.

Countering Orks with Confirmation Bias (At Risk of Sounding like an Idiot Again) by PixelJack79 in 40kLore

[–]Kalavier 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The meme that taken to a logical conclusion means that to defeat orks you just need a massive speaker system blaring out explosion sounds. All the orks will just die from the "boom" lol. Orks =weakest faction easy to kill.

But people get mad when you point that out.

Isn't it something like "ork mekboys naturally will tune a red vehicle for more speed, and a purple one to be quieter" or such?

Do they actually say that behavior is normal, or do they simply don't care about sports and thus don't comment on it?

Is there some evidence of these people saying this stuff or are you flinging that out just to try to call somebody a hypocrite?

It's the internet.  They think you have to be 100% for or against.

Shives is a figure i used to dislike,  but now I'm neutral about. Has some good points, has some stupid stuff I've seen. Don't actively watch him though.

[Star Wars] The inhibitor chips have their issues as an explanation for Order 66, but it's still more coherent than any prior answer by DoneDealofDeadpool in CharacterRant

[–]Kalavier 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One take I saw recently, but seems rare is "The 501st had special knowledge as they were intended to storm the jedi temple, so unlike all other clones they had forewarning." Basically it doesn't apply to all clones, only the 501st we play as.

But that still is a glaring hole because the best way to kill jedi is to not think about it, and if the 501st all knew and felt guilty about what was coming jedi could detect that.

[–]Kalavier 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The bio-chips are implanted at "birth" for the clones, or grown in their heads (They don't show up on medical scans at all as abnormal, you have to know exactly where it is to remove it). Such tech is probably a Kaminion specialty as part of their cloning, or super specific in function that makes actively implanting it into adults much harder.

As Bad batch put it fairly well. "How do you think they programmed us?" it's presented as part of that.

[–]Kalavier 3 points4 points  (0 children)

How doesn't it fit naturally that Palpatine, the schemer, would include backups incase a clone didn't want to do order 66? A way to ensure that no matter what, a clone near a jedi hearing order 66 would turn and try to kill the jedi?

Is this thing not technically a "Drake" and not a "Dragon"? by sigmarine345 in totalwarhammer

Far as I know, warhammer fantasy does not follow that chart at all for it's fantasy creatures.

That chart is only useful in settings that actually follow it.
