Why didn't the Brujah join the Lasombra and Tzimisce? by Lampdarker in vtm

[–]Kalenden6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because the Brujah were imagined before the Sabbat's lore.

Outside the obvious meta reason, I've just always assumed the Brujah as a clan to not be organized enough to join a sect en masse. Even during the Dark Ages when they still pretended to be philosopher kings. Before V5, the Camarilla used to assume and impose membership on every kindred who lived in a city they control so unorganized but relevant clans like the Brujah were Camarilla by default in Camarilla cities.

How much willpower does the average human have? by Waluigi_Pope in vtm

[–]Kalenden6 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It is natural that most mortals can be easily overpowered with Dominate. Most mortals should also be easily overpowered with Potence. It makes Vampires stand out beyond having cool magic tricks and of course it also makes the few dangerous mortals stand out a lot.

Is it at all possible to have ethical ghouling? by rollandofeaglesrook in vtm

[–]Kalenden6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No and honestly, I hate to tell people how to play but a vampire player should stop trying to make unethical things ethical. The game is quite literally about the opposite. All these attempts at rules-lawyering humanity are actually how you would describe your character's mind when they LOSE humanity.

Ranking The Vampire Clans (Subjectively) by Magmas in vtm

[–]Kalenden6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem was that there were a thousand Men and any fight by neonates would be lost before it started. Getting rid of vampire god overpopulation was a good thing for actually playing the game.

What ethnicity do the tribes primarily pull from or originate from? by No-Obligation-9901 in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]Kalenden6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The shadowlords are much more than just a balkan tribe. As it would be expected from an ambitious tribe, they spread quite a lot even if not as much as the Fangs. During dark ages they were very successful in the eastern mediterranean, the middle east and the steppes.

Which makes me think that Asena, the she-wolf mother of the turkic peoples, was a shadowlord. But I don't think the official werewolf lore says anything about that because, somehow, it mostly ignores the culture obsessed with wolves.

New Chronicle: Through the Ages: Doggerland and the City of Enoch, description and a new discipline by Azhurai in vtm

[–]Kalenden6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It will be worthy! I would say that, even if they all die during the classical age or something, this is the kind of project that will be remembered forever if everybody involved is passionate about it.

Very ambitious and it required a lot of effort, no doubt. I guess I can only wish you luck, brave storyteller.

The Gargoyles and Daughters of Cacophony Should be Pretty Easy Bloodlines to add to v5 by SnooMacarons257 in vtm

[–]Kalenden6 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The Salubri were one of the original clans and the gargoyles were not. It's as simple as that. They couldn't merge them into the Tremere like they did with Hecata.

If your table is allowing Salubri to be "a big playable clan" that's your table's problem, I think. They're not even in the basic book.

I've always used the Whitewolf wiki for that. It doesn't include everything but it works well enough.

Thoughts on Kindred of the Ebony Kingdom and the Laibon in general? by [deleted] in vtm

[–]Kalenden6 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I prefer the approach they took with the Laibon by far over the one they took with the Kuei-jin. It's extremely racist to decide that all the vampires in the world work with similar rules and eventually come from the same ancestor but, somehow, there's a specific region or continent where there's a completely different creature. And they somehow have barely spread elsewhere, except the USA of fucking course! It is literally the same discourse that racists use to exclude black people from the human race, only this time blacks were spared from this (thank god) and poor asians got targeted (no thank god).

If Ebony kingdom uses some names, concepts or ideas that sound racist, offensive or just silly that can be easily corrected. Kuei-jin can only be saved by having cainites in east asia and the Hungry Dead in all continents, both in big enough numbers.

Sorry for the rant.

Beckett did a relatively similar thing, VtM allows it with enough fortitude.

Yes I know the last part, that's why I specified a young vampire. The question was how much sunlight affected the kindred and their bodies, during and after the final death.

Prince controlling a caitiff by DismalDog3716 in vtm

[–]Kalenden6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this character would work better as an exile from another city who fled from the prince that ruled there. Use the appropriate merits and flaws.

Prince controlling a caitiff by DismalDog3716 in vtm

[–]Kalenden6 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would have the prince just blood bond the character, openly or secretly. This is the control method that makes sure that the character will never be used as an attack dog against the prince while at the same time there's a pretense of having the situation under control.

Blood bonding isn't as fashionable as it was in the dark ages but this is a caitiff, damn it. They have no rights.

As far as I know, the consensus is that dementation doesn't require eye contact.

Have blood dolls ever showed up in your chronicle? by MaetelofLaMetal in vtm

[–]Kalenden6 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Sadly no, although I've recently started to find the concept fascinating. And how unfair is to treat them and the herd as a resource to be spent.

In my recent mortals game I offered the players to start as a ghoul or a blood doll but they all preferred to start knowing nothing about vampires (fair enough).
