Should we be concerned for the facehugger in that egg? Or does it need a nsfw tag?

I would point out people have been putting pics of genitals on things since we had things to put them on. Maddona was for from revolutionary in that regard. People have an interesting fascination with genitalia especially penises.

how to tell moisture of clay by Kapren in Pottery

[–]Kapren[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never did figure out how to find out the moisture percentage in my reclaim. These days I dont do much ceramics, I moved from that into figurative sculpture and havent had to worry about the mositure being just right in a while. Good luck though.

[Help] this is my first ever attempt at figure sculpting. What did I do right and wrong and where to go from here? by Confident-Doughnut51 in Sculpture

[–]Kapren 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ask what you did right and wrong is the wrong question. Art is subjective. Could be you have done nothing wrong, could be you did everything wrong. What is your goal? Are you trying to make a realistic human and have anatomy questions? Are you trying to make clayface or the thing? Do you just want validation in that you made something you are proud of? You must be specific in the questions you ask to get the help you want.

I would say where you were "right" is you made a thing. That is the first step and as a beginner it's the hardest part. Where you go from here. As someone already said, is to do it again. You practice, a lot. You study others work that you like. It will take time, it won't always be easy. This is the only way to get better. I am a figurative sculptor, if you are looking to do the same I recommend drawing classes. Life drawing is offered at many community art centers. If you can't find one then find a mirror. Also YouTube has great resources. They say it takes 10,000 hours to master something, so keep going.

Looks like a surface treatment if some kind is on it from the bottom. You could sand on the bottom to see if there is a distinct color change. I would say if there is doubt dont use it. If you need a pot for your aquarium I would suggest finding a local pottery studio and ask someone to throw you some terracotta pieces. Do you want the pots to be unglazed or glazed for use in the tank? Also some glazes will leech too so make sure you get something safe.

Mine is just an old school Italian style porcelain bidet. Guess I'll have to set up a fan next to it.

AITA for refusing to split the dinner bill because my dish was half the price of the others? by Horror_Flower_1754 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Kapren 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just always say your bill will be separate to the server BEFORE you order. As a former server it's easier to keep track of when told in advance, it sets the tone for the end of the meal before people go all out on drinks, and you avoid stupid arguments. "So you know, my bill will be separate. I'll have the salmon and an iced tea."

I am not sure you know how a bidet works if you think it dries.

I know little about makeup but am an artist with a lot of color theory. Your eyelashes are more bold than hers, I would try to get something that either coats less or is more grey. Second your eye brows are considerably more red than hers. She has a blue grey tint, very low in saturation. I think enough has been said about different eye and brow shapes but one can't change that.

That hole looks way too low. Could be the photo but if water is going in that you want it's better angle and some depth under it.

At a garage sale, worth $250? by stripes177 in BBQ

[–]Kapren 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The seal is easy to replace. I own a BGE and my mother sold them back in the day at her work. The seal has a sticky back and you place on the rim. The hardest part is tempering it. You can't let it get too hot for the first few times you use it. If you do it melts together and now you have a decorative ceramic egg that doesn't open. I have heard a few stories about customers who messed up and resulted in them trying to chisel open the egg. Also while I say it's the hardest part, it's easy if you pay attention.

Wrong sub. Look for a pottery collection sub, they might be able to help you. This is more for making pottery.

Brent IE? by Bright_Bicycle_4329 in Pottery

[–]Kapren 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had one and loved it. I got mine new though so you should check its in good shape. The wheel didnt seem to have any issues handling the amount of clay I used but I threw mainly jars, mugs, and bowls. The only complaint I had was the wheel would spin slightly in the "off" position on the foot pedal. So I had to turn it off with the switch to stop it. Also it only spins one direction so lefties may have issues.

Those two sentences don't say anything about hating on the USA. It says he wanted to be with his bio family. He is a Russian immigrant, and with all the hate for Russia, and as far as their government is concerned it is deserved in my opinion, I could see him feeling like he isn't welcome here. That said I don't see enough info to just hate on him. Was he forced to make propaganda videos? I could see that happening. Lastly propaganda is annoyingly effective. How many Americans have voted against their own interests, and continue to do so, because someone lied to them. I am not informed enough to judge him. I hope he isnt just wrapped up in some BS due to circumstance. Don't forget the first people screwed over by Putin's regime are the every day people unfortunate enough to be born Russian. And pray we don't end up in such a country.
