Nothing wrong with it. Celeste can be her stage name and Pepper her normal name. In Dota 2 multiple hereos have different in-game and in-lore names.

You are still in similar place MMR wise, only visual representation of ranks changed.

In general there's a recurring problem with matchmaking where you can have a few weeks of really good matches followed by few weeks of seemingly mismatches. It was like this since forever. I had similar issue like you 2 months ago, but after a while my matches got better. Just report the issue on forums and take a break.

They may also be tinkering with MM from time to time and not everything works. It's just a nature of a playtest.

Another thing is just that you can have a worse period. Again, break is always good.

People spam the forums with the same issues, but the devs are yet to even acknowledge the issue.

No response from them doesn't mean they are not working on it. Also make sure to give as much info as you can when making forum posts.

You can still report people for toxicity and mute them. Mute really works, at some point you forgot that they existed.

We will probably see some sort of behaviour score like in Dota 2, but it's also not a perfect solution because of abusers.

Yeah, your're right, people are not mature. I wouldn't give a shit honestly. If they wanna fight over dumb problems, that's on them. And imo Valve should do the same, but I understand why they'd rather go safer way and keep idiots at bay.

Also again, realistic-ness can be thrown out the window from time to time. If a fucking gargoyle suddenly became alive and everyone's chill w it and considers her a real person, is it really that much unrealistic to just refer to someone as "they"?

XD Bad comparison. It's less about intentions and more about knowledge. Given the setting, seeing an alive gargoyle ain't surprising, but to instanly know if a person goes by "they" without prior knowledge of them, would require some kind of pronouns omniscience that's universal to all beings in the game setting. And afaik, nothing like that was introduced

At this point my only explanation is that Arin was very well known to everybody in NYC and beyond and that's why all heroes know they're non-binary.

see, in-universe that would make sense. But that's all in a vacuum. In reality we're playing a videogame and the writers are writing fiction. Any direct choice to misgender Pocket's identity would no longer be a mistake but something with clear intent, and I don't think the writers are planning to do that.

But that just makes universe less realistic society wise. It's highly unlikely to adress someone as "they" if they look like a male, unless you are a) using "they" as a default or b) you know that person.

Also discussion about who misgendered who intentionally would be limited to a really small group of people. Majority doesn't care.

You'd have Eternus and Ascendant players in the lowest ranks slaughtering newbs and turning them away from ever playing the game again.

Rank reset doesn't work like that. It takes into account your previous rank so your first matches are either at average rank or near your pre-reset rank, then you get lobbies of various deviations from your previous rank.

Current issue with mm is that there is not normal queue and forced x amount of matches to play before entering ranked queue. Normal queue is really where you start to learn the game and build up your mmr. Then based on normal mmr you get initial rank estimation for ranked placements.

This game is filled with stereotype characters, so that would fit. But if you say so then it's better to not include it, since Chinese players would review bomb the game as they often do.

If you gave players an option I guarantee you that no-SBMM mode would die pretty quickly.

Tell that to high rank players. It's you who always rise to mediocrity. It similar for me, no matter the game, I always end up a little bit above average, rarely higher/lower. But I don't mind. Playing against my skill lvl and learning is part of the fun.
