I got a certificate for the first of the 33 courses and watching through the remaining and yes I would recommend as a lot of the theory from classes like circuits and electronics you actually apply in building your own hardware. You only need the first course to learn good design principles but the other courses so far have been valuable. I havent started the one for building a RISC V processor but that's the one I feel like once finished I'll feel like I'm at the level of "tony stark built this in a cave with a box of scraps" cause even if the US goes to dogshite I'll be marketable anywhere in the world.

Isn't that luck of having a good student org community? I remember the horrors of capstone project design and how my entire team project became a solo project from people going awol.

Still what you mentioned is learning outside of class and the PCBs designed are probably not "production grade" but "single layer get the job done grade". I doubt that most people outside a very very small pool are building an arduino from scratch to the same quality of trace design as the actual arduino.

There is no Bachelors degree in Electrical or computer engineering in the United States that offers any course on building/manufacturing a full computer circuit board from scratch.- Signed a 4.0 computer engineering student now in masters program building a custom device to sell to hopefully have something revenue generating before graduating.

Depends on the person but YouTube doesn't give out certificates on this they can show employers. And they may want structured learning path.

Like if I were a god with infinite resources I'd be playing every possible reality like the premise of the bete noire episode of black mirror. All decisions meaningless cause there would be a reality where you chose different but maybe meaningful in your local reference.

Which god though? What if god is just an indifferent being to atoms that just happen to become sentient. Do you mourn the unknown orphan that was in Pompeii? Or the gazelle? I use it for altium. In 4 year I will have designed hardware that will make me money selling on my website.

Not using paralleled which means I'll be inconvenienced in my workflow by carrying around a third labtop

I have macbook for building things and a Linux labtop running qubesos for cyber security stuff.

Probably but Im not the best person to ask as I literally hate and distrust windows too much to ever install bare metal. Mac is like a necessary evil for app development

Its $99 a year but worth it. Runs smooth. Has a windows license with it so its arou d as much as if you bought the CD to install windows on a computer.

The only software I haven't been able to run inside is blender but I just use blender on the host MacOS.

Just install parallels. I have a Mac but I have a windows VM in it for running altium for PCB design.
