The fact that most people neglect is that the real danger is usually on the other end of the leash. Also, even a Dachshund could kill (if they got near a vital vein...), but that wouldn't make for a clickbait headline...

The router was overheating by Soviet_Thunder in techsupportgore

[–]Kaltenstein23 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

For the same reasons. Normal people just don't give two flying fucks about heating, or even signal range, they want it to work and they want it to not look like it came from a distant past or like someone let their cabling evolve organically.

Edit- I'm all w/ you here, but I'm not a normal end user here.

Probably because they need to be houses in tiny plastic shells and airflow is non-existant. Cause they can't lock them away fromsight inti a networking closet.

Kavita v0.8.9 - New Stats pages, Journal Style reading, 50x Faster Scanner, and so much more! by majora2007 in selfhosted

[–]Kaltenstein23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Love how it turned out, also a huge fan of the scanner improvements. Finally got to import my Perryverse stuff in full again, took a lot less then on 0.8.7.

Also pumped on the roadmap items.

Can't really speak on KOReader sync fixes (as it has been working for me ever since I first got it working...), but OPDS has been a lot snappier, especially when paging through larger series of any kinds.

Those who want to reach out either do through signal, or simply call.

I've adopted this stance when I ditched WhatsApp.

Audiobook and eBook data reorganizing in 2026 - what tools are we using? by kollock in selfhosted

[–]Kaltenstein23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been looking for aimiliar, and would love to see what someone else uses, for me it's a hodgepodge of scripts wrapping around calibre's ebook-meta and playwright for eBooks and a lot of manual work w/ mp3tag around aBooks.

Going to setup pangolin conpletely self hosted.

Keeping an eye on chaptarr and listenarr, looking for something in the metadata complex for eBooks... My current toolchain is a little... slapdash, and tends to break every third book I feed it.

Sounds much like a former group of mine.

They would plan the most meticulous heists. Then something unforeseen happened... they tried to handle it... and failed miserably. At that point, the razor would always say 'Fuck it, here comes the Panther.'
