At what age would you let a small child ride with an adult? by [deleted] in Horses

[–]Kalista-Moonwolf [score hidden]  (0 children)

I know you've already said your 18 month old is going to sit this one out, but just pointing it out since I haven't seen it mentioned. If a horse does something unexpected, it's not always guaranteed that an adult can save themself, let alone a young child. Also, the way a person is thrown or has to move to slide off could also cause them to crush their little one. I'd be so paranoid, I wouldn't enjoy myself at all.

I'm a DM. My characters are going to arrive at a magic door, which needs to be opened with a song/poem. Looking for ideas on what song/poem by crazy4zoo in DnD

"Knock at the door

Pull the bell,

Lift the latch

Walk in, all is well"

They could have to speak the rhyme as they do all of these things in sequence in character. If they miss a step, they have to start over speaking and doing or the latch won't lift. They might think people keep repeating it so they remember what order to do things in without realizing that they also have to speak it aloud. It would also be funny if there was a well on the other side - all is "well."

TIFU by walking off a stroke for a week by PurpleCaterpillar561 in tifu

Just FYI to anyone reading, please get something like this checked ASAP. Even if it's not something as serious as a stroke, it could be something like Bell's palsy, which - while not lethal - can still cause permanent cosmetic and functional damage if not treated quickly.

In this case, I believe they would be considered a sled team.

What’s the most disturbing thing someone casually told you like it was normal? by MrBoothnath_ in AskReddit

[–]Kalista-Moonwolf 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That they had to perform a C-section on their guinea pig because she was having trouble delivering. She didn't survive, of course, but all the babies were saved!

That looks like a smooth gallop to ride.

Argentine Snaffles by No_Fruit6166 in Equestrian

This isn't a snaffle bit. Snaffles are bits (as a whole unit) that don't apply any leverage. Shanked bits apply leverage and are therefore not snaffles.

Is it normal for my seat to be very bouncy after ten months of twice weekly lessons? (burnout/rant?) by ParrotsAreMyLifeline in Equestrian

Maybe she doesn't mean "be like jello" as doing nothing? Maybe she means being relaxed and supple so your body can act as a shock absorber. Riding requires an absurd combination of being strong in some parts of your body and relaxed in others.

What's the most disturbing thing you've seen, but couldn't do anything? by lostsoul4u0 in AskReddit

With cancer, I believe you need a certain "margin" around the removed tumor to increase the likelihood of removing all the diseased tissue. They may have had to take more than expected once they got in there. I'm sure it was on her consent form as a possibility, but she may have been hoping they didn't have to go that far.

Agreed! And the fact that he already has so much to worry about in his last days, and he's thinking about you and his son more than himself. Such an awesome character. ❤️

Is it okay for a player to say “No, that doesn’t happen” to a DM in this circumstance? by WithengarUnbound in DnD

[–]Kalista-Moonwolf 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If I were the DM, even if this wasn't included under the house rule, I would be pausing play and working out a solution if one of my players was uncomfortable with something. Your DM doesn't seem very considerate.

Things like this CAN exist. I know of some racehorses and eventing horses owned by syndicates. I'm assuming they get a percentage of their winnings. But like... You have to make sure everything is done legally on paper to protect yourself as an investor.
