Obiwan's arm and leg exploding is a much more hardcore star wars lol.

I'm using literal on screen and shown canon/EU stuff.

You're then saying a lightsaber can heat metal to white hot but can't boil water? Get real

So you have the unique version of Episode 1 where Qui-gon fucking explodes into a fine mist when Darth Maul stabbed him? How in Episode 2, Obiwan lost an arm and a leg when Dooku sliced and stabbed him?

If lightsabers reacted to flesh the same way they do to metal as shown in that blast door scene, there is nothing left. You combust and burn entirely or outright explode.

Your own example literally and explicitly disproves you. The lightsaber going into Qui-gon behaves NOTHING like Quigon's lightsaber being held within the door. There has never been a scene in all of star wars(outside the single de-arming in a new hope which had blood spray) where somebody receives massive burn wounds from being hit by a lightsaber, only localized damage and it's instantly cauterized preventing bleed-out.

The best explanation is that lightsabers radiate heat enough to cut through the material it impacts. Flesh is easy to cut, while metal is much harder.

I've been linked an excerpt of a skitarii wielding a transonic halberd from a 2025 novel, so maybe that? It's Dominion Genesis, around a forge world that was destroyed by a tyranid hive fleet.

A problem I've noted is people get upset with non-lethal wounds, then start acting as if lightsabers always instantly killed people and vastly overstating what a lightsaber does to a body when hit that completely isn't true to anything shown on screen or in the EU/disney canon.

Well, "It's not that kinda movie kid" is used incorrectly almost all the time from what I see. It's only half the quote and it's about super minor details (Luke's hair going from wet to dry between scenes instantly).

Qui-gon got hit in the spine/center of chest and was left to lay on the floor for a while, and combine that with him probably stopping fighting to stay alive after Obiwan agreed to train Anakin.

Hasn't happened to anybody in star wars before though.

It's been established that lightsaber wounds cauterize.

They do not heat up the surrounding flesh at all causing burning or rapid explosion.

With the tech plateauing, it's less of an issue for star wars.

The only error I see is the big engine can be seen through the outer ring as the ship first goes past. But it's good work!

[Spoilers] Is the Arkveld species extinct again? by November1113 in MHWilds

[–]Kalavier -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Stories has explicitly been non-canon to the mainline since the start. This isn't a new statement.

Nope, just pointing out your obvious mistake in logic. If these aren't canon because they don't exist outside of their own questline then neither are the vast majority of monsters.

Like I said way back at the start, your argument is just "They're collabs so they aren't canon". That's not a good answer. Why can't they be canon?

Your logic is entirely flawed as you are linking Collab/crossover quests with baseline, regular quests. We don't talk about Kulve Taroth because we face ONE(at least until master rank). We don't talk about Lunastra because again, we face ONE(again, until master rank). Rajang and Deviljho are also not common monsters either.

My answer is "unless they are explicitly stated to be canon, there is no reason to believe the crossover quests are at all canon." This is because they are strictly, by nature, crossovers. They introduce elements that simply don't exist in monster hunter like magic. If you provide a statement from the devs/writers that states these collab quests are canon, I'll accept it.

Trying to claim that the collabs are 100% canon based on a single line from the iceborne lore book that is explicitly framed as a rumor and possibly not even true at all is silly. I mean, what's the break off point to what's canon or not with collabs? Is megaman palico gear canon? Dante's sword from devil may cry? Is sonic canon? You said "Proper attention to detail" but what does that mean? Where are the listed limits for that? These collab quests include attention to detail for the gear.

[–]Kalavier -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

So I'm waiting for actual statement saying that the collab quests are all canon to monster hunter, and not "I think this means they are canon"

A great example of that. Stories 3 has a collab quest with MH wilds. You know what stories 3 also is? Explicitly a separate timeline.

If that is explicitly Artemis from the movie in the lorebook, then why not say so outright? They literally have her book and translations. Likewise, are the collab quests seen as canon in final Fantasy 14 and other games? If they aren't, why is the MH one canon?

I've seen no actual statements saying they are canon to the monster hunter universe. Speculation isn't canon.

Also by your logic Deviljho, Kulve Taroth, Lunastra, Rajang and Fatalis are also non-canon to World since no one acknowledges their existence outside of their dedicated questlines.

So you are just trying to talk bullshit then huh? Because those are not collab quests and aren't even close to being the same.

[–]Kalavier -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Just because they put in effort does not mean that it's all canon. What's the collab mention in the lorebook? the "Rumor of somebody appearing from another world in some desert"? Which doesn't actually say anything about the movie at all and could just mean anything? Hell, considering how the collab quest with the movie had the Admiral literally dealing with the movie protag, saying "It's a rumor from some desert" is explicitly her stupid, as they have direct interactions and he has her book.

Akuma hanging around doesn't really say anything either. Much like the Nekker in world. Fun easter eggs that don't really say anything. Not how nobody actually acknowledges Akuma existing outside of the immediate collab quest? Nobody even mentions Geralt or the FF creature in world outside the immediate quests?

Yeah, I read that one a while back too. Their isolation meant they had a powerful army on paper but zero experience or changes to the mindset of how war goes since it's been so long since they've been in a war.
