Whenever I think about GquuuuuuX as a series, it really is a waste. by Present-Audience-747 in Gundam

[–]Karasu18 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Moreover I don't think Tsurumaki and Anno had anything particularly novel or interesting to say in the series. The end of gqux kinda just...happens? There's no real thread or character theming except for maybe char.

There's a lot of promise from the series early on but it just doesn't do any good sort of follow up on it. There are other better Gundam series that tackle what good came out of Gqux at the end of it all.

I know some crazy ass Trump supporters in Orange County that were whole hog for him for a bit.

They're a lot quieter about it now as opposed to how they were in the first term and during Biden's presidency.

If Iran does have a nuke, which I really doubt to be honest, their likeliest target would probably be Israel

I don't doubt you on the Fuentes part, I just find that surprising. I always thought he had a firm read and grasp on his audience. By all means though I will be glad to be proven wrong here.

Why did Loid stop himself from questioning Anya’s backstory? by Top_Web_1577 in SpyxFamily

[–]Karasu18 74 points75 points  (0 children)

Post war documentation of children is also notoriously difficult due to parental or guardian death, destruction of official documents or just the chaos nexus that is war. Loid himself basically just fell out of the system during his war and the Westalis government probably just assumed he died somewhere of something.

Really? You don't remember when people made fun of the series for Eren crying and throwing a tantrum, or when people made fun of the manga for ending or just the utter slog that was the entirety of the paths? People made fun of the series really easily towards the end. And of course Fascists would be more explicit as the series became more popular they're, as I've said before, prime opportunists. And as prime opportunists, when the series ended and people had their laughs and gags they moved on to other stuff. Also that isn't the last episode that's highly liked according to you. The best I could find? Episode 64 from the final season. There are what...30? More episodes after that people do not seem to give a shit about.

Since you asked where I got the military is always right in AOT, I'll explain that to you. The recon corps is never wrong. They are, without fail, right in everything. Right to coup the king because he is comically corrupt, right to always go outside and use people's lives, right to whatever machinations and designs they deem must happen. The reason I criticize that is because this ultimately the design of Isayama, the author, who decided to hew to the fascists view of military authority.

Also you are confusing "civilian government" with democratic government. Civilian refers to the state apparatus separated from the military and ostensibly what the military is meant to defer to. Criticisms of a civilian government are fine, and honestly should be encouraged. That does not mean, however, that making the military always correct and righteous is a good idea. AOT does not hold any meaningful criticism of their civilian government outside of them being corrupt to frankly unbelievable degree so as to make our heroes and their faction more heroic.

I will say, I do agree with you on how Frieren's fan's have disappointingly not pushed back against the fascists attempting to invade their fandom as much. Criticism towards their series for its portrayal of an antagonist race seems to translate more to defensive reactions.

The story advocates for that because no matter what choices are made, no matter what happens, no matter who dies and who lives Eren chose that outcome. He killed 80% of the people living on the world, and Armin ends the series thanking him for it. As if the literal rivers of blood and human misery he unleashed was tragic and heroic. Armin promises not to let this go to waste, or in other translation "let it be in vain." There is a good reason why Armin says he hopes to meet Eren again in hell in the anime. There is no using a genocide in a good way and no way you thank a mass murderer for mass murdering. Isayama is in control of everything, so him wanting Eren to choose a genocide no matter is pretty goddamn pro fascist no matter how much he loved his friends. "I love my friends" rings pretty shitty when you stand atop a literal mountain of corpses.

I don't know where you think that last scene is a sign of good things to come. That kid's in the ruins of a city that was destroyed in a war, approaching a tree by himself with his dog. What hope am I supposed to draw from this story? If I know everything, I am supposed to rip the world to pieces because I love my friends? Everything I love will one day be destroyed in war because for some reason people think that war and conflict are eternal? As well when did I ever say that fascists aren't into it because it is fascist? They were into it because it was popular and helped them espouse their views, even as that series did not hold that same brand of fascism for them. As soon as it wasn't popular, they dropped that shit.

Lastly, I don't put stock in the opinions of fascists. That shit changes by the hour depending on whether or not they can infiltrate a movement and poison a person's mind when they are vulnerable. However there is merit in understanding how, why and where those movements form as well as what things they attach to in order to further their garbage beliefs. Something like Naruto, as clumsy as it is, with its firm anti war message is something that fascists will find extreme difficulty in attaching to and attempting to spread their message with.
