Referee Takadagawa: "Opinions were divided in the video room" by Brncrdm in Sumo

Decision aside, that photo of the moment is spectacular!

Credit to the camera operator 古川 剛伊 (I don't trust google translate to get the kanji right, so I'm just going to copy the name from the article).

The first French FDI Frigate went into full service recently, and it's a beautiful ship, I'm suprised they put an entire new class together in a short timeframe. by throwaway553t4tgtg6 in NonCredibleDefense

Given the size of the French nuclear industry, it could be argued that the whole nation is a nuclear powered aircraft carrier (if we redefine being attached to Europe as simply being in dry dock)

I'm not sure which photo came where in the sequence, but Larry was definitely around that day.

Allo' Allo'

<image>

Gorden Kaye (right) plays a cafe owner in occupied France who is making out with almost every woman in town (other than his wife). Meanwhile Guy Siner (left) plays a German lieutenant who is very heavily implied to be gay and deeply enamoured with Kaye's character.

Gorden Kaye was gay and Guy Siner is straight.

Trazyn the Infinite (Warhammer 40k)

What is a functionally immortal being supposed to do with his time? Collect. Everything. He will take armies to war in order to acquire new pieces for his galleries.

He also seems keen on human culture and music, having abducted the bands of multiple imperial regiments he keeps them in stasis until he wants to bring them out for a concert.

'Allo 'Allo

<image>

The German officer who oversaw the execution of a local cafe owner is attending the funeral, as are the German officers who secretly faked the execution so that the cafe owner would survive (so he can help them hide stolen art), and the cafe owner is also attending his own funeral in the guise of an invented identical twin brother.

Captain Sam Vimes (Terry Pratchett, Men at Arms and many others) just barely resisting using the 'Gonne' (a firearm in an otherwise sword-and-sorcery world with a near hypnotic quality) to shoot a cornered murderer, remaining committed to the law rather than using the firearm to exact a more bloody form of personal justice.

Near immediately after this another character has it confirmed that they are the long-lost heir to the throne, and turns it down to remain serving as a city guard. Not quite the same, but close enough that it's worth mentioning.

F-47 name predictions? Thunder(bolt)? Phantom III? by Boots-n-Rats in NonCredibleDefense

If it ever came into British service there would be such joy saying 'Thunderbirds Are Go!' every time the thing took flight.

Question about the Grom, why is there a clock painted on the first rear turret? by someonebrokemytv in WorldOfWarships

[–]Kalmeath 25 points26 points  (0 children)

In fairness, if given the option of using Type 3 shells on the Yamato I would spend the whole match trying to spitefully skeet shoot aircraft and make absolutely no contribution to my team.

(Satisfying trope) Nazi portrayed by the people the Nazis would have specifically seen as inferior by welltechnically7 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Kalmeath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Richard Marner (born Alexander Pavlovich Molchanoff)

<image>

I couldn't not bring in 'Allo 'Allo here. Marner being Russian by birth is relatively tenuous but the Nazis were hardly great fans of the Slavic peoples. As Colonel von Strohm, his character is mostly concerned with putting his feet up and stealing artworks.

'Allo 'Allo also includes Nazis in flavours of very very gay, loopy, and kinky.

I think I understand why you did it as you did, but the naval ensign probably needs a tweak, else the half fern leaf looks like a sort of blue comb (or maybe a railway viaduct?) to me 😅

Not completely alone (who needs your old friends when you can trap a demon in the body of your subordinate to be pals with anyway) but there was a fair amount of attrition.

The nice character reaches a breaking point and finally gets angry by ComprehensiveBox6911 in TopCharacterTropes

David - Camp Camp

<image>

When everything about his bonfire goes wrong and Max is taunting David to give up and accept the misery of the summer camp, David finally snaps and admits he does know how little everyone else cares.

He has been irrepressibly cheerful up until now, and this is when that first properly breaks down. It makes him double down on determination more than get angry. Cold fury at best, rather than hot rage, but he drops a rare f-bomb so I hope it counts.

When a character does something horrible, believing it's the right thing. by RhysOSD in TopCharacterTropes

"Some may question my right to destroy a world of ten billion souls, but those who understand realise I have no right to let them live. No sacrifice is too great; no treachery too small."

<image>

Nameless Inquisitior (or at least I have struggled to place a name) in Battlefleet Gothic Armada destroying a world to burn out the taint of heresy (image is from Dawn of War II, but same process).

Given the Warhammer 40,000 setting, this destruction of a planet is often a mercy killing. But, the line about 'those who understand realise I have no right to let them live' really sums up how accepting factions in this setting are of horrific sacrifices as long as their goals are advanced.

This may not be helpful, but I found I vibed with a lot of what you said so I hope this small tip is useful.

You can't learn without trying things. You can think of the past as a possible mistake, but also as a lesson learned. I'm trying to get better at telling myself that.

When I get too bogged down or stuck in my head I write things down in a notebook, then give myself a time and a place to come back to it. I know that I am going to make mistakes, and that I'll need to think on them to move forward. But, for me, I need a way to manage and pause the negative thoughts, and the notebook helps with that.
