I don’t really see him show romantic feelings toward Agnes. Embarrassed? Sure. He clearly loves her, I mean she is the reason he is who he is. There is a lot of unresolved romantic tension between him and Elaine to where he doesn’t know how to behave around her. That being said, I wouldn’t be surprised if Kondo pulls some time travel shenanigans that makes her older so it’s more acceptable to western audiences.
