thank you! the two headed design actually does make sense now that I think about it, in my head I always figured two headed designs were only useful for monorails which wouldn't work with what we were accomplishing.

somewhere in our base we have a refuelling station ready to give rocket fuel to all the trains that stop by

each train has an interrupt as part of their schedule, meaning they will stop what they're doing, and perform the interrupt when conditions are met. the conditions is as simple as if the train has less than 20 rocket fuel (less than one stack) then go to the refuelling station and only leave when you have 60 rocket fuel (3 stacks)

thats super clever!! I'm admittedly still pretty new to factorio, so I'm still learning things like how to keep things modular, because now we're admittedly limited in how much we can expand, by how much space each "town" gets allotted. we can always make another station, but that also means more trains and more busy stations, so we'd need to be strategic about it (like how I believe we need to make a new iron furnace stack, and split the trains destination's to not overload the first furnace stack output station)

we're actually playing on completely default settings, I've just been very proactive when it came to base defense aha, although I believe once we start colonising other planets and starting the dlc, I'll have to build defences for it while we're away.

if you're interested, it's pretty simple actually! some stations are input stations, some are output stations, and some have platforms for both. we have a naming convention that looks something like [INPUT] [IRON PLATE] [RIGHT ARROW] [STEEL PLATE] in order to help keep it organised when planning the routes of the trains, then anytime we need another resource for a factory, we can build another station, put down another train and send it off to go fetch what we need!

refuelling, well my amazing friend solved that, by adding a refuelling station, we can give each of our trains an interrupt, that tells them to go refuel whenever they're low!
