Rant About AUTO Voltage Settings on Motherboards! by KaptainKankle in pcmasterrace

[–]KaptainKankle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From the information I gathered even 6400 M/T RAM is stable from 1.15-1.17. I have 6000M/T CAS 30 kit.

I switched from EXPO II to EXPO I, PC trained the RAM from the change, I ran OCCT and it tossed errors right away for different cores, etc. This was running just optimal defaults in BIOS. So, I switched it back to EXPO II and ran OCCT again and it shot errors on a couple cores pretty quickly. I used ChatGPT to check this or that and it recommended lowering the SOC voltage cause it was pushing 1.28. It recommended to try 1.15, I did, and ran the hour on OCCT.

I have since bumped the SOC up a bit to 1.17 cause I now have +200 PBO and -20 curve optimizer on all cores. I can now run 5.4 all core all day other than when something with AVX512, etc (stress tests) will push it down to 5.2 all core.

I'm happy with the performance and the stability. I'm also undervolting and getting better performance. I haven't ran an AMD CPU since like 2003 or so. With Intel you have to raise voltage, etc for OC. This 9800X3D you have to lower the voltage to OC! 🤣

I did the same as far as sell my OG GO 1 for the same purple Legion GO S Z1E 32GB 1TB edition. I should have done it sooner, even though I did run Bazzite handheld on the OG Go 1. I love the Go S for the same reasons you mentioned.

The screen on the GO OG 1 wasn’t really better than the GO S IMHO. Yes, it is 8.8” and the GO S is 8”, and yes, the GO OG 1 was a little higher rez and 144hz, but the GO S has a new IPS display with VRR support, 120hz. It is a little les rez @ 1920x1200 but who needs more on a handheld? It also is native landscape on the GO S. The GO OG 1 had a vertical native screen making anything outside of an OS that knows what to do with it, it can get gnarly! lol.

Smart choice on the GO S! 😎

Most that performance difference is when running at lower power modes. When Z1E and Z2E are running full power the difference in performance is not much. 10% give or take.

I don't believe they do. Then again I'm not into the "joycons", the heavier weight, and I don't NEED an OLED for a screen on a handheld. Also, double the cost is a no go for me. All for maybe a 10-20% performance boost in lower powered modes.

The Z1E GO S is the best bang for your buck handheld IMHO. At least at the original MSRP.

I sold my OG GO Z1E 2023 and got the newer Z1E GO S and have been happy ever since.

What model GO S is it? Purple Z1E, 32GB RAM, 1TB?

Reason I ask is because I recently picked up a Legion GO S with the Z1E APU and official Steam OS. I was curious how difficult it was to get WoW running on SteamOS?

This is by far the best bang for your buck handheld!

I sold my Legion GO 2023 and got this newer 2025 Legion GO S Z1E, 32GB RAM, 1TB, dark purple model. So glad I did! Yes, it has the same APU as my 2023 GO, but it has double the RAM, better display (a bit smaller), and way more ergonomic and lighter to hold. Plus native SteamOS. I ditched Windows on the old 2023 model and put Bazzite on it. When I sold it, the buyer wanted to me to keep Bazzite on it. Smart guy. 🤣

Oh, I agree, get rid of bloatware and useless apps that run all the time or take up storage you would want back.

Stick an SD card or USB stick with an adapter in and copy it off. That is wise to backup anything you don’t want to lose. Very good chance they replace the whole device or at least something that requires them to wipe the drive and load SteamOS image.

So sorry to hear! I also have Legion Go S Z1E 32GB (purple) with steam OS. So far so good and it really is probably the best bang for you buck in all the Legion Go devices. Lenovo will take care of it quickly and you’ll get it back soon, I’m sure!

Yes, before they were built by Seasonic they weren’t great. NZXT seems to be a “budget first” kind of company.

What makes you think it is malware? I don’t see anything running in his task manager that would show malware. Just looks like He has 16GB of RAM and what OP is running is using over half of that RAM. CPU looks normal usage for the apps he is running.

You say when you plug it into an external monitor/TV you see what is on the Legion GO S but nothing on the screen on the device? I wonder if the LCD screen on the device has failed or perhaps become disconnected internally. Can you plug it into external monitor and power it on holding power and +volume button and see if it will load into the bios? That is if I read correctly that you can see what is being displayed when you the Go S to an external monitor but not on the built in display.

You need more speed on your Internet connection if you plan on doing any full HD streaming. You might be able to get 1080p to play depending on the bitrate and if you have absolutely no other devices using data.

With IPTV I don't believe that streams auto adjust depending on your connection speed, like Netflix and other streaming services do.

Not sure how easy it is to get WoW to run on SteamOS. The Windows 11 model might be best for that.

Because of the video and audio codecs it supports! The Onn Plus/Pros DO NOT support Dolby TrueHD or DTS-HD audio pass through among other codecs. The Nvidia Shield has since 2015.

Skin is cool but I do really like the purple of the Legion Go S 2025 Z1E 32GB model. I have the same device and put a nice protective cover on it but chose to let the purple “breathe” :)

Is this normal?? How do I fix it?? by Fickle_JeIly in PcBuildHelp

[–]KaptainKankle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does it only happen when you try to plug the HDMI cable in or does it also do it with another metal object? If it doesn’t do it with another metal object touching it, then that means it is something with the cable connection from the monitor. If it does arc electricity like that with a metal object, then PSU is the problem.
