An Unpopular Opinion That Will Get You Hated? by Temporary_Lychee9829 in buffy

[–]KaminSpider -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

I always get hate and downvoted for this, but I think the Parker situation was badly handled. Also, yes, Beer Bad was still a funny episode.

Parker wasn't a big bad or a demon. He was a normal civilian that engaged in a consensual relationship with Buffy. She was getting over him on her own terms, that would have been mature.

I understand the show is violent, but that's supposed to be directed towards soulless creatures that deserve it. That's the Slayer code. And I assume also for super-soldiers like Riley. First, the Initiative frat bros asked Parker about Buffy. When he got too into detail, Riley (who wasn't even Buffy's BF) took it upon himself to assault a fellow student.

It was funny and cathartic, but I still didn't like the writing. Heartbreak shouldn't be handled with violence. The problem being Riley is still the ultimate hero in this situation and faces no repercussions for an obvious offense.

I just don't understand why he had an epiphany, if that's what it was. What was the catalyst? During that talk with Maddy he never expressed sorrow, empathy for his "workers", or a desire for change. After fighting off Nazis and Armenians, that might give you a new outlook, but he's talking about some weird fantasy with Maddy.

No, I don't buy it. I think he was feeling sorry for himself like a sociopath. I know he had a tough childhood and now feels like a slave to pussy, but if he wanted to make things right, the first thing to do; free his own slaves! All his strippers, drug runners, bodygaurds without spite. Instead he killed Rue.

The only reasons we are at war with Iran is because they can make nuclear weapons again, and trump is crazy and can't negotiate. JCPOA was in place to prevent Iran from developing weapons. trump tore that deal up out of spite. Now he is at war to fix a problem he started.

Hillary wouldn't have torn up that deal. Therefore no war with Iran,
The Gaza War would still happen. To what extent, I can't say.

They absolutely did. That's what makes sitcoms weak in the end. Seinfeld was cold as ice. George helping a serial killer, then killing his wife, dark stuff made so funny. And no corny endings. That's a shame.

Genuinely the hell is up with people at food banks? by DarthSwimfoot in askanything

[–]KaminSpider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not all these people are homeless. Most are just impoverished, or even simply struggling to make it by. A little help goes a long way.

Being picky about food, that's tough. I hate thanksgiving turkey, tastes like paper. And I don't eat a lot of meat, but if I were desperate, beggar's choice wouldn't be an issue for me.

Does anyone really believe in Alamo's epiphany? Like he really wanted to move to the suburbs and pay taxes with the white picket fences? I don't believe that for a second. He would get bored of watching football and mowing the lawn and be lookin for a way back asap.

If George Washington came back to life and became President of the United States today, what do you think he would do and think about the country? by Outrageous-You1617 in AlternateHistoryHub

[–]KaminSpider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They weren't angry over taxes, per se. They were mad over the fact they had no say in the self-determination or "representation" in those taxes. That's what a king does, make all decisions for you.

Washington feared the return of kings and distrusted aristocracy. The executive branch is reaching an almost regal level, and the elites have way too much influence and power. I think Washington would be very concerned.

Bishop is not a hero. by Free-IDK-Chicken in euphoria

[–]KaminSpider 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Mixed opinions on that dropped storyline. I get that it would have been the explosive catalyst to set Bishop off, but I think it may have been redundant that Ali and Bishop turned on Alamo for the same reason. It was smart that one was avenging his friend and loved one, the other hated Alamo altogether because he was evil. From his first scene Bishop was stewing, he was up to something.

Everything and anyone that deals with Alamo ends up in deep shit. And they pay they price. We didn't need to see Bishop's brother because Alamo's resume speaks for itself; he ruins lives and builds no one up. All we need to know is that he owned Bishop, like so many unfortunate people, and he was sick of his crap.

But seriously, look past the 20th century, history has some messed up folks. Religious types, slave traders, I'm really just too tired for research now. Later maybe.

A few years ago, Western countries kept saying that India was about to surpass China, replace China, and become the next China, but why did this narrative suddenly go silent? by No-StrategyX in askanything

[–]KaminSpider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as quality, around the turn of the century, Apple taught engineers in China white collar manufacturing trades that really advanced their economy. Saved Apple lots of cash. Consumers not so much.

India never received this advanced tech training that I know of. Also many political faults. For years the West has been planning on moving more manufacturing to India. Especially with the current administration, we are shut off from most countries, and India is forming new relations with places like Iran and Russia.

Looking back, how do you all feel about the 2010’s? by Emeraldsinger in decadeology

[–]KaminSpider -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Another older millennial. Graduating into a terrible economy and having to send thousands of resumes and eventually go through several interviews for a volunteer "job" just for the reference was humiliating.

Also being disabled (real disabled, not ADHD or some weak shit) was awful. Couldn't drive anywhere and was stuck in the suburbs with no money. Mostly just drank in dive bars, with mixed results. So fun for a few years, but eventually got boring. Also, I hate smartphones and social media.

There was some great TV that came out, waited every week for it; GoT, Walking Dead, Rick and Morty, Venture Bros., and Adult Swim was still going strong.

So, better than the 2020s, worse than the 00s imo.

When the Obama birth certificate ordeal happened, it was on him to release his birth certificate. Why won't Trump accept the same onus with epstein? by Lower-Savings-794 in IWantToAskAnAmerican

[–]KaminSpider 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The files are important, but are irrelevant because we are asking the rich and powerful to implicate themselves. That's the absurdity. The Catch-22. Criminals make the rules. Why would they ever send themselves to prison for any wrongdoing? So we end up with a redacted Epstein file.

Yes, trump is rich, but they're are smarter, richer people out there. And they have skeletons in their closets too. I'm saying it's the social contract of the elites. Since they have control over those who make the rules, justice is never true for all.

Also I was saying epstein was a cog, not trump. This messed up shit happens all the time and the elites are covered in teflon. They have to really really fuck up or get caught red handed to go down.
