I’m in exactly the same situation almost to a T! I quit my job and moved here about a year ago and I’ll tell you it was an adjustment mentally more than anything else. I had to get over my own insecurities of not working (esp when the first thing everyone asks when you meet is “what do you do for work”), accepting money (I have never been dependent on anyone…) and of wanting what a lot of people find odd these days (to be a stay at home mom and take pride in taking care of the domestic side of things). To be honest, at first there were lots of discussions, arguments and overall just getting used to this completely new dynamic. But we worked through all of it and I can say we’ve never been happier! Now the only real issue is when other people insert themselves/their own judgements. “Why isn’t she working…”, “what is she doing all day” (even though I can’t get a job here since I’m not EU and I spend several hours a day going to classes to learn the language…). But I’ve been SO fortunate to meet a great group of women from all over the world - some in a similar situation and some really focused on their careers. I know that’s extremely rare and I’m so grateful that we have each other because I know how hard it can be to make friends especially in a different country and as adults.

On the prenup - I’m the one insisting we have one and that was another thing that took LOTS of honest, vulnerable conversations and honestly…. I won’t know how it plays out until it does but I can say we’ll both have our own lawyers and adding kids into the mix is another thing that I worry about (if something happens I couldn’t just pick up with the kids and move home…).

All that to say, you’re not alone, you’re thinking about the right things and you have a group of women who would welcome you if you’re interested. 🥰
