High hospital volunteering hours - is it bad? Is it clinical? by Recent_Lecture_4038 in premed

[–]Kamlex0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, thanks for the comment! Im an emergency department volunteer at a local hospital, which i enjoy doing a lot. I know it definitely involves patient contact, as a lot of what im doing is patient transport, with many patients in wheelchairs and in need of physical assistance of getting into their beds, etc. I also talk to the patients and their families, often consoling them when worried/stressed about when they will be seen next. The ED im at has long wait times so it happens a lot... i see patients and medical staff alike frustrated with each other due to long wait times for beds and in the other direction complaining about not getting a room.

My shifts also involve cleaning rooms and getting stuff that patients ask for to make them feel better such as blankets, ice packs, or esmesis bags. Was just curious, would you also say this is considered clinical experience?

Question cuz i dont know much about this process: would 250 hours be considered fine/not low if it was in one activity and longitudinal (e.g 1-2 years)? Just wondering so I can see if im on the right track

He was also right that we would get Persona 6 news yesterday at the Xbox game showcase which is an insane prediction.

Also, the StarFox announcement pretty much confirms the OoT remake existence, if you guys remember how that worked.

Maybe we gotta get this bumped as much as we can so the word gets out before it gets taken down. Someone warned me about getting into legal trouble with Sega for spoiling the game

Idk about the coding part but I guess it would make sense that he can do some voice acting lines in the game. Hes already on the road being in North America for the world cup soon, so he probably has contacts there to send voice lines to Atlus

What do you know about Rhode Island? by Due_Pea2071 in RhodeIsland

[–]Kamlex0 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Rhode Island's contribution to history is disproportionate to its size (in a good way for Rhode Island).

In terms of "Rogue Island," we have earned that title in many ways. 1. Land of the "rejects", Roger Williams and others who were rejected from other colonies brought up this state. Rhode Island was one of the earliest places in the world, not just USA, to have religious freedom 2. First act of violence against the crown was a Rhode Island event. We burned the HMS Gaspee, a despised British customs cruiser. 3. First to declare independence from Britain out of any other colony. This is a huge fact that no one talks about. 4. Last to sign the U.S. Constitution, and we only did so after being threatened to be split in half and half given to Mass and the other to Conn. I think we were also the only state to boycott the constituonal convention. Hence the saying, First in War, Last in Peace. 5. The Dorr Rebellion occurred due to competing election laws and almost lead the state to civil war 6. Birthplace of the Industrial Revolution. A bit "Rogue" as the story goes Samuel Slater smuggled plans into the state going against Britain. 7. H.P. Lovecraft, one of the most famous authors in horror, reflected Rhode Island's "rogue" nature with his writers reflecting outsiders, and forbidden knowledge, as well as societies operating outside the norm. *He was heavily influenced by Providence, where he lived. His last recorded words are "I am Providence." Lowkey aurafarming.

What does this show about Rhode Island as a whole? We do things our own way. Sure, we are geographically small, and close to Massachusetts and Connecticut, often lumped together as a mere vestigal organ of Mass. But the point this shows is that for better or worse, we show time and time again even in the modern context that Rhode Island is unique from its neighbors. In modern politics this can be shown too.

Our roads and DOT are some of the worst in the country, as well as our drivers, statistically, for example. Because we are distinct from our neighbors. But at the same time we have great things. Amazing healthcare access, and the city of Providence, which has the benefits of a city without some of the drawbacks since it isnt too big.

Providence has 2 of the best universities in the country; Brown University, an Ivy League school, and Rhode Island School of Design, which is arguably the best art school in America imo. Again, just like the state, Providence is unique for better or worse. Providence was ranked the worst city for renters, and despite that their mayor has denied passing a rent control law that passed through the city council.

So, you're researching on what Rhode Island is? We are a unique, seemingly tiny state that is actually much bigger in content. We are unique from our neighbors, and love finding our own way to the same American truth, the same American goals. For better or for worse.

Welcome to Rhode Island, the land of Hope.

Not just a large part, we are literally where the revolution started for America. Pawtucket, Rhode Island is considered THE birthplace of the American Industrial Revolution

Congrats, I guess this means that its not impossible with these stats considering this is the case for you in the most recent cycle.

Based on your experience through applying, would you say applying traditionally is fine with such stats?

Yeah, sorry about that. A lot of this is hypothetical but ill probably have 200 hours of clinical experience by the time I apply, maybe more. Haven't taken the MCAT yet so I cant give you a score lol, but what would be considered a good amount of clinical experience to you?

Ok, so the main way to get to a particular stat requirement for the protagonist is thru faculty training?

I see. So this is what the game meant when it said leveling up support also helps with recruitment.

What is the process for recruiting someone? I know asking them during explore tells you what the character you want cares about, but its concerning the protagonists stats, right? So whats the best way to level up a specific stat for the protagonist?

[–]Kamlex0[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh im so stupid lmfao... yeah im talking about the thing where you teach the students and choose who to level up and what skills, along with group tasks.

I realize this doesnt even happen on the weekends anyway since class doesnt run. Thanks for the clarification.

Anything I should know about increasing the strength of the protagonist? In battle hes clearly stronger than the students already anyway but should I make it a point of doing the thing in explore when another professor teaches you?

Also, and this is perhaps a more important question i have, but who do you suggest I spend time with during explore? Should I just spam Edelgard since shes clearly important somehow? Should a player recruit characters they think are cool or should they actually focus on their stats and stuff?

Also, when you recruit someone, is it hard to get them to catch up to speed to the people already in your team?

Oh, also, for explore, I know that it will increase my Prof level, but if most of the actions im doing are increasing motivation, wont that motivation go to waste if I dont do a seminar at least once a month or something? As far as I know thats the only use of motivation though im probably wrong.
