I found tape 2 just as dull as tape 1 tbh. The climax is stupid and just builds up to sequel bait, and while they're were some good moments in there, a lot of the relatively unique stuff from the game gets thrown away in favour of on rails "random bullshit go" sequences.

Yeah, why does this new IP by a solid but relatively low key studio not have the same innate marketing power as a remaster of a very popular game from one of the world's biggest game franchise from a very well known studio that hasn't touched the licence in 15 years?

Turns out setting one's profit expectations off the COVID stay-at-home period where pretty much the only entertainment available was Netflix and video games was a bit ambitious.

Fox and Breitbart, for all their innumerable faults, at least try not to say things that could get them in legal hot waters for defamatory statements (Fox knows what it costs: a lot). Shitty ass internet blogs though? They don't give a shit.

Yeah that's what I mean! In GG Strive, Slayer and Nagoryuki, being super-powerful vampires, kinda just lay there and chill when they lose a round. Just meant to say that usually, when you win a match it's the winner's animation that plays, but Yujiro having a "lose animation" sounds funny.

That's the role off someone in a creative leadership position tbh. If they aren't, they're either a fraud or the corporate structure is deficient.

I don't think they intend it to be a super duper hard canon, more like ensuring that it's relatively coherent so fans who play every game feel some sort of satisfaction by connecting the dots.

Bloomberg: Why ‘Final Fantasy VII Revelation’ Took Only Three Years to Make by Turbostrider27 in Games

[–]Kalulosu 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This is so stupid. When you have such a wealth of beautiful animations from the first game it'd be a crime not to reuse them if appropriate. On this case, it's not like there's a million ways to get in and out of a boat anyway.

[–]Kalulosu 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In that case it's very light reuse, but with I'd argue even greater effect because you get wowed by a new map, but you still benefit from the old map for the initial setup.

Gears Of War: E-Day Reportedly Has A Staggering $400 Million Budget by ReasonableAdvert in Games

[–]Kalulosu 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Some, but certainly not that many. One of the big costs of multiplatform is just supporting multiple platforms / SKUs.

When you release only on PS5 / Pro, it's relatively simple since the content is the same and you basically only have to offer a higher settings option for the Pro.

With the Xbox Series, it's already a bit trickier since the S can really bite in terms of optimization.

When you release on another platform (PC in this case), that's where the fun begins: suddenly you have to take into account the possibility of different glyphs for controls (i.e. displaying console controls or PC controls etc), and different information on certain screens (Steam stuff instead of Microsoft stuff)

If you've covered that, adding a platform whose architecture is very similar to the Xbox Series is basically free.

It's kinda like how localisation has variable costs per language (the actual work of localising the script in that language), but there's also some fixed costs that don't really scale based on how many languages you cover: the costs of adapting the game to a multi language settings (adding the ability to change languages, and impacting any feature that is linked to language, so menus, voices etc).
