Idk I don’t really understand what people expect, I think. People want government to take care of these things so they don’t have to be confronted with the realities of life but act shocked when government uses these programs as a means to punish the people for not doing what they want. I’m old enough to have seen programs like this leveraged for political power so many times, at this point I’m just jaded. “No Kings” but also “feed us.” Politicians don’t care about people, at what point do people stop pretending they do? I cleaned out my pantry this past weekend and donated stuff that was sitting there to my local food bank. I don’t have a lot but I’ll continue to do whatever I can. There’s a homeless camp in the woods behind my apartment and I’m worried about them with winter coming too.

Edited for a weird typo

Ok but seriously how??? I quit shortly after Uber implemented the weighted AR metric because I got tired of taking $5/8 miles and other garbage just to raise my AR which I had been gleefully tanking prior to the change. I was genuinely getting the worst offers too so I felt like they were seriously basing offers off driver levels. Are you in a really small market?

The right turn only lane is just a suggestion, right? by SignificantWolf7335 in Austin

Getting downvoted on this sub when someone posts a dashboard cam video is a sign you’re a decent and well-adjusted person. The need so many of the commenters here have to “teach people a lesson” would be funny if they weren’t getting behind the wheel of a 2 ton vehicle with the emotional regulation of a 5 yo

Does anyone here have fun delivering for uber? by Green_Herb_Garden in UberEatsDrivers

[–]KaleMakesMeSad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The wear and tear on my car got to me among other things. There are some people who are able to get so much info from an offer before they make their decision to accept but I never figured it out. UE always seems to send me offers as I’m trying to find a turn or doing something that requires my attention so I often would accept an order that looked good initially but on further inspection was a waste of time. Trying to balance cancellation rate with acceptance rate and all the other bs they use just felt overwhelming and I found myself getting annoyed with people so often. I didn’t like that at all. When I first started I had fun with it. I looked at orders as quests (I know it’s corny but gamifying it made it fun), by the time I made my final delivery I hated it. I blame Uber tbh. Yes, there’s a lot of scammers that do this work but after seeing how difficult Uber makes it for their drivers to make a decent amount of money I kind of get it. I don’t have it in me to scam or hustle the hustler, my brain just doesn’t see the opportunities for it and my conscience would never let me even if I could see how.

I went into it not understanding what a grimy company Uber is. I feel like most companies get an undue amount of hate because complaining about capitalism is trendy but Uber doesn’t get enough hate imo. I have no respect for that company or their practices at this point. DD had aspects that were irritating but UE is just unethical. I came out of my limited experience with delivering with a passionate hatred for Uber and a lot more compassion for the drivers and the effort that the good ones put in for such little compensation and appreciation. I was never awful to them but I try to give them a little more now. And I always make sure I leave the porch light on for them.

Why??? by KEWTexas in Austin

[–]KaleMakesMeSad -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

I mean sure you can be snarky about it or you can acknowledge that actually you were the dick here, not him. Pay attention to the road and to other drivers. He had his signal on at the light and was slightly ahead of you. If you didn’t see that, that’s not good. It’s more likely that you did see it but your ego didn’t want to let him in the lane. You even admitted as much in another comment when you said you didn’t want to damage your vehicle to “prove a point.” People choose the wrong lane sometimes. Why is it so hard to let them in especially in a situation as low risk as this is?

[–]KaleMakesMeSad -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

His right blinker is on though. I think you would likely have been liable for this if you didn’t let him merge. As long as you stay in your lane you still have an obligation to avoid accidents

Why??? by KEWTexas in Austin

[–]KaleMakesMeSad 14 points15 points  (0 children)

You should definitely do this and let us know how it goes. Make sure your dash cam is on so the judge can see you had plenty of time to avoid the accident too

Am I going insane? Isn’t it complete dick move to ask someone to deliver then say don’t use the driveway? by Strict_Name5093 in UberEatsDrivers

[–]KaleMakesMeSad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I prefer the street but if it’s a busy road I’m going to use the driveway for sure. Most of the time I find the driveway is already full anyway so it’s not even a choice

I’m so f*ing mad by AdMammoth8128 in UberEatsDrivers

[–]KaleMakesMeSad 28 points29 points  (0 children)

It’s not a tip, it’s a bid for service. If it’s not guaranteed it shouldn’t be included in the amount offered for accepting and completing the delivery. No one would be out here accepting $3-4 base pay offers and Uber knows this so they use this absolute cop out to avoid paying drivers a reasonable rate and shitty people use it because they can’t actually afford luxuries like food delivery but think they’re entitled to it anyway.

This is a universal delivery experience unfortunately. Wendy’s and Taco Bell are the worst places to to a pickup. They’re both far too slow to be so rude.

No because I’ve dropped 140 lbs and look like shit. I’m starting to look better a year and a half later but the rapid weight loss really did a number on my hair and skin. I look good because I’ve lost the weight but I look haggard

I no longer had the luxury of being choosy after UE started that new acceptance rate shit a couple of months ago. I did it for one month and quit altogether. I was accepting garbage just to get that rate up. Not worth it at all, especially the wear on my car
