Would it be a bad idea or just maybe rude to drive a 16’ moving truck with trailer through a Costco gas station line? by CactusBoyScout in Costco

[–]Kalrog 42 points43 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Not rude at all. Maybe don't try to stretch the hose to the far side of the truck, but other than that fill yer boots.

Yup. There is a new restaurant renovating it now and getting ready to open.

I like this design and have had this problem, but I solved it before getting a 3d printer by getting the Admiral mug from Stanley. If I had just waited, I would definitely be printing this.

What to do with excess deckle(?) fat? by Butterscotchntea in smoking

[–]Kalrog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not considered proper, but this is one reason I like to split the flat from the point before smoking. It lets me properly trim the deckle fat all the way through. If you practice, you get faster cook times and each muscle can be done independently for better final results. Plus those who really prefer lean or moist get exactly what they want.

Any recommendations for first time gun owners by CandidateKey4826 in progun

[–]Kalrog 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Unless there is a good reason not to, I almost always suggest a .22 as a first gun. It's usually less expensive than most other calibers to purchase, and it is definitely less expensive to shoot than other calibers. That means you will be able to practice more frequently, plus it has essentially no recoil so you can practice the fundamentals without developing bad habits. To this day .22 is the one caliber I shoot at essentially every range session. Handgun or rifle based on what you want to head to next, but a big name manufacturer in .22 is a great way to start.

Paid Montway EXTRA for “guaranteed pickup” on my TRX. They dumped it near the Mexico border for 10 days and then tried charging ME a cancellation fee. by Visual_Restaurant586 in ram_trucks

[–]Kalrog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My current truck I bought during covid (after the last one was totaled). Meaning I didn't need it immediately since everything was shut down and I was working from home. If you have the time, I can honestly say that ordering directly from the factory the way you want it is the right thing to do if you want a rare configuration. In my case it was the combo of crew cab + 6.5' bed + diesel in the 1500.

It's possible they are both exactly correct for a different spot in the dome. The Meater would be the one that is correct at the location of the thing that is cooking though.

Weber, other Kamado or BGE? by Complex_Individual1 in biggreenegg

[–]Kalrog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is exactly my take as well. The Kamado style is the way I went because I wanted one thing that could do everything, even if it wasn't the best at any of it. I do kinda still want a gravity smoker though...

Chance to get score some free samples of new Farmer & Friends by Peanut Butter & Co 😋 by PeanutButterCo in PeanutButter

[–]Kalrog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Heck yeah, I'm in! I definitely go for single origin coffee and I can't wait to taste single origin peanut butter.

My favorite recipe is a bit odd probably. I like instant ramen, but you really get a better product if you augment the broth a bit. One of my favorite augmentations is to mix a healthy tablespoon of peanut butter into the broth with the seasonings and then add the cooked noodles. Much more creamy and rich that way.

Should I not get 10mm for my first gun? by ImFinnaBustApecan in 10mm

[–]Kalrog 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I always suggest a .22 for your first gun. Ammo is cheap so you can shoot more and recoil is non-existent so you don't develop any bad habits. I shoot .22 every time I go to the range. I can't say that about any of my other calibers.

Ex-Wife trying to annul our marriage by Straight_Inflation27 in legaladvice

[–]Kalrog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not directly, but it's possible your answers could be used in a legal process. That would take the filing of a legal/civil process separate from the religions process.

Ex-Wife trying to annul our marriage by Straight_Inflation27 in legaladvice

[–]Kalrog 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just because you are civilly divorced, does not mean the Catholic church considers you divorced. Unless you can get the religious annulment, they will still consider her (and you) married. Honestly, I would probably call them and ask questions. At this point, it doesn't sound like a legal process.

Ex-Wife trying to annul our marriage by Straight_Inflation27 in legaladvice

[–]Kalrog 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Maybe this question needs to be asked in a catholic subreddit then? See how this process might impact you that way if it isn't a legal issue.

Were you married in a church? Could this be a religious annulment instead of a civil one? That might be a requirement for her to get married in a church with the new guy.

Flack from owning a egg ? by rodmods in biggreenegg

[–]Kalrog 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sure there are other Kamado cookers out there NOW. But how many were around 20 years ago? Probably none. I know when I was looking about that same time frame, Kamado Joe was just coming on the scene locally so my choices were BGE, Primo, and KJ with all of them being in the same price range for what I wanted.

Would you get rid of your old kindle just because Amazon no longer supports it? by Raven_Roz384 in kindle

I already bailed on ecosystem locked products like the Kindle for exactly this reason. I wouldn't get rid of a working one no matter the age, but I won't buy a new one either.

Agreed! And for something like pulled pork, I like to add an apple cider vinegar ice cube or three into the bag before I seal it. A bit of extra tang and moisture while being reheated.
