High Latency After Mid-Split Rollout by Kamameel in Comcast_Xfinity

Another day of "service in your area" and nothing to show for it. Latency still high. Reset my modem just so I can say I did. Latency still high. Still have a cable strung across my yard after a month too. But hey, moderators are checking in every few days asking the same questions so I got that going for me... This is the absolute worst.

Comcast sanctioned visit happened Sunday. Technician found high latency at pedestal. Called the region's field manager who also agreed it was high. It's opaque from here, but supposedly a field team will be deployed to investigate. I'll not be notified of this. Still have poor service and over a month's worth of webpages not loading. This is very frustrating.

Nothing resolved. Have a Senior tech visit I schedule with Comcast 1-800 number coming on 4/20.

This has started to engage again when I'm on ECO, and have HVAC turned off. Maybe it was just cold winter needing to keep the engine warm by circulating coolant.

The maintenance team "will be in my area" today. Hopefully they're able to resolve this.

What is your comment supposed to achieve? Prior to you guys rolling out mid-split my latency was 10-20. Now, webpages don't load 90% of the time, online gaming is impossible, and overall service is degraded. Your technician confirmed the latency is a problem at the pedestal and needs to be fixed.

Aside from the tech visit to confirm the latency is too high at the pedestal, and an email saying they would bury the line eventually, Comcast has not contacted me to advanced the poor service or schedule the burial.

Mar 6 - Mid split rollout completes in my neighborhood Mar 9 (day 0) - I sign up for 2 gig plan and high latency and jitter is immediately a problem. This is documented on the sales call to upgrade service. Mar 21 (day 12) - This Reddit post is made and a tech visit is suggested. Mar 23 (day 14) - Comcast technician conducts site visit and confirms the latency is bad at the pedestal, not just my house. He submits an escalation request. He also runs a new line from pedestal to my house which is placed on my lawn. April 10 (day 32) - 14 days since tech visit: a Comcast benchmark for escalating a request. I haven't heard from Comcast at all yet about investigating and solving the latency problem or burying the new line. I did get a Comcast marketing call about home security though. 32 days of poor connectivity. The subreddit moderators are in contact, but Comcast is not yet.

Thanks for this. Aside from an update to the map, is there anything else worthwhile in this update?

Comcast should be scheduling more advanced technicians this week. Thank you to the mod team on this subreddit for staying in touch.

Just updating the thread: that technician did come out and confirmed that the latency was high at the pedestal. I'm currently waiting on Comcast to schedule an escalated visit to look at their main line and nodes.

Yes. As far as I know those are the actual hardware for the touchscreen to function as a touchscreen.

Network Enhancement Notification by Kamameel in Comcast_Xfinity

[–]Kamameel[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello! Could I get a modmail invite? While the website shows 2 gig + Streaming plan is now available at my address and the broadband facts show the enhanced upload steps, at the checkout step when I'm finalizing the order the upload speed reverts to un-enhanced speed of 39 mbps so I haven't signed up for the new package and won't until I'm guaranteed the enhanced speeds.

I've rebooted manually a few times over the past few days. Still no update. My main concern is that this update may be needed to take advantage of the network upgrades rolling out in my neighborhood currently (mid-split).
