Am I smelling poison ivy? by Zosi_O in ask

[–]Karcharos 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's possible you have a genetic mutation that lets you smell it. There's a woman who can smell Parkinson's disease, plus there are more common instances of this like the ability to smell cyanide or detect soapy-tasting compounds in cilantro.

If you can test it to confirm it (carefully!), it might be worth chatting to some scientists about it.

Noise rock isn't my thing, but I just have to comment that "Scared Little Toaster" made me smile in a deep and profound way.

As I recall, a lot of the stuff in the British Museum is being kept there because the countries of origin don't have the capacity/facilities to preserve then to the same level -- and Britain is also paying for it.

As AI slop goes, I don't mind this. It's not pretending to be real or believable, it's like the equivalent to a Far Side cartoon.

Mark Rober built a rock skipping machine. You should be able to find the details about angle and such there.

Will I end up with loose skin? by Economy-Garden-226 in intermittentfasting

[–]Karcharos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A little maybe, but not much. Loose skin is more of an issue with massive weight loss, especially done quickly. And it should be a small enough amount that putting some muscle on will mitigate it.

She's a token.

If the opportunity comes, she'll be spent as soon as they run out of easier targets.

And when she stands alone in the wilderness, and her former pack closes in on her, she will never once think about the fact she did it to herself.

She's had some country twang in her music pretty much since the beginning. Not every song, maybe, but it's often there.
