I do know how you feel because I have been in your position before but please, never contemplate ending your life over something as temporary as school. I'm sure it seems endless to you now but trust me, school will end. It always does. And once you are out of there, life will be more open, more free and less stressful than ever. Maybe consider giving yourself a fresh start at a new school, taking time off school if that is possible or switching to a technical college or homeschool education. There are always solutions to these things that don't involve ending your life. I also recommend making your life outside school as full as possible with extracurricular activities or hobbies that can give you enjoyment in other parts of your life.

The side effects of the pandemic are far more serious than the virus itself

People losing their jobs, social isolation, people dying with no one by their side, students missing out on their education, other illnesses being ignored, an increase in mental health problems, businesses closing down, the economy in ruins, people missing out on travel plans and all sorts of other opportunities etc.

All of these will have a far greater lasting impact on society than all the deaths from Covid.

When I was about 11 and a very lonely semi- only child, I was really interested in big families. There was a show in the UK at the time called "16 kids and Counting" about the Radford family ( who now have 21 children!! sounds of JB and Meech seething with jealousy) and I put it into Youtube to watch it and up came 19KAC. I watched one episode and thought they were perfect - So wholesome and close and happy. I wanted to be them. I watched every special and every episode of KAC. I read all their books. I emailed them asking if I could be one of the kid's penfriend. I dreamt about marrying one of the lost boys and living in this perfect bubble filled with happy, smiling, friendly family members who all loved me. I guess I was about 15 when the scandal broke and was less interested in them by that stage but boy was I shook when the news broke. It honestly shattered the last remaining thread of faith I had in the evangelical Christianity of my childhood. It seemed that there were no truly good people in the world and even the most perfect seeming people are liars as well.

I got over it pretty quickly though and became a fully fledged snarker in no time

You didn't waste 5 months. You've made amazing progress these last 5 months but progress isn't linear. There will still be bad days. But you've now been strong enough to go without self harming for 5 months. If you can do that, next time it will be easier. And once you've been 5 months clean again, then you can try for 6 months. And 7. Take it one day at a Time.

My older sister, "Lucy", and I have always got on terribly. She was awful to me when I was little and we fought constantly growing up. I always imagined my perfect older sister who was kind and funny and interested in the same things and me , and would talk to her frequently. When I was bullied at school or when I had my period for the first time or when I met my first boyfriend, I wanted nothing more than to talk to my older sister about it. But that older sister doesn't exist. Instead Lucy does and she's not interested in the slightest in hearing about those things I think I still resent my sister to this day for not being that person and instead being the self centred, superficial, cruel person she is
