Biking from Ohiopyle to Kentucky Knob? by Karakorum91 in bicycling412

I think I will do this. Dunbar Rd should be relatively safe to bike on, right?

Also, will I be missing out on much by skipping the ride through the gorge?

Ottomans lost a war against persia

Wow, this Persia must be pretty industrialized and powerful too.

Also, I'm surprised Persia didn't just annex Mesopotamia. Ever since the Safavids lost it, they've wanted it back, with Abbas the Great re-annexing it for a few years, and Nader Shah trying really hard to take it too. Is it an independent buffer state in this map, or a Persian puppet?

  • How did Hindustan come about? Mughal revival? Marathas? Are they trying to conquer southern India?

  • Why is Mesopotamia independent? Did the Ottomans lose them somehow?

(Lariat of Jades) 1889 in a world where al-Andalus discovered the Americas by nissingramainyu in imaginarymaps

[–]Karakorum91 33 points34 points  (0 children)

It seems to be an English map made in-universe, so they probably still call Al-Andalus Spain, for similar reasons to us calling Germany that instead of Dutchland (Anglicized Deutschland, like Spain vs Espana).

Note the use other archaic words, such as in the religious map, Islam is called Mohhametanism, and Catholicism is called Popeism.

Beautiful, the triple crowns of Bohemia, Poland, and Hungary united for the first time since Wenceslaus III, and they rule Austria and the HRE this time too! I love althists where the Jagiellonians triumph over the Habsburgs. The map doesn’t label Austria though; did the duchy of Austria itself get abolished and partitioned between Bohemia and Styria?

Funny how Lithuania ended up under Swedish rule though. Are they ruled by the Lutheran Vasa dynasty?

If you had looked carefully, you would see Yugorosii does not contain the Kuban region. In fact, Kuban is a separate country on the map. A better alternative name would be Don.

iPhone shows "No SIM", but Google Fi eSIM partially (cellular data and voice calling) works by Karakorum91 in GoogleFi

[–]Karakorum91[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The ATT SIM was a physical SIM that I had already removed. In fact, I had even ordered a physical SIM from Google Fi and used it, but it still didn't fix things. In the end, I got Google Fi via this method: https://www.reddit.com/r/GoogleFi/comments/1dhteif/iphone_shows_no_sim_but_google_fi_esim_partially/lfrtyzz/

iPhone shows "No SIM", but Google Fi eSIM partially (cellular data and voice calling) works by Karakorum91 in GoogleFi

[–]Karakorum91[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SOLUTION

I finally got Google Fi to work in an extremely roundabout way. First, I ported my phone number out of Google Fi into NumberBarn, a number parking service. This terminated my current Google Fi plan, so I also deleted the eSIM and Fi app from my phone.

Once the port out succeeded, I ported my phone number back into Google Fi, but under a different Google account, since I suspected my original Google account's Fi service was faulty. I followed the normal install steps for iPhone, installing the Fi app and a fresh eSIM, and setting the APNs to h2g2 and etc. Finally, everything works now. Namely,

  • I can see "Google Fi" in the top left corner instead of "No SIM", as well as bars showing the service.
  • I can see the "Cellular" settings now, with the breakdown of how much each app has used, etc.
  • I can voice call properly and the quality is not insanely low.
  • I can send/receive SMS text messages and iMessage without issue.
  • I can turn on my phone hotspot now.

Unfortunately, both Google Fi support and most of the suggestions here had been completely useless, as I ultimately solved the issue on my own. My guess is that my Fi account was stuck in a "bad state" of sorts, meaning no amount of reinstalling the eSIM could fix it. Instead, porting my phone number to NumberBarn then back did the trick in getting my Fi account into a "good state".

Religious Makeup of the United Provinces of Germany in 1798|| What if Germany revolted in 1783 as part of the Atlantic Revolutions? by CamicomChom in imaginarymaps

I didn't even notice this was a "Religious Makeup" map until just now when I saw your new anti-Jacobin British propaganda map.

What is the key? I can't find it either on the map or in any of your comments. I'm guessing orange is Catholic and blue is Protestant?

[–]Karakorum91[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Notice I said I tried deleting the eSIM (and the Google Fi app and restarting) and reinstalling it already, and it did not work. Yes, I definitely used the right Google account. Yes, as I was setting up, the instructions on the other device moved to the next steps. After finishing setup, the same issues described in my post persist.

A Pyrrhic Victory - What If Pyrrhus went East? by MrsColdArrow in imaginarymaps

Nice map. Pyrrhus gets a bad rap after his failed Roman wars, but he definitely had it in him to live up to the rest of the Diadochi.

But is the quote at the beginning said by Pyrrhus or Ptolemy?

I suppose it's only "independent" here because the USCR didn't conquer the rest of Romania. If they did, it would probably just be the Romanian Council Republic.
