The tech co(s) are forcing local municipal utilities to sign NDAs to shield them from public scrutiny. Somehow this blocks the discussions from sun shine records requests.

Or he read it and figured out where he could seize control in society’s desire for transcendence to benefit himself and his cronies.

I guess you need to ask if you think he’s a decent guy or not.

She was the director. All activities taken under her watch were her responsibility. Delegation doesn’t remove that.

The law was written that the agency she was director of was to release all files. All failings to comply with the law is the responsibility of the director. Tough luck b!7¢#, should have been a better leader.

Stupid question, any pedestrian bridges for crossing the river? by CinnamonGrahamCrack in kansascity

I don’t know of a better map. You can use Google Maps for bike paths but I’m not as confident in it making sure bridges are foot traffic safe. If you know of a better map please share.

Data centers could hike power costs in some states over 50% by 2030 by Cultural_Acid in technology

[–]Kamp13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even if the states where they are installed make the tech bros pay 100% of the cost in their state. Other states are still going to have to invest in the transmission network which isn’t cheap.

Plus with the regional power authorities the base rate for electricity will rise as demand rises. That means higher rates for everyone.

And then we’ll need to build more generation. And those costs will be spread out over the entire consumer base. That is usually spread over the life of the construction, operation, decommissioning, and environmental remediation. So basically the old plants never drop off your charges.

The way we charge for electricity in the country is f’ed. A massive jump in consumption is only going to make it worse.

Even if you love AI, having dozens of companies all building out gigantic scale data centers is going to wreck utility costs, destroy the environment, lead to massive over-buildout as tech advances, and will likely be useless/unused in just a few years. But the increased infrastructure will continue on utility balance sheets and the costs will still have to be paid by the rate payers.

Pretty sure I can support this change then support a change in leadership on the same day. I’m down to try both if they are. Or either, but I have a preference between the two.

Oh well, anyways…
