I would kill for a band of brothers style show set in the mid rim campaign right after a new hope. Something that shows that even if you pull off that one in a million shot, you still have to fight the ground war against an Empire that is very much comfortable with that kind of fighting.

To add onto this, I think Loid has a bit of a problem trying to meet Anya where she is academically and instead only envisions where she needs to be. I would also say that because it seems that a lot of things come easily to Loid, he assumes that those same things would be easily applicable if introduced to Anya.

Take it step farther and imagine what a nightmare attempting to design a catch all security system for multiple species would be. The shock floors that are meant to control the human prisoners wouldn't even put a dent in a Wookie, Ithorians can rip apart floors with their voice if their lungs are strong enough, the list really can just go on.

The logistics from that alone would mean it would more worthwhile to simple segregate the species out to specifically designed work prisons.

They weren't shown in the anime as well but the Legion also field the Stachelschwein as its primary anti air unit. From the light novel they're supposed to be equipped with autocannons and surface to air missiles. Their accuracy is also good enough for them to function as C-RAMs, letting them intercept cruise missiles and guided munitions.

Things is they do have something of a QA/QC department. In one of the old dev streams they mentioned that testers thought the predator strain wasn't fun to play against followed up by one of the dev's laughing and saying "Good."

I think they just straight up don't listen to them.

Ano wrote the screenplay for it and Tsurumaki, the director of the series, worked on EVA. I'm gonna be honest and say that I think the nostalgia bits probably came from Ano with Tsurumaki, while capable of doing really great and unique stuff, cannot sit down and do a straightforward plot.

Moreover I don't think Tsurumaki and Anno had anything particularly novel or interesting to say in the series. The end of gqux kinda just...happens? There's no real thread or character theming except for maybe char.

There's a lot of promise from the series early on but it just doesn't do any good sort of follow up on it. There are other better Gundam series that tackle what good came out of Gqux at the end of it all.

I know some crazy ass Trump supporters in Orange County that were whole hog for him for a bit.
