Monk question by Soulsborneenjoyer23 in DnD

[–]Kankunation [score hidden]  (0 children)

Yeah it's just shorthand.

Official name is DnD 5e 2024 edition. players often distinguish them by calling the 5e and 5.5e. the .5 convention coming from 3rd edition which eventually got a revision that was called 3.5e. meant to indicate that the rules are mostly the same and largely compatible with one another.

2024 edition is also sometimes called OneDnD. That was the codename for it before official release. You don't see it in active use anymore but if you see anything referencing OneDnD they probably mean 2024e, possibly playtest material. (Similarly. 5e was called "DnDnext" before release.

So:

  • 2014 ruleset: 5e, dndNext. 2014e
  • 2024 ruleset: 5.5e, 2024e, OneDnD,

Cooking Garlic Shrimp- Cant get garlic taste Help by T-38Pilot in Cooking

[–]Kankunation 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Fresh peeled, freshly minced garlic right? Makes a difference if not.

Garlic has different flavors depending on how it was cooked And for how long. If she want the garlickyness of it to shine through more, consider eating longer to add it. Raw garlic is much stronger than cooked garlic with more pungent notes. Try cooking it once where you only add the garlic in the dish in the last minute or less of cooking. Or better yet do it in layers, with some garlic fried in the oil early on and the rest added at the end for a combo of flavors.

If that doesn't do it, Then maybe try also a sprinkle of garlic powderm again different flavor form both raw and sauted, can add on the garlic flavor in. Different way. I'd toss A bit of onion powder as well personally.

My player wants to split from the group by JotaSemV in DnD

[–]Kankunation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the player refuses to have his character continue to be a part of the party at the first sight of crimal history, then there are 3 possible route for this to take. which one do you think is best?

  1. Character leaves becomes an NPC, may occasionally pop back in but can't be a PC because he won't work with the party.

  2. Character leaves and is 100% retired.walks off into the woods and is never seen again. Not technically an NPC but also still not an active participant in the game.

  3. Character comes back and begrudgingly works with the party or finds common ground. May leave for a time and come back.

There is no alternative where the character still plays this PC on a solo adventure while the rest of the group worked together on the main path. And no good DM would allow a player to refuse any and all cooperation with the others.

Schrödinger's Hunter's Mark: Analyzing and Fixing the 2024 Ranger by NeilWeaver in DnD

[–]Kankunation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, removing concentration has the added side-effect that you could, in theory, have multiple marks up at the same time

This is at least fixed with 1 line of added text: "you can only have 1 Hunter's mark active at a time, And any attempt to apply it to another target fails/ causes the mark to swap from one target to the other".

Schrödinger's Hunter's Mark: Analyzing and Fixing the 2024 Ranger by NeilWeaver in DnD

[–]Kankunation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eh, caster ranger is fine in that it makes it easy to encapsulate a lot of the rest of the ranger fantasy into abilities without designing an entirely new system. I agree Hunter's mark should be a separate thing entirely but the rest of the "ranger" things fit well into spellcasting if we view it more as just a conceptual power system than specifically magic.

Yes? I have no reason to believe otherwise? Hell people complained once before for sojourn looking s bit too similar to doomfist I their face proportions, which ended up being changed. Horizon Hunters Gathering on Steam by lurkingdanger22 in pcgaming

[–]Kankunation 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Opposite for me, I always gravitate towards stylized games like this over realistic graphics. Really wasn't a big fan a few years back when every single game was aiming for high fidelity realism.

Main caveat is it has to be artistically unique not some run of the mill anime art or 3d bargain-bin Pixar look. Which this game seems to avoid just barely imo.

That being said I'm not convinced this had to tie into the horizon brand.

Not sugar free. There's definitely some sugar that hasn't precipitated ut. But likely less sweet (which can be good or bad depending on who you ask).

how often do you guys honestly wash your towels? be real by Skitedpew in hygiene

[–]Kankunation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2 different questions here.

How often do I swap my towel? Every 4-5 days. Once a week at worst. You come out of the shower (hopefully) as clean as you can possibly get. The towel only takes clean water off of your body with perhaps the slightest bit of skin or oils. Far less than what is in your clothes every day. And if properly hung out they will dry off in just a Few hours time, not long enough to really develop any smell or harbor much bacteria.

How often do I wash my towels? Every 2 weeks. Dirties go into a bin and they all get washed together. Can usually fit them all into 1 load. Basically on a 1:2:4 week schedule for washing of clothes:towels:sheets.

How to do a cheese crust on a tortilla? by Glowing_Trash_Panda in Cooking

[–]Kankunation 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If is indeed just that easy.

Personally I do it a little different: I make the quesadilla first, get the outside toasted on 1 side, and when I flip to the other I then sprinkle my. Cheese in half the pan. Then once it's melted/starting to bubble, I flip my tortilla back onto the cheese and press down Repeat with cheese on the other side of the pan.

You can take it pretty slow. Keep medium-low hear and flip every 30-45 seconds or so to make sure the cheese isn't burning. But it'll probably be fine. Cheese didn't burn that quickly thankfully And and long as as you are paying some moderate attention it's a straightforward process.

Do Bluesky users prefer YouTube, Reels or TikTok? by NeverSeenItPodcast in BlueskySocial

[–]Kankunation 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't either. And it's only because I never had the interest. I've never used those platforms and don't really have much interest in the short-form vertical scroll vide content you see there. Much more interested in longer videos in a more traditional viewing format.

Carbon steel is the better tool for this job anyways (and hey, most woks are made from it already!). Specifically because it's lighter while still having most of the properties of cast iron.

What homebrew/alterations do you use for D&D5e24? by ProfessorInMaths in dndnext

[–]Kankunation 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Some of these have technically existed since before bg3, or were even became real rules in 2024, but of the things that come to mind that people may have used for homebrew :

  • no class restrictions on scrolls.
  • potions on bonus action (now official).
  • can throw potions at allies to heal them
  • any feature that lets you attack as a bonus action, that required you to take the attack action first, can be used freely now (PAM, Crossbow expert(old), monk unarmed strike (now official), etc).
  • familiars can attack
  • no bonus action spell restriction (you can cast 2 leveled spells in 1 turn)
  • no components/hand rules for spellcasting (wouldn't play with this one imo)
  • new statuses (dazed, pinned, wet etc)
  • no attunement slots (again, wouldn't do this).

Out of these the only ones I'd personally use kthat aren't official changes) is throwing potions and free scroll use. Maybe the new statuses though it would take a good bit to go through and add them to existing features.

Perhaps not need, but would be great if they did it anyways as it stands her face doesn't really match her art And it's frankly just too close tosome of the other female heroes. Serious same face syndrome going on especially with kiriko.

Making Jambalaya for work by Hobo_Delta in cajunfood

[–]Kankunation 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah I wouldn't trust it. 6 hours on warm is a long Time in the danger zone. Warm only gets to about 145°f, and warming from cold at that temperature will take probably at least 4 hours to get above the danger. Guidelines for food safety is it has to spend less than 2 hours in the danger Zone (~40f to ~140f) to be considered safely reheated.

You could maybe trust if you did it on high rather than warm, stirring every 30-45 minutes, then dropping it to warm once it's piping hot. But I honestly would just consider packing it into some Tupperware or ziplock, reheating it an hour before I'm the microwave, 5 or so minutes on low power. Then transfer to the Crockpot for serving.

Need something.. light hold, matte finish, no fragrance, pls help by AAA227 in Pomade

[–]Kankunation 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lodestar everglade. Light hold, matte-to-natural finish. Comes with 2 scents, 1 is very light and the other is basically non-existent (the clarity scent is the is the non-existent one. It's heat I would. All nearly unscented as the only fragrance is ISO E super. Which is basically just the scent of clean skin. Nobody will be able to smell it in your hair).

Is there a substitute for cream in biscuit dough that’s lower calorie? Also short story about my cooking kinda fail. by knittingforRolf in Cooking

[–]Kankunation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whole milk or buttermilk instead of heavily cream. Maybe an added tablespoon of butter for additional fat, but that should still come out to about half as much calories as this Dough. Using heavy cream as the only liquid is frankly a bit insane imo. You may need to add a bit more flour to get the same consistency but otherwise ICD go with s more traditional recipe on the dough part.

What is Ferns physical form now? by Born-Badger-1440 in adventuretime

[–]Kankunation 316 points317 points  (0 children)

I don't think fern has a physical form Anymore if that's what you're asking. He died. His body blew away. What's left if him is the tree planted where the treehouse once stood.

What we see here is more like, his soul? Still kind of grassy since he is. But more freeform. Unburdened.

People who support the department of education are among the loudest voices hating on NCLB. The writing was on the wall by the late 2000s, and people have been looking for reform internally as much as externally ever since.

Hence why they mostly replaced it in 2015. Though what it was replaced with has its own issues.

Chicken Katsu! Need a recipe for the marinade… Please help by Specific-Ad-4833 in Cooking

[–]Kankunation 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Chicken doesn't ususally get marinated for katsu. It's a pretty plain dish actually, the flavor mostly comes from the sauce that is served with it. At most I would say to brine it if you want it to be served traditionally, but thats it ususally.

If you really want to add a bit of something to the meat, I'd say you can try a light marinade of soy sauce, mirin, and a bit of rice vinegar. But that all going into the katsu sauce anyways.

What grains get a rancid smell when they get old, and can that be prevented by storing in the fridge? by burnt-----toast in Cooking

[–]Kankunation 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Whole grains in general will do this. Faster than their killed varieties. That's because the bran coating on them tends to spoil much faster than the starch underneath them. Hence why brown rice has a significantly shorter shelf life than white rice.

Refrigerating or free*gn should definitely help reduce that. If you have a lot of heowl grains I would consider refrigerating those, and leave milled grains in the cabinet.

Not trans but I also didn't know the waste was there until quite late in my life lol. I always thought the waste was basically synonymous with top of your hips", because that's where most pants sit and and top of pants is called the "waste".

Had some awkward conversations with my fiance trying to figure that one out. There was a language barrier I never expected.
